New MK Paid Disney After Hours Event Announced

I'd say they would just slowly eliminate the NIGHT EMH hours at MK . .and just have AM ones (which are probably more preferable to "most" guests anyone (especially those with young children).

So who is going to gamble and give this a shot (on such short notice) without knowing a lot of the details? They don't really have much information out about it besides "some attractions" will be open (and they list like 6 of them) and that you'll get free ice cream and soda.

So, I have the Platinum Premium Plus Pass (or whatever it's called, the one with no blackout dates)... Do they go around and throw people out? Are you not allowed in without a special ticket? Do you get a discount on the hours? I'm confused..

From someone who might (might) consider the event: Hubs does not do fireworks. At all. This appeals for us precisely because of the lack of special experiences that sound/feel like mortar attacks. Depending on the execution, we might make it the last part of a date night after RoL/Tiffins combo if it extends into the fall. But honestly, I would rather hit up EMH and use the $300+tax for something like the Villains party or a longer fishing excursion. Or cocktails.

I love that they're including a photo of fireworks. Did I miss the mention of some special event exclusive fireworks show?
That's part of the come in three hours early piece. I'm waiting for the discussion of bad parenting since there is also a preteen kid there at some ungodly hour. Didn't anyone ever tell Iger nothing good happens after midnight.

This means they will probably eliminate the evening EMHs eventually. Why have a party that people will pay $150 for if you just have it for free the following evening?

We are having this argument in the house today. Following is pure opinion.

DS says they won't go, they are one of the perks mentioned in the potential resort fee, they are too important to young families in morning and older ones at night, they provide pure shopping time for offsite guests and others when less crowded. We both feel they are a major perk of onsite and without, if you have a car, staying offsite will be the best option.

I say EMH cost a lot of money operationally and they get little in return. As they reduce their workforce and make it harder for young people to live on short hours - those CMs will begin to leave. Older CMs won't work those late hours. It may be the morning EMH will continue so they say they can offer them. But night EMH could transform into a ticketed event. Test coming up.

Thinking about the park hours being posted, busy summer and they still show 10. Really? They know it will be crowded. Where are the Halloween party dates? Change coming? Is Wishes and Parade FP+ really going away and what of the rumor no more 2nd parade? All things to push folks out earlier.....

I also think to wrangle in operating costs and deal with a disgruntled workforce, they may move to more traditional theme park hours, more like Universal does. Consistent closing times of 9 or 10 depending on the season. One night parade. Fireworks at closing to "announce" closed for the night like Illuminations. Better for overhead. It also forces people to the new money generator = Disney Springs.

DISCLAIMER: All opinion and ramblings from our Disney house.

I am ready to take at least a 5 year break from these parks. I'm need to find someone to "gift" my tickets too that I have purchased!

If you are serious about this, I am willing to make you my Offical Favorite Person and will send you Christmas cards for the rest of our natural lives :D

As much as this costs, you will probably have to have a paid event ticket and wristband or whatever they provide just like the parties to stay inside the park.

You will have to leave, and yes at parties they check for event ticket and guide you out the gate.

You are not allowed without a paid event ticket like a Party night.

No discount on hours because you will be permitted in park the posted park hours. If a park is listed 9-7, that is it. If it says 8-10, that is it. Tickets are not based on total hours but rather operating hours.

Some Halloween and Christmas party dates (usually less popular) are discounted a couple dollars for AP holders but not many. That probably will not apply here unless it becomes long term.

Pretend it is like the Holiday Parties.

Got to agree with both of you. We have done several of the tours that have cost us more. I could see doing this once IF the tickets were limited & the park was actually cleared out.

Disney never said the park would be cleared out. People on here assume that the admission would be limited so they can have smaller crowds.
Never once on the ad has that been mentioned. I believe that people want that so bad that they just "assume" that the admission will be limited.
Come on, people, have they every limited people and cut out their earnings? I've read that the special events are very crowded as it is.
I've never paid for one and never will. Universal is looking better and better. Disney better get their act together and stop the bad press/feelings they are causing with all these increases.

I find this news so weird. As with the parties, there will likely not be a published max number of tickets allowed - so who knows if it will even be less crowded than a normal day. It's disappointing news. I am glad that my kids are aging out of Disney because the constant money grabs are just really irritating me. We will always love Disney, but I am glad that I don't feel the pressure to get them there every 1-2 years anymore - it's just getting to be too much.

They're not preferable to me! You'd be surprised how many families and people prefer evening EMH. :)
Oh . .I am sure there are plenty of families that prefer night hours (I would .. IF I was just going with my wife .. but with a toddler? (or even kids under 10)) .. no way would I want to stay out that late after an already LONG day in the park with another potential long day tomorrow at another park.

Also like an above poster mentioned . the cost to keep the park open an extra two hours at night must be immense ..
I am sure it is hard to staff people until 1:00 - 2:00 AM.
How many people are really getting food/souvenirs that late?
Less time to clean the park, fix attractions before the next opening.

Morning EMH .. probably easier to staff (would YOU rather start work at 6:00 AM or stay up until 1:00 AM after a long day?) .. it is only an extra HOUR of staffing (compared to 2) .. and gets people in the park earlier . .meaning they may have breakfast or snacks in the park ..etc. etc.

I've always wondered how many resort guests (what percentage) took advantage of EMH anyway.

I say ditch EMH .. keep the hours of the park consistent and just give resort guests a 4th Fast Pass. I am sure MOST (not all) people wouldn't miss a perk they sometimes didn't use every day for a 4th fast pass EVERY day of their trip.

I would think a 4th Fast Pass would be more of a selling point to do a resort stay than EMH.

Blatant nickel and dime attitude from Disney. Sure, we can choose to pay this price or not. That's fine. However, from a PR point of view, this just isn't a good look. We all pay so much money to visit Disney which is already a premium destination and the message we're getting is ''you should pay even more'' and it's this very message that leaves a sour taste in our mouths.

We will have to agree to disagree on that one - especially as someone who goes in the 'slow' season. I love the magical feeling of the park being emptier at night. <3
