Dinner was HOW MUCH?! Don’t tell your Dad!-A Princess Half Marathon Trip!-Newx2 11/21

God I love the costumes people wear for this. I see Elsa and Olaf! Cute.

Oh good lord, that's quite a walk just to get to the start of A MARATHON!! I guess it would help to get out the kinks though.

Aww cute Punzie outfit. I still can't believe you made these.

Ok that's pretty cool, four princes, one stop. Apparently Eric and Herc don't get along though. Poor Eric's off in his own little world. Of course I'd be cool if Herc wanted to take care of Eric and all, because, you know, Ariel's be all free and stuff. :scratchin

Gee whiz it's cool getting to have a photo with multiple characters like that. Look at all those villains. :hyper:

THIS IS SO COOL JESS!!! :dance3:

Loving your report on the PHM so far!
Again, another cute outfit, especially love pascal on your shoulder!
What a great set of Princes! And you met Hercules!!!
Looking forward to the next instalment :)

Looks like fun - though can see the potti-less waiting ... And if there is one princess that obviously needs her Disney bathroom it is Repunzel ;)

That's cool that they have the princes and villains in groups rather than having to wait to meet them individually

I know you said the sign was a tease, but still pretty darn cool to get to run under them

I could sit back and costume watch all day at these marathons. Awesome designs and very creative.
I'm glad you like the hill cuz I ran two laps around the Boardwalk and that little incline at the bridge killed my legs. I guess I'll keep to water sports. Lol
Can't wait for the finish. Congrats on another half!!

Following along! I'll be running my first RunDisney race next week (Everest 5K!) so I love seeing your pics and reading your report - I'd love to do the Princess Half someday. I'm in awe of your pacing and length - I can barely jog for 15 minutes before I need a break (I'm averaging a 12 minute mile right now!)

Yayy time for the Half Martahon! All of that waiting sounds very annoying but I'm sure it's worth it in the end! Your costume of course looks fabulous :)

Ahh love your picture with the princes!

Your picture of the MK gates looks so cool!

That villain picture! AMAZING!

The Mickey hands on that DJ are HUGE!!

Can't wait to read the rest :goodvibes

Sorry, Jess, I have been reading but haven't had as much time to comment! Here to catch up...

Via Napoli is just simply amazing. My favorite food on property!!! The PP pics of you and your mom in Epcot, especially the one on the bridge in front of France, are great!

Finally time for the Princess Half!! Another GREAT costume! I may be biased since it's my favorite princess. :goodvibes I love the character opportunities! I don't think there's anywhere else you can meet a group of princes, much less a group that includes Hercules! I think I follow that friend of Hercules on Instagram too. :rotfl: I remember him posting pics of him being out just for the marathon. Very cool! Same with the villains. I love your response to Pascal being called a frog!!

Your costume was awesome!!! Thanks for taking us along for the run.

Looks so fun! You look so stinkin' cute!! I love the pics with the princes.

Aww thank you! I was loving how my costume turned out! :wizard:

Swoon, they were so dreamy haha

The shot with the princes is wonderful!! And I love the villain collection you had. Can't wait to read more.

Thank you! I loved them, so cute. The villians were perfect! They were so sassy I loved it!

God I love the costumes people wear for this. I see Elsa and Olaf! Cute.

THIS IS SO COOL JESS!!! :dance3:

Elsa and Olaf were definitely popular choices this year, I saw so many creative ones, it was great!

Haha I know right?! I guess Disney just wanted us to feel like we were getting our monies worth, 14.1 magic miles vs 13.1 :rotfl:

Thank you! I got a lot of compliments on my outfit, people seemed shocked when I told them all I did was go to town with a hot glue gun!

Haha, Eric was definitely not impressed to be up so early that morning I think. Plus it's such a quick in and out the poor guys on the end didn't have time to say much. Aladdin was still into it though.

Love those Villians. Cruella was so sassy sounding it was fabulous!

:wizard:

Loving your report on the PHM so far!
Again, another cute outfit, especially love pascal on your shoulder!
What a great set of Princes! And you met Hercules!!!
Looking forward to the next instalment :)

Thank you! :wizard:
I loved the way the Rapunzel outfit turned out, I got so many compliments on the pascal on my shoulder.
I swear my mouth almost dropped to the ground when I saw Hercules out, all the other Princesses around me were fangirling pretty hard too haha.

Haha I know right, I have the most epic bathroom in all the land but no potties in the Corral, it's just wrong :rotfl:

I loved all the group shots, they were so fun!

Oh it was very cool to run under them, but still a major tease.

I completely agree, I loved seeing all the unique costumes people came up with, I saw a lot of truly fabulous ones!
Haha being from Maine you either learn to like hills or most runs are pretty miserable :rotfl:
Thank you!

That's fabulous congrats on your first Disney 5k! My Uncle loves the Everest challenge I bet you'll have a blast!
Just keep at it, you can definitely do it! :wizard: I started out only being able to run for about 10mins before I had to stop and walk! And 12 min miles are awesome!

Yayy time for the Half Martahon! All of that waiting sounds very annoying but I'm sure it's worth it in the end! Your costume of course looks fabulous :)

Ahh love your picture with the princes!

Your picture of the MK gates looks so cool!

Thank you so much! The waiting was a bit annoying but it was totally worth every second!

The Princes were the highlight of the race for me, I loved them!

It was really neat running under them all lit up!

Those villains were so fabulous! I wish you could meet them all the time!

I know right? I stopped for a second and was like are those what I think they are?!

Sorry, Jess, I have been reading but haven't had as much time to comment! Here to catch up...

No worries, thank you for following along!

Via Napoli is sooooo delicious, I already can't wait to go back! And thank you I love when photopass photographers are out in WS I love the shots you can get.

Thank you! Rapunzel is my favorite as well so there was no doubt in my mind who I was going to dress up as. The characters make this race so worth it. I could not wait to get to the Princes stop, thinking of them made me run so fast the first 2 miles :rotfl: If that's not motivation I don't know what is!

The Villains were so sassy, Cruella was just fabulous!

Your costume was awesome!!! Thanks for taking us along for the run.

Thank you! :wizard:

Running Through the Most Magical Kingdom of them All! Miles 5-6!

I entered the park backstage behind Tonys, it smelled so good haha. It’s around this time during all my half marathons that I start getting hungry, such torture!
I emerged in Town Square and I couldn’t believe I finally made it MK!

755008-1030-0045s_zpsdee1c7fd.jpg

I ran down Main street trying to soak it all in. The crowd was super loud in here and I was still far enough towards the front of the pack that there was plenty of space to run.

Main Street was packed with cheering spectators, it was quite the sight to see. It was still super foggy so the castle slowly emerged in the distance running down Main street. I couldn’t believe I was actually there!

I stopped at the end of Main street and had a very nice volunteer take my picture

IMG_1632_zpsd965be6b.jpg

IMG_1634_zps1ffbec17.jpg

I made myself keep going, it would have been easy to keep standing there in awe!

IMG_1635_zps633f1481.jpg

Everyone wants a castle pic

I turned towards Tomorrowland

IMG_1637_zps0bde395b.jpg

And stopped for a quick selfie

IMG_1638_zps34c7ca6b.jpg

As you can see in these pictures it was SUPER foggy this morning and pretty humid. The heat and humidity don’t bother me but I was drenched in sweat.. ewww. Haha.

755131-1003-0037s_zps29b1ee99.jpg

Buzz had a short line in Tomorrowland so I stopped.

Most of the character stops in MK has a Marathonfoto photographer plus two character handlers that switched on and off taking pictures with people’s phones. Well there was an older character handler and a young guy when I was here and the young guy just completely took over for the old guy. He was a picture taking machine. He got people moving so quickly it was awesome!

The White Rabbit was out at the Tea Cups but I skipped him since I had seen him the day before and headed towards Fantasyland.

There was a huge line behind the New Fantasyland Castle walls and I knew it must be Mickey and Minnie. I debated waiting and decided to go for it.
The line took between 10-15mins

Pictures from the line

IMG_1646_zps89ada8d1.jpg

The wait went by fast and soon enough I was up!

754999-1016-0009s_zps506a5c3d.jpg

This picture was totally worth the wait. We all color coordinated.

The crowds on the course had definitely picked up during my photostop but I continued on!

1920453_10202245020659790_1545217452_n_zps68efcb5e.jpg

The trumpeters playing while we ran through the castle were awesome!

Running through the castle was beyond amazing!

755004-1083-0023s_zps95a89f78.jpg

755004-1083-0021s_zpsd78f5c79.jpg

They have two lanes when you come down the castle ramp, one to continue the race and one to pull off for a Castle Pic, I obviously pulled off for a pic

755015-1004-0024s_zpsc7b8399f.jpg

This picture really demonstrates the bad part of the handheld waterbottle, trying to hide it in pictures haha.

I also just carried my cell phone in my hand for pics, texting, instagraming so that was ruining every shot too…oops

Running through the MK was beyond magical, I loved every step!
Louis was out in Liberty Square but I skipped him because I saw him the day before but stopped for Woody in Frontierland

755132-1009-0014s_zpsce941ca1.jpg

His line was only a few people deep

IMG_1657_zps3d9edc18.jpg

Mile 6 was in Frontierland.

I exited the part by Splash mountain and headed backstage again.
They had one of the steam trains pulled up to the crossing and the conductors were out cheering, it was great!

I passed a long line for Snow White and her Prince

1185946_10202245015899671_936614132_n_zps187d336b.jpg

Backstage of the MK. I didn’t bother to stop, not necessarily because of the line but just because I’m not a big Snow White fan. Aurora and Philip were switching off I probably would have stopped for them if they were out.
I passed through a water station and just like that the MK portion of the race was over : (

I was in the MK for what felt like forever, I wish I knew my split for that mile.

Whew I can’t believe just the MK was a whole update!

Stay Tuned!

Miles 6-12 It’s all down hill from here!

After exiting the Magic Kingdom the course winds along a two lane road and passes by the Grand Floridian and the Polynesian.

Things are a bit fuzzy through here because I was definitely still on MK high.

I also noticed my fellow Princesses’ were not quite as Princess like through here haha. The best part of the course behind us I think some runners were less than impressed that we were only half way there. I personally really enjoyed this portion of the course so I didn’t let any grumbling let me down!

Around mile 6.5-the half way point- they had Let It Go blasting

1976956_10202245015019649_1606696268_n_zpsed80c64d.jpg

The song was voted for on the RunDisney facebook page. I loved it! I’m a big Frozen fan so it was a nice pick me up!

Soon after that Mile 7 was looming in the distance!

IMG_1659_zpsad79865f.jpg

Over half way there!.

Mary Poppins and Bert were meeting outside of the Grand Floridian.

1479287_10202245012459585_223112981_n_zps0d09ba89.jpg

I love the songs in Mary Poppins but overall I’m not a huge Mary Poppins fan so I skipped them. There line was probably 10 people deep.

Next up were some of my favorite guys of the race

IMG_1661_zpsc8806a19.jpg

The Glass Slipper Gentlemen! The blond one on the end was in the course singing to people (they had microphones on so you could actually hear them). They were too funny, I don’t remember what they were saying but they were hilarious. I waited 3 mins I think for this photo op.

Next up was Genie!

755120-1005-0050s_zps13823390.jpg

He only had a few people in his line. I told him I wished I’d seen him yesterday because I was dressed at Jasmine.

Lilo and Stitch were in front of the Poly

1978703_10202245004739392_278045968_n_zpsc0174c54.jpg

They didn’t have much of a line but I didn’t stop for them. My legs were getting tired and needed to keep moving.

The next portion of the course I believe was sponsored by Cliff and Luna bars

1606411_10201458822407930_414213267_o_zps522554df.jpg

There were a ton of cute signs lining the road

IMG_1664_zpsc2c4845e.jpg

Somewhere around here I believe was mile 8 too.

13242_10202244999179253_839975422_n_zps4bf02a16.jpg

We ran through the fuel stop where they were giving out cliff shots. I believe they had 6 flavors. I brought my own fuel so I grabbed 2 shots but saved them for later.

Somewhere along here I jumped in line for Mrs. Incredible too but then she had to go in for a water break so I moved on. I was a little bummed though I wanted that pic haha.

Before I knew it I reached Mile 9!

IMG_1665_zpsa064235c.jpg

IMG_1666_zps2652d283.jpg

Of course I had to take a selfie

Next up was Princess Atta with only one other person in line so of course I stopped!

755181-1005-0021s_zps2b51797d.jpg

I felt so bad I gave my phone to the character attendant and it was still on selfie mode and he had the hardest time getting it to turn around again.

IMG_1667_zpsbe9ea1b5.jpg

A little way down the road this Princess Balloon was still up.

IMG_1668_zpsa7e82ad9.jpg

We had seen it running to the MK earlier in the race but it was so dark and foggy then you couldn’t really see it. I thought it was a cool addition to the course

Up next was Captain Jack!

755045-1014-0032s_zps405f85da.jpg

He and I think that was supposed to be Barbosa only had a 5ish or so person deep line at this point so I decided to stop

IMG_1670_zps2f7837f8.jpg

I love all these awkward photos the character handler captured haha

IMG_1669_zps8dfa5ff5.jpg

Jack told me “ you look familiar love have we met before”

IMG_1672_zpsb543ee1e.jpg

I told him I try not to hang out with Pirates much

IMG_1671_zps5b4b735b.jpg

This friend of Jacks had the mannerisms and voice down pat, he even seemed a little drunk on rum haha, he was great!

After going through the longest water stop I’ve ever seen I reached Mile 10!

IMG_1674_zpsf698db6f.jpg

The last 3 miles of the course are definitely the toughest. The road narrows and there are 3 over passes in a row. I don’t mind hills at all but I do like to run up them, so I ran in the grass quite a bit.

In the middle of the first overpass I found Sarge

IMG_1675_zps918fe730.jpg

Sarge was hilarious barking orders and insisting this was a marathon not a walk-a-thon

Before I knew it I was hitting Mile 11

IMG_1676_zps2934c11e.jpg

My memory is a bit fuzzy now but I believe the only entertainment for Mile 11 was the kite people who were out earlier. Let’s go fly a kite was still blasting. I wonder how those people felt listening to that on loop for HOURS

IMG_1677_zps3ae76604.jpg

Mile 12, almost there!

There was a DJ out somewhere along here doing her best to pump us up!
We were back in the Epcot parking lot after pasting mile 12. My Mom was trying to catch me over by the resort bus drop off but I couldn’t find her.

Come to find out there’s a switch back around there to let people cross the course and she was on the wrong side and missed me… bummer!

There was a lot of spectators over in this area though, not many cheering but being stared at is good too haha.

Sofia the first was hanging out all by herself in the Epcot back stage area.

1972553_10202244983058850_519867931_n_zpse1b209cb.jpg

I don’t really know who she is so I didn’t stop. I was still having a blast but I could hear that finish line calling my name!

I'm almost out of picture space so stay tuned for the Finish!

Ahhh! It's like being right back there reading it. :lovestruc

I keep looking for myself in your photos, I'm almost sure we were in MK at the same time, based on the time on your mileage pic at mile 6! :goodvibes

You got so many fabulous photos and SPARKLESISTER!! That's a Sparkleskirt, right? :thumbsup2

haha...I just read the next update...you passed me somewhere after the MK! You must be speedy b/c even with stops for photos you were 15 minutes ahead of me by mile 10! Those last three were so hard, BUT, I liked them better than 6-10! I got my second wind as we headed up towards Sarge (I'm a hill girl too, they don't bother me) and my knee actually felt better going UP than Down!

So close to the finish!! That's amazing how you were able to stop for so many characters and photo ops - running through MK looks like a dream.

Jess, I have to ask, where do the photos of you running come from? But not the ones on your camera. I assume there's photographers, but what I find really interesting (and curious), is how you find the pictures of you given there are so many runners.

Wow, Mickey and Minnie look so awesome!!! What a special picture to have.

Honestly, I think Let It Go would really get the blood flowing.

I love all the character meets along the course, especially since they add in a bit of a themed backdrop. Really cool.

Really good call on waiting for the Pirate meet. Clearly that was a good choice.

Also a good call on skipping Sofia. She'll consume your soul. I'm convinced of it. ::yes::

So many amazing pictures! I love all the pictures of you in action. Being in the MK must have been wonderful :goodvibes Love all your character pictures, of course! The costumes on Mickey & Minnie are so wonderful!

Love the updates and all your pictures! Thanks for telling how long the wait was for Mickey and Minnie. I've passed them by both times I've run the marathon because I've been worried about time. Hopefully we will be able to pull it off next year in one of the races.

wow - that picture with Mickey and Minnie in their royal garb is amazing ... totally worth the wait!

Running down Main St. as the castle emerges from the fog must have been such an unbelievable feeling!

Judging by other people in some of the photos, you were definitely not the only person sweating :lmao:

ok, big-headed Sofia the First hanging out on the grassy knoll is kinda creepy :scared:

I can definitely understand people's mood changing a bit after leaving MK as it could feel like "the best is over" but still ... a princess always has to act like a princess ;)

JESS, THAT'S TOTALLY ME IN YOUR MILE 8 PICTURE!!! We practically had an on course DIS meet!!!!! :rotfl2: That was the girl I was talking about in my TR who ran the whole race with a basket that she was keeping her camera in, lol!

Now onto my regularly scheduled comments... :goodvibes :rolleyes1

The Eel is totally freaky. Something about the black eyes, and the texture of his skin weirds me out.

Your pepperoni pizza looks so good!

I love all your marathon photos! They all came out so cute, and fairly 'mist' free. I'm definitely jealous that I didn't stop for the villains because your picture looks great. I'm also loving your picture with Minnie and Mickey. Considering your outfits match (as you said) that one was totally worth stopping for!
