Free Dining 2014 Discussion

Ok, so I'm one of the people who was planning on Oct 19-27...in the process of switching ADR's for a FD week. My wife asked, "Are we doing this because of rumors on the internet?"....this may have been addressed, but Joe/Black how definite are the dates? 90%, 50%? Just trying to explain to someone who doesn't read disboards....

I wouldn't switch your ADRs if I were you. I would simply add more. At this point, while the release doesn't appear to include your dates at this point, I wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of October bookers jump ship and Disney ends up coming out with more October offers. I'm not nearly as experienced as many of the posters on this board, but if you keep your current ADRs and add some others for different dates, you'll have options if in the event Disney comes out with another release or you get a pin or something. Just be sure you cancel ADRs once you decide so you don't get charged and so someone else can book at the restaurants.

I really hope I am able to do this at POR. It's pretty much my cheapest option with a family of 5. Should I have a back up just in case? I think the only other thing I could do is get connecting rooms at a value.

Yes, definitely have a back-up. I would have had to go with the FW Cabins if I did not eventually get POR. In fact, I did not get it right away. I think it took a month of calling/checking online before POR finally opened up.
For any of you needing POR for 5, if you don't get it right away, don't give up. Persistence can really pay off!

Hi...Can someone explain to me if our dates are good? Aug. 26th-Sept. 4th, we have never had an issue before because our dates have always fallen within promo dates. Do we just get from the 31st on? Thank you!!!

I think your check in date has to fall within the promo but I have never done a split stay.

Did you call the first day for POR?

You would have to book a split stay. The dates are for check in dates.

As an example if FD runs Aug 31-Oct 3 as long as your arrival day falls within these dates you are eligible for the FD, so if you arrive the 3rd you are eligible for your entire stay.

Unfortunately, not even a split stay would help you, unless you want to buy two sets of tickets. You could save one set for a future trip, though.

Do you think all of the dates listed as Free Dining ones in the first post will be available on May 1 or will the dates beyond September be added later?

Thank you, that's what I thought. Right now we are booked with the memory maker package...have to go do some Disney Math...:surfweb:

The first post says those dates are being released on May 1/7 respectively.

Sorry, but you will not get it. Your check-in date of August 26th, does not fall within the FD dates mentioned.

When calling in, do the lines open at exactly 7 AM? Is there any advantage to calling in a few minutes early, like some kind of pre-opening queue?

Ok, so we are booked for 11/5 through 11/14 at POFQ. Two questions: Do you think POFQ will be eligible for free dining? Last year I know it wasn't. POR is our backup. And also, the way to get dining for us will be to book a split stay so we have free dining from the 9th through the 14th assuming the dates are accurate, correct? Anyone know the likelihood of us being able to do this while staying in the same room? We're traveling with a 3 and 13 year old and it would be really nice not to have to move. :)

This promotion should be available as soon as Thursday, May 1 for Disney Visa holders and Wednesday, May 7 for the general public.

The likely dates included are:
August 31 - October 3
October 26 - November 1
November 9 - November 20
December 12 - December 23

Note: First post has been updated.

Whoop whoop!:banana:My dates are included!! Now just wondering which resorts will be included/ excluded. We are booked at POR Garden view, so hoping that is one of them. Not opposed to switching to CBR if need be.

MNSSHP and FD in the same week....thank you Disney Gods....LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

Are you willing to buy two sets of tickets? If not, a split stay will not work for you. Unless you don't plan to go to the parks the first couple of days.
