You just lost 80 pounds! What are you Going to do next? Ending TR

Such a hard time to be without your mama. Big :grouphug: to you, sweetie. Thanks for letting us know about Kat's Nana. I will be praying for her, too.

Thinking of you as you have your first Mother's Day without your Mom, my friend.

My heart is just breaking for Kat. Mark and I had the pleasure of meeting her at Disney two years ago when she did a solo trip. We had dinner with her and I remember her talking so fondly of her Nana. She and her family are in my prayers at this very difficult time for them.

Such a hard time to be without your mama. Big :grouphug: to you, sweetie. Thanks for letting us know about Kat's Nana. I will be praying for her, too.

Thank you ladies, you both are such a blessing to me and soooo many others. :lovestruc  My love to you both.

I love going to Walt Disney World. I think that's probably a given considering where I am and where I'm writing this.

One of the best things about going to Walt Disney World is all the dining options, there is something for everyone!
The best part, it's not just about the food, it's also about the atmosphere and theming. The CM and the Characters, if you want there to be, always make or break the experience, no doubt.

For us this evening we'd be dining in the Beast's Castle.....

Walking into the Beast's Castle alone is a feast for the senses, walking in for dinner......we were hoping it was going to be a feast fit for a King.

As we wait anxiously outside to be able to go in and dine in style, I'm sure we were all thinking about which meal we'd be dining on.

Well, okay....truth be told, this Dis'er already knew what she wanted and had probably picked it out more than 6 months ago.

Don't I look like I know what I want? I look like a woman who is ready to sit and eat!

As they called us in we were excited to see which room they picked out for us, any guesses as to which room we'd dine in?

This one.....

or this one....

It was the later, and we were excited because while we felt the Ball Room was beautiful, it was also the room everyone wanted to be in, and just about everyone was. It was pretty loud and overwhelming, so I was happy to be in a smaller and more calm room.

The waitress came over and took our drink orders right away and Mackenzie surprised me with ordering one of these....

Who am I to say she can't be a little girl a little while longer. :goodvibes

We all looked over our menu, talked a lot and enjoyed the atmosphere. We couldn't get over the "thunder storm" going on. We really loved seeing the portrait over the fireplace change with the louder thunder boom that would happen ever 20 minutes or so. :goodvibes

We finally stopped talking long enough to know what we wanted and to tell the waitress what we'd like for dinner.

The girls picked the steak with fries for dinner and I picked the muscles appetizer and the trio salad. I figured that would be the least damaging to my diet, because I was sure to have something bad for me at some point. :rotfl:

We talked and had a good time as we waited for our dinner to come to out.
I wish I had been smart enough to take more pictures, but alas I think I was just enjoying being there and taking everything in. As you can tell some came from the internet.
I do believe we were served bread, but because I don't really eat bread any more, it's hard to say for sure that it was there. :rotfl: It's funny what you pay attention to and what we don't when it doesn't mean as much to you. :confused3 What are you going to do?

I think the waitress brought my salads and entrée together and the girls both got a salad, Mackie of course didn't really want hers so I compromised and had her share it with me. This way I was more sure to get a vegetable into the rotten child. ;)

All the food finally made it to our table and I wish I could tell you it met up to our expectations. :sad2:

As I asked the girls what they thought of their steaks, they both looked at one another and I could tell they weren't happy. They neither one had their steaks come as they ordered it and they weren't even hot.

Now, I think I've said this before and I think it bears repeating, I'm a stickler when it comes to my food arriving hot. Food always tastes best when it's hot to start, I know this from being a waitress and I know this because that's how my Mom and I both liked our food. In theory it's better to have it start out hot so by the time you are about done eating it's not completely cold. Sounds logical, right?

Well, that didn't seem to make a difference where we were eating this evening. No, in fact when the next steaks came they came exactly the same as they did before, not cooked to order and even worse, they were cold. Like out of the fridge cold in some spots. We couldn't figure that one out.

Maroo didn't want to seem like a pain about it and said not to say anything, Mackie informed her she hadn't eaten with me much. :rotfl:
I'm not one to keep my mouth shut about such things, I'm not rude, but I also think if you are spending $40 dollars on a steak it better be cooked to order and not cold! :rolleyes2 So, I said...."Maroo, if you were home and spending this much on a steak you would send it back, just because we are in Disney World where food costs and arm and a leg doesn't mean it's okay to have our food come out like this. She agreed but didn't want to seem like she was being a bother, I informed her she wasn't, I was.

continued in the next post......

continued from the last post.....

The waitress comes over to see if the steaks were any better and I said no with a heavy heart. She was not happy, she said she was very sorry and we all informed her it was certainly not her fault. She said..."Well! let's try it again."....this time they came out a tiny bit better but certainly not hot, in fact not even close, they were room temp. :crazy2:

When she came back around we told her it was not any better accept they were not cold in spots this time, not hot, but not cold either.
Needless to say she was very apologetic and wanted to know if there was anything she could do, I think at that point the girls had filled up on the fries they left for them to eat but they were pretty much done.
We of course told the waitress to not feel bad, it was clear it had nothing to do with her and everything to do with the kitchen.

It was at this point that I had realized,.....when we came in I noticed they shut off the library and I thought what a shame, with this restaurant being so popular it didn't make sense to me. But now it was all making perfect sense.....because of how the food was not coming out to specification, I realized the restaurant was entirely too big for their kitchen. Aaaaah, that's right, this girl pays attention.
They had a major flaw in their set up with not having a kitchen big enough to handle the size of the restaurant, so they closed off a room every evening to try and keep up. As you could see by how our food was coming out, that wasn't even happening.

The waitress also noticed I didn't eat much of my meal either, while the muscles were wonderfully hot, the sauce was not to my liking, at all. :sad2: The salads......<big sigh> all but one had sugar to the nine's. I was not a happy camper. I have a major pet peeve when it comes to restaurants defaulting to making everything sweet with the thinking everyone will like it.
To me this is what a Chef does when they don't want to be creative and come up with something that requires them to think about combining tastes. Unfortunately you find this to be a common at WDW. Sadly.

I know, I know. I sound like a total pick-as*, but I assure this is not the case. I know how easy it is to make food come out well without having to spend a lot of time on it. Trust me, I'm not one who likes to spend a lot of time in the kitchen, but I am one who likes to have what I cook taste like I did. :)

The waitress must have informed the manager because she came over to speak with us and to inform us that they took care of the dinners. We were very grateful and let her know that we were NOT upset with the waitress in any way and that we thought she was amazing, top notch. ::yes::
The waitress was kind enough to bring out two "grey stuff's."

I know she was trying to make our experience a better one after what happened and we were very appreciative for it. She even commented on us being great customers, we said there wasn't any point to take it out on her, she didn't do it! She said you wouldn't believe how many people would have, we both said, oh yes we would. :worried:

I think we all decided to get cupcakes and paid the remainder of the bill. All in all it wasn't a horrible experience, but I think we'll only come back for lunch in the future. This would have been a great meal had they had a kitchen big enough to accommodate the size of the restaurant. I think they better figure out a way to make this happen or they will end up with people coming to it just like Cindy's castle, once, to say you've done it.

We finished up and we were sure to have some pictures taken with the Beast!!

I love this one...

I love this one too.....

We finally made our way out and Mackie and I must have decided to part ways from Maroo for a bit to ride Splash. It's a must for us to ride it as many times as we possibly can while in MK. :goodvibes

We're such dorks. :rotfl:

We all met up again and rode BTMR a time or two and then headed out of the park before it started to get out of control for the parade and Wishes, one last picture or two to prove so.....

Well, that's it folks. We. Were. Done. Poke a fork in us.
We made it back to the room and crashed, and I mean hard! We had a big day the next day and we weren't going to miss being up in time to get'r done. :goodvibes

I'm sorry you had to cancel your October trip. I'm still really hoping for November but the bank account is loudly shouting NO. Sigh....

It really turned out to be the best thing. This way I'm able to plan for our son's graduation trip!! :goodvibes

Dang real life!

I know, right?!? :rotfl:

I think Mackie reading in the park is a-ok. I'm such a huge introvert that being around large crowds all day is kind of draining. I also bring a book with me everywhere. Your girl is smart! :thumbsup2

To know you are an introvert makes you being here and commenting that much more of an honor. Thank you for coming out of your shell to do so. :goodvibes :thumbsup2

I think my girlie is smart too, but I'm the Mama, I'm suppose to.

Sorry, some how the posts got away from me. I wanted to be sure I answered to your post. :goodvibes

I was so sad to hear about Kat's nana. I was really looking forward to meeting her. So very sad.

Nice to see an update from you!

OMG - sounds like your meals were a nightmare. I think you absolutely did the right thing. We ate at Jiko in October and Denny's dinner was not up to par. He ate it and didn't say anything about it until later. But I agree that if the food is not to your liking you must speak up. Customer service is important. I also think that when you are used to clean eating being served sub-par food in a restaurant is even more of an affront.

At least you all got to enjoy the wonderful ambiance at BOG. Thanks to Cynthia we will be going for lunch next week.

Loved the update. Looks like you had a fabulous time that evening!

I almost forgot (sheesh) - I will be thinking of you on your first Mother's Day without you mom.

What a horrible meal! Glad your waitress and the manager tried to make it right but was a disappointment.

:grouphug: for tomorrow.

I was so sad to hear about Kat's nana. I was really looking forward to meeting her. So very sad.

I know, I was so disheartened when she called and told me. I know how much she looks forward to her and her Nana's trips together since her mom had passed. She truly cherished their time together no matter where they were. I too had hoped to have met her on a trip someday. :worried:

Nice to see an update from you!

The meal was certainly not to our liking but everything else about being there was pretty great, as strange as that sounds. :rotfl:
Even Mackenzie said she would not want to go back for dinner, lunch was too good to pass up though. I think you'll see that as time goes on in the trip.
Ooooh, I'm sad to hear that Denny didn't like his food at Jiko, you don't hear that very often. Usually everyone raves!
And yes, customer service is very important, and to me it's high on my list. It's why I make an effort to speak to someone, without the feedback they have no idea what is happening. I try to never be rude, just state the facts and always praise where possible to show I'm not just complaining. It usually goes a long way for the manager to seeing the issue and not just me being a complaining customer. :upsidedow

Hands down it's lovely. And there are great things on the menu to eat. :thumbsup2 I think you'll like it.

I know, I finally got to it! And we did have a great time that evening, it was a looooong day. :goodvibes

And thank you, I appreciate your kind words.

Jill! :cool1:

The meal wasn't great, but everything else was wonderful. Believe it or not. It's such a wonderful experience when you are there in the Beast's Castle, at least the girls fries were decent. :goodvibes

Thank you for your beautiful wishes for tomorrow.

Awww, shoot! I hate that your dinner turned out to be less than stellar. You'd think that with it being new and them wanting to impress their guests, everything would be done right. Like you said, though, maybe they just want to get everybody in that one time to say "been there done that". :confused3

I know, what are you gonna do? :confused3 At least we love being there, we'll just stick with lunch. :)

Playing catchup tonight. I haven't DISsed for ten days, oh my!

Dh and I were very disappointed with our BOG dinner. He got the seafood in the pastry and didn't eat the mushy pastry and I got pork chop that was undercooked in the middle and dry around the edges. We left there and went somewhere else to get something to eat! That's really bad when you've paid that much for dinner and you leave needing to go eat dinner. Lunch was good, dinner was not.

That is too bad the steaks were cold and not cooked to order. When we ate there everything was hot.
Nice how they took care of you. Hope if you try it again it is better.
Splash is so much fun.

Hi Millie, I'm all caught up and I just wanted to say I am so sorry about your Mum.

Ms, Debbie! :wave2: Good to see you here.

Oooh, I'm so sorry. Y'all should have spoken up, I'm sure they would have taken care of you. Say what I will about the food, but the service is outstanding. If it weren't for that I would have taken it above the managements head. There is no need for bad service in WDW, or anywhere for that matter. :)

I'm so glad to hear someone had a good experience there. I think Ms. Kat said she had a good experience there too. I'll wait out some reviews before going back for dinner, but lunch....wild horses couldn't keep me away. :)

Alysa!! :wave2:
It's so good to see you again.

Bless your heart you are so sweet, thank you for your kind words. They mean even more to me knowing what you've been through. How are you? I see you have a new link up for a TR I'm hoping, I'll have to check it out as soon as I can. :goodvibes

I'm sorry your meal at BOG was so disappointing. We have had dinner there three times now and each and every time we had a very good meal and everything was piping hot (including the bread and the soup which I had to put ice in to cool down).

You certainly can't blame the waitress for the kitchen staff's lacking. I hope you at least enjoyed the cupcakes.

Great shots with the Beast. :thumbsup2

I love the picture of you and Mackie on Splash Mountain. :goodvibes

I'm happy to hear someone is having a good meal there. :goodvibes Not something you hear often with this place unless it's lunch. Hoping that will change by the next trip. :goodvibes

Never blame the wait staff for something they have no control over. :sad2: Totally enjoyed the cupckaes!! :goodvibes They're amazing, every time. :lovestruc

the pictures with the Beast were fun. He really took his time with us. I've noticed the characters take a loooot of extra time with Mackie this go around.

Splash is our favorite and we were being extra dorks this time. If you look closely you can see me trying to go for my hood (but yet still posing) so I wouldn't get soaked. :rotfl:

Goodness! What a disappointing meal at BoG. Sadly, we've not had a great meal in the three times we've been there for dinner. I finally tried lunch this last trip and loved it - other than a minor issue with room temp fries which they corrected right away. I agree with your observation, I think they overwhelm the kitchen with the volume of food to be served for too many guests that they end up not paying attention to quality.

At least they took care of the bill - that was the right thing to do.

Your cool pose on Splash shows how fearless you guys are! I'm a wimp about getting wet unless it's blazing hot. However, I refuse to wear a poncho so at least I retain my dignity. ;)

I hope all is well with you. :goodvibes I'm a horrible Dis friend right now with how crazy things are between work, wedding planning, trying to keep up running, and my youngest son having surgery last week. Talk soon Camille!

So I shouldn't die if I don't ever get an ADR at Be Our Guest? But it looks so cool inside! Do you think they'd mind if I brought PB&J?
