Well, you're not supposed to get 2 cards. You're supposed to get one. Not many families need 2. That's why they're now going to link it electronically to tickets. And yes, you go through the FP line but it's not immediate like the GAC was.

The systems are hugely different.

Well said - the incentive to cheat with the DAS is much less than with the GAC. And these changes, if they happen, should help cut back on the existing abusers.

Well, one thing is for certain, you can’t blame the wheelchair crowd for this abuse, now can we? The truth comes out about the GAC.

What an helpful first post...really adds a lot to the conversation and does not in any way seem confrontational or baiting.

Well you can get two if the needs are different when I was getting issues with my wife's magic band fixed there was a family in front of me getting 2

You can get two for different people, but I doubt needing 2 is the norm.

The more common abuse we're seeing is the "lost" DAS. One party was recently caught with six of them issued to the same person. They apparently "lose" them a lot. (Yes, it was an AP)

I just added that because you said your not suppose to get two I think the thing with the DAS is they are finding one size doesn't fit all. I bet in the first few months they didn't give two out under any condition. Now things are changing

So, if they "lose" it, can it be voided, then a new one given? And for the groups with 2 or more, assign a certain number to each card, not necessarily specific tickets, just so many for each card? Doesn't sound too hard to implement, but I don't know all the computer ins and outs.

There won't be a way to lose it since it'll be electronic now.

The world being "supposed to" your not supposed to cheat the system but clearly people are,
I actually think there are huge incentives to cheating the system, and by the looks of it so do many others, otherwise this conversation wouldn't be needed.
At the moment you can only get 3fp then one after the other, however there is barely anything left after you use the 1st 3 of the day! As I found out on my 23night trip In June-july this yr.
If you get 2 Das cards your getting essentially fp+ all day.

Once a guest is able to get a DAS, then yes, it is advantageous to have more than one. It's a function of people that are unhappy about losing the GAC and all its advantages that push them to cheat with the DAS, either by claiming that more than one person needs it, or by "losing" one and getting a replacement.

But the incentive to get a DAS in the first place, when compared to the GAC, isn't nearly as attractive. If it were, we wouldn't see so many people complaining about the GAC going away.

I'm not saying there isn't incentive, but I don't think it's anywhere near comparable to what it previously was.

Like I said, I think it's pretty telling that DL is experiencing the most issue with this.

Perhaps this was why a rude women at guest services at EPCOT on nov 1 last week around 11:30 or so, essentially refused to give my MIL a card also, despite explaining that they, my MiL and FIL, did not intend to go to the same parks with us and despite having a telephone call with guest services that my MIl would be entitled to one as was my daughter.

Ether way, this new system and many other changes at dis will result in our family taking a good long break from disney. Funny, when my daughter was with me to get a return time, it was usually greeted with a back time stamped entry time and being advised we could enter immediately if we wanted. We usually needed to have a break anyway so it was appreciated either way.

I plan on making a final post on these boards for a while about why its time for our family to take a good long break from disney.

The bolded part above is what needs to be stopped immediately, unless Disney wants the DAS to become as overused as the GAC was. Not to mention the fact that it goes against what Disney is trying institute, namely, fairness for all guests.

Fairness. Whatever. (Added as I think about it, it was perfectly fair). And don't expect me to respond further. I've been on these boards long enough to not bother.

I don't know what any of your family's issues are, but did everyone qualify? I. Sure anyone asking for more than one DAS is going to have a harder time.

They stopped doing the pre approval phone stuff awhile ago, so I'm not surprised by them not going off of that.

I was wondering the same thing as others. What I understand they were trying to get at least 3 DAS cards. Oh well, now we see why they are going electronic, which to me, seems better in the long run.
