Why am I no longer getting email notifications?

Any updates on this? I still have not gotten a single email.

Occasionally I log on in the early morning and find the boards down, and I keep hoping that this "fix" will be there when it comes up. So far, no go.

Nope...I'm in a complete black hole for email notifications now. I wonder if they've been turned off completely.

I'm getting them but only getting one regardless of how active the thread is, and have to log onto the thread to get another one.

Well, actually, I just discovered I am. I hadn't been getting them for at least a year and a half before the board change, then when it changed, I started getting them again. In fact, I was getting so many that I set up a folder for them to automatically move to, but after just a few days, they stopped coming. I kept checking the folder for new ones, but when I didn't see any after a few days, I stopped checking. Well, I just checked a little while ago and discovered that they had started coming again 2 weeks ago, and that I had more than 700! (I'd been keeping up with the threads I post to by clicking on Watched Threads, so I just deleted them.)

That's normal. You should only get one email per thread, until you read the thread again. On the old system it reset if you read _any_ thread, but on the new one you have to read the specific thread (I actually prefer it that way)

But, of course, you have to _get_ them

After having so many difficulties editing posts and especially the SWW Roll Call, I thought I would add on email notification to see if it worked. Notifications were coming in for the threads that I had checked. I then changed my email contact info to the main email account that I use and notifications began arriving there.

I'm not sure why it works for me. All I know is I hadn't chosen to receive email notification prior to the changeover and submitting new contact info has allowed me to receive notifications now.

It's just not "fun" or easily informative for me anymore. Even just going to the individual forums, the posts jump all over the place with dates posted even when I click on most recent unread post.

At least you are getting the alerts. I'm only getting three or four at a time when I know that there should be more. I simply don't have the time to go through the individual threads. With the email notifications, i could pick and choose more easily.

Thanks for the update! I sure hope that things do improve as I'm quickly losing touch with the Dis.

Thanks Doc, basically just running the web servers through a little hmail server. The big difference with this software is automated bounce handling. If your email bounces more than x times in x days it will stop sending them to you.
This should help reduce instances where we are marked as spammers and ensure reliable delivery for everyone

I just received my first email since the board change and it was for your post.

Now I just have to see if there's an option for it to send text instead of html but this is great - thanks for spending the time to get it working!
