I am on the phone with disney for the third time and have been told for the third time that I can only order cake from Babycakes. I have stated repeatedly that we don't have an anaphalactic allergy and we do not worry about cross contamination and that we don't want a Babycakes cake - we want the vegan cake. So what am I doing wrong?

The second cake for our trip was just as stunning.

Price:$88
Date: 11/2/14
Location: The Garden Grill at Epcot
Cake: 8" vanilla cake with dark chocolate mousse filling, vanilla butter cream icing, ivory fondant with gold leaf mickey details, white chocolate Mickey & Minnie with gold accents, sugar flowers and a white chocolate ribbon with "And They Lived Happily Ever After - Mom & Dad" in chocolate. The cake was delicious. 8" cake feeds 10 and there were 10 in our party and we still had plenty left over. Theresa from the Epcot cake ordering line was wonderful! She was very helpful and well organized.

Quick question, I called the number for the AKL and spoke to a very nice cm on Thanksgiving day to order a surprise cake for our dinner at Boma on December 18th. She took all of the information, but I haven't heard from anyone to confirm or give me a cost for the cake???? Should I call them back??

I would definitely follow up. When I ordered both of my cakes (1 from the Contemporary and 1 from Epcot), I was sent an email with a quote for each along with a photo to give me an idea of what the cake would look like (since they are custom, they were both a slightly different design). I was asked to call back to confirm each order over the phone, which I did.

Finalized my cake order for SATURDAY today. Chef Brian quoted me an 8 inch cake...this is going to be huge, isn't it? There are only 4 of us...maybe we'll try to make friends with the people at a table close to ours and offer to share. LOL.

I ordered 8" cakes for both of our events. We were in a parties of 9 and 10 respectively. We had plenty left over too. Are they able to do the design you are requesting on a 6" cake? That would probably be a better size for your party.

Not done by Disney staff, but I sent in pictures and Chef Brian re-created the pictures I sent. Maybe you can try that. Here are a few ideas...

Thank you so much for these. It is so kind and thoughtful of you. I am really touched that you did this. I will definitely use them

Thank you

The first is a birthday cake for my mom ordered through Magic Kingdom cakes for her birthday lunch at the Crystal Palace. It's an 8 inch (they wouldn't make a 6 inch for me), vanilla cake with white chocolate mousse. All I asked for was some purple decorations since that is my mom's favorite color. It was $49 -

Okay, here's the photo of my cake, haven't figured out sizing it yet, sorry. It was an 8 inch chocolate with chocolate mousse and cannoli cream fillings, white butter cream frosting under the blue fondant. Snow White and Prince 2d on white chocolate and says "You might get a little Grumpy but you'll always be Prince Charming to me" on the front. This cake was SO good, super taste and really cute, dh was completely surprised and loved it. Cost was $82. We had it delivered to Artist Point at our dinner and just had it added to the bill, which we used TIW on the total bill but also tipped on the entire thing including the cake.

We recently went to Disney to celebrate my In-Law's 50th wedding anniversary. While we were there, it also my daughter's 2nd Birthday.

We celebrated the Birthday at Chef Mickey's and the kids had a great time! Our server, Debby was awesome and made sure all the characters new we were celebrating a birthday. They spent a great amount of time with each of the kids, but special attention was given to the Birthday girl. We were seated at a table by the window overlooking the castle. We had a great view for the fireworks! Minnie and Donald came and watched the fireworks with our daughter and clapped and cheered with her.

The second cake for our trip was just as stunning.

Thank you all for sharing details and photos of your cake experiences! :goodvibes

Which resort are you calling? I think it's highly likely that most Disney locations aren't bothering to provide their own restricted-diet cakes anymore now that they can just refer people to Babycakes. Even brides are having to fight to get a non-Babycakes cake for restricted diets at their Disney weddings. :(

Maybe the first page should be updated to reflect this?
I'm calling Wilderness Lodge because we wanted a cake at Artist Point. (We were told the same thing in May at AKL - can only order allergy cake from Babycakes.) I don't want the Disney cakes to go away. I can buy Babycakes cupcakes at our resort and they have been offered at some locations as a dessert option which is much nicer than the "frozen dessert" fake-ice-cream. I was ordering a Disney cake in an attempt to pay for something a bit different from the Babycakes cupcakes I will have already eaten.

Do they still make the small mickey head cakes? Disney Food blog reviewed one in 2011, I think she got it from Boardwalk Bakery but I didn't know if I could order one from the contemporary. I'm not talking about the ~$50 one, I'm talking about the less than $10 one that was a snack credit at one point in time.

I'm probably asking these questions prematurely since our trip isn't for a few months but I am a cake ordering novice.

We are staying at AKL and my friend has her birthday August 29th so we'd like to get a cake. Do we get it delivered to the resort or to the table at our evening meal (think that would be more of a celebration!)? What's the process and do they have designs to choose from or can we send specifications? I've read quite a bit of the thread and will continue to, so I have a better understanding/more ideas. :thumbsup2

Thought I would share this photo of a pirate cake from Disneyland. It might give someone an idea for WDW. It was $69.

Thanks for posting! :goodvibes

You can call the bakery directly and ask! Just dial the main number and ask to be transferred to the bakery: (407) 939-6200

It depends on where you're dining and how fancy a cake you want. Having it delivered to your table is cheaper because there are none of Private Dining's delivery and service fees. But then you have to schelp it around. Also, certain resorts have more capability for fancy cakes. Animal Kingdom Lodge has been turning out good ones lately, but they can't do mini cakes, which a lot of people want. If you told me you wanted a fancy minicake, I'd say to order the cake for a meal at the Grand Floridian or the Contemporary.

I wanted to share they cake we just received from the grand Floridian bakery for my sister-in-law's birthday we were eating in Ohana's. The cake was Fabuloushttp://flic.kr/p/qkmkLo

Thanks for sharing! If you have a moment, we'd all love to know what you asked for (did you send inspiration ideas or photos?), what flavors you got and how much the cake cost! :thumbsup2

I was successfully able to order allergy cakes from The Grand Floridian Bakery and through the Contemporary for our trip 2 months ago. EPCOT, AKL and Wilderness Lodge all denied my requests and referred me to Babycakes. I really hope Disney doesn't completely discontinue their allergy/vegan cake, DD is allergic to an ingredient in Babycakes :worried:

Hello all!

I got 2 cake quotes back and now I need to decide so i'm hoping you guys can help me out :)

From the Contemporary Bakery

The first cake is an 8 inch iced in butter cream with 2d images on the sides representing each of the parks for 70$. If I want a 2d screen printed Mickey or a white chocolate Mickey on top it's an additional 30$ so a total of 100$.

The second cake is is a 2 tier 3&6 inch cake in white fondant with the same 2d images on the side for 95$

Is it just me or does the second cake seem like a better price for what I'm getting? Considering 8inch cakes start at 42$ if they are frosted in buttercream I was surprised that the images drove it up to 70$...

Also do you think that the second cake, since it's in 2 tiers, could be done in 2 different flavors?

I got a call-back! :thumbsup2 WL told me that they saw in the notes from my call that I didn't want a Babycakes cake and that "the chef" was willing to make a 6" DF (vegan) chocolate cake. I wasn't given any choices, but we gratefully "ordered" the cake option offered. Will post when we've received our cake. :goodvibes

The cake was 8 inch round vanilla cake with whip cream and fresh strawberries filling.
Price was $120.00 for cake $6.00 extra for fresh strawberries $126.00+tax.
I emailed Pat Anderson some pictures, and I also shipped the wooden Adirondack chair and miniature wine bottle and wine glass to Pat. Everything else on the cake was totally edible. I was very happy with the cake!

It seems like the 2-tier cake could be done in 2 different flavors, but remember that mini cakes (like the top tier) can't be made with carrot cake or fresh fruit fillings. I would probably go with the 2-tier just cuz I think they look cooler, and I do think it should be able to feed your entire group, but maybe only 1 piece each.
