Regarding Trails End and FW, we thought about walking out to see the horses before or after our reservation. They do allow this, right?

I took this picture of the ponies one cold morning in January, but they won't be in coats in Sept. :) They are located between the restaurants and the bus stop.

They is also a playground for kids located between the boat dock and Trail's End. It is a really nice playground. :)

Cutest ponies EVER! ( but then I've never met a pony I didn't like ; )

We start our split stay next weekend (4 nights AKL before 10 nights at BCV). Does anyone know if you can see the Frozen Fireworks from Y&BC? Should we take the boat over to the outside of DHS or can we get a good view from the resort areas? We have APs but with our little one, we would prefer to just watch them from afar.

Wow, I've just caught up on the posts from the last few months, and it seems like you guys have a very close community here!

I haven't been to these boards in a couple of years: Since I was planning my last trip to Disney World, at which my now-husband proposed to me during the fireworks at a window table at the California Grill! I came back now because we'll be checking in to the Beach Club on September 4th for an 11 day massive family reunion. At our biggest, the group will be 14 people - myself and my husband, my parents, one of my sisters and her boyfriend, the other sister, her husband and 4 step kids, and my in laws. This is the kids', brother in law and "boyfriend in law's" first trip to the World, everyone else is a serious Disney veteran - this will be my own 6th trip. But we're all new to the YABC, having admired the pool from afar for years.

I wonder if some of you might share what your favorite thing at YABC is - time of day, menu item, secret convenience, staff member, and what's all this about a lobby smell? Basically, what is it that keeps you guys coming back so often?

(It might be worth noting that about half of our group is vegetarian, but I've already gathered I should pass along the Cape May crab legs recommendation to the omnivores among us ;))

Another question - are there sailboats available at the marina? We're a sailing family that doesn't have much interest in jetskis.

:wave2:

Generally speaking, how long before the movie on the beach is the bonfire, marshmallow roasting held? Thought it might be fun for the little one in our party, but not so sure the timing will necessarily work out. We have early dinner reservations for that night at Trail's End, and while I'm pretty sure we'll make it back in time to catch at least most of Frozen (yay!), I don't know about the bonfire. Course, it could all be a moot point, if Trail's End is as good as all the reviews/pics make it seem like it is. Our tummies might be uncomfortably full. ;) The boat ride from Fort Wilderness back to Magic Kingdom then bus back to the BC might give us some time to recuperate though, lol. Unless, we find a faster mode of returning 'home.' Hmm. Guess I really had two questions. Thoughts? The excitement is a little more real now that we're only 22 days out. AskSiri P.S. A third question for you guys. What are your thoughts on Memory Maker? Better deal than regular Photopass? We had PP+ last year, but it didn't seem like such a good deal with 2 adults looking to get as much done as possible. I'm more inclined to consider it since we're traveling with a child and trying to force ourselves to slow down by taking PH's out of the equation.

I can talk to the memory maker part of this post. We got it last year. They took over 200 photos in five days. For us definitely worth it. We are going back this spring and will get again.

AskSiri You can visit the horses and even walk into the barn and see - but don't pet- the horses that are used for parades and carriage rides. Look high for the hidden mickey in the barn :)

I usually rent a bike at the Wilderness lodge and bike over to Fort Wilderness to visit the animals then peddle back and keep an eye open for the deer that are usually along the bike path.

Can someone please post a link when the yc/BC activities calendar for October is up?

We're going for mnsshp but want to do resort activities on Halloween.

Thanks

The short answer is yes.

The longer answer is below:

You can view the Illuminations fireworks from the BW bridge, BC beach or Stormalong Bay.

You can view the Frozen fireworks from the BW bridge, but the view from the beach is better (see last picture). Someone else reported they could see them from SAB.

The photo answer is copied from my current trip report, What Happens at the Beach Club covering the recent FAQ DIS meet antics.

It was right around 9:00 and Illuminations was starting so I booked it over to the bridge. This was the first time I had watched the fireworks from here, and I was pretty impressed!

When the show was over, I texted Rebecca to see where she and her mom were and told her I was on the bridge.

As I was waiting, the Frozen Fireworks at DHS started. Part of the view was blocked by a tree, but it was still good to watch a second fireworks show. While the show was going on, I saw Rebecca and Carol and waved them over.

We moved along before the fireworks ended and when we got to the Beach Club beach area the view of the fireworks was unobstructed. I have seen pictures from some of the rooms that face the lake, and some have a nice view from there.

We watched the rest of the fireworks and then discussed the rest of the evening.

Seeing that you are almost already there, and that you have a group of WDW veterens, i would recommend the one item that many have repeated here on this thread over the years, don't try to do too much. Obviously everyone will want to do what they have done in the past and that is a good thing. DON'T try to force group activities. Suggest things, but be prepared to go off on your own to leave the others to their own devices. Evening activities on the beach for the group, time at the pool together, walking the Boardwalk, and even some friendly putt-putt competition for the group might be something to try to work in but I'm betting most already have things in mind that they want to do. Let them. Don't get disappointed that they don't enjoy the things you do. For the newbies, make suggestions but let them learn on their own. It can be frustrating (like herding cats) if you try to get everyone to do everything together. It just doesn't happen and this can leave you feeling tired and frustrated. Enjoy your vacation and everyone around you will enjoy theirs as well. Hope you and your group have a MAGICAL time. And be sure to get a group picture this Sunday or Monday with Teena in the Beach Club lobby (our favorite cast member at the BC).

Thanks for the kind words about this forum.

I know a lot of threads here can get very disagreeable, but we try to keep the atmosphere here friendly, fun and informative. I am very proud of the positive vibe on this thread and the only time we have any issues is when someone tries to mess with any of our family members here (that's all of us- you too).

:goodvibes
:thumbsup2:love:Totally agree with the sentiment expressed :goodvibes This thread feels like family
In response to cantwaitvaca, this is my first 5K. DD did it last year and loved it, so I decided I would try it. Very excited and a little scared!

Go you! Have a blast :cool1:

For the first time, I'm going to F&W festival! I just booked a quick trip for 11/2-11/6 and was able to get into the YC for those dates. I think that'll make for easy access to the festival. The sad part is that I'm inbetween MNSSHP and MVMCP. Hopefully, I can still see the tale end of one's decorations and the begining of the other. I'm thinking of booking the premium package for the F&W festival and then seeing what the reviews are for it (if it's still available?).

:welcome: back!

Got it! I'll add you to the list.

add us please..

Will do!

What are the pool hours in March?

TIA :)

:welcome:

Shall I add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1? Which resort- BC/YC/BCV?

:woohoo:

When we were there in March of this year, Storm Along Bay's pool hours were 9am to 11pm. The quiet pool's hours were 7am to 11pm.

Thanks!

I know this thread is massive, but a lot of the info you are looking for can be found in Post 13 (FAQ) and Post 14 (Other Useful Info) Posts on Page 1 of this thread. It is worth reading through those couple of posts. One of the nuggets there is "Bring a Container or Chug the Remainder" Words to Live by.

For secret conveniences- there are "secret" entrances/exits to the resort that can be very helpful in very hot weather or if it is raining. See the posts I have mentioned above. For the BC, follow the signs to Room 1501. For the YC, Room 1065, I think.

There is also a dining post (Post 7, I think) that has info and links to the menus for on-site restaurants.

I am not vegetarian, but two of my favorite things to eat in the World (EPCOT) are: The roasted beet & goat cheese salad at Sunshine Seasons and the vegetarian platter (hummus, taboulleh, falafel, pita bread, olives) at Tangierine Café.

Favorite BC/YC Cast Member: Teena! (hands down)- she usually works in the lobby on Sundays and Mondays.

We have a whole section devoted to the Sunken Treasure, the unofficial adult beverage of the Y&BC FAQ thread (Page 2, Community Post)

I don't think there are sailboats available to rent at the marina- but someone can correct me if I am wrong. Again, there is a post about the marina, rental prices and some reviews from guests who have rented watercraft. Amenities post (Post 5?)

:thumbsup2

I know you've already received some great advice and information from Katesdad and Dee so I'll just share what keeps us coming back...LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!

It really is nice to be within walking distance to two parks and having the Boardwalk at your fingertips is another bonus. Can't tell you how often we've just taken a leisurely stroll around the Boardwalk in the evening, taking in the sights, getting a little something sweet at the Boardwalk bakery (they really do have the best desserts and cupcakes :thumbsup2). Renting the surrey bikes is also another fun thing to do with a group and for us, it's really about taking a moment to stop and "smell the roses" so to speak - not something we tend to do when we stay elsewhere. And as much as we enjoyed our most recent stay at the GF a couple of weeks ago, it really didn't feel like "home" as weird as that may sound. BUT, DH & I will be heading back next month to enjoy F&W and we are looking forward to our first YC stay...we truly cannot wait!!!

and Dee... thanks for pointing out that the YC also has a secret entrance/exit. We use the BC one ALL THE TIME to get a mini break from the heat...hoping I don't get lost in the resort though trying to find the YC one :rotfl2:.

Hey there BC/YC friends!!!

Back from our amazing BC vacation and checking in. Actually back on the 27th but so depressed that the trip was over that I am just now up to getting on the DIS and checking in!

We had an amazing trip. We always have an angel :littleangel: looking out for us each trip as we were once again upgraded to Club Level and even more, a Deluxe CL Room (3557)!! Was so wonderful to see Hyacinth and Vilma, my incredible CL friends and spend some time with them. The lounge in the Newport Suite was great. It was the second time we have been there where they have used the Suite as the lounge and I thought everything was as great as it always is. I peeked behind the walls of the lounge construction zone and it looks like the lounge is going to be huge compared to what it was previously! So excited to see how it turns out!

Was our first time with Magic Bands and FP+ and we absolutely loved both! Couldn't of been smoother for us and we didn't have a single issue. The resort looked as wonderful as ever and every single person we encountered, CM's and guests, were phenomenal. I can't say enough wonderful things about this trip!

To top it all off, my DW and I were at our yearly Disney Date at the Yachtsman Steakhouse and our amazing server Tom, told us that he wanted to make our night special (we were joking with him about our kids coming up to the window to visit while we ate, which he witnessed first hand) and asked us if we would want to take a private fireworks cruise over to Epcot to watch Illuminations. Such an amazing bit of pixie dust and what a sweet gesture. Unfortunately at that point it was 8:35 and the Rec folks who run the cruise came to the table and told us we had to be at the boat in 5 minutes to get out to the World Showcase Lagoon on time. We were still halfway through our dinner so we couldn't rush out to take the cruise and had to decline but we thanked Tom over and over for thinking of us (he apologized numerous times for not realizing we didn't have more time) and how touched we were.

So all in all it was an amazing trip. The only downside was that we arrived a day after Teena left for Vegas so once again we missed her. We also missed the Meet which was a major bummer as well. We did book a Bounceback (1st BB offer day was 8/20) for the same week next year. At the time the BC wasn't available so we booked the YC, but I called a few days after we were back and a BC room opened up so I locked it in!!

Happy to answer any questions anyone has on anything I mentioned above or anything anyone else might have questions on. Thanks to all for helping us along the way and helping make our trip amazing!!!

Jay

P.S. Dee, feel free to add us to the BOG list for 8/20/15 - 8/27/15 for BC GV room!!
