FP + What we know and what we want to know

Yes, its better for everyone else if unused FPs were thrown away. Lines move faster with less people in them of course, be it SB or FP. Shorter waits equates to higher guest satisfaction. Lets use an extreme example. If a large tour group pulls 50 FPs lets say and cant use them and their FP window is right before yours. Would you prefer this group give their 50 FPs to 50 random people or would you prefer they just throw them away? Nothing is lost or negatively effected if you throw away FPs you cant use.

Just look at people on this thread hoping people that end up with early morning FP+'s do not show up so they can continue to have an advantage at RD.

I see what you are saying, but you are only looking at it from the angle that suits your opinion. You could just as easily say that if 50 people give away fast passes that they (for whatever reason) are not able to use, there is no change to others wait time from the baseline of them having used them as originally planned. If they throw them in the trash, then a group of people are getting an unfair advantage and Disney's careful planning and return time algorithms (I believe you may have been one of the sticklers in regard to this) are being subverted.

God forbid someone do something nice for others. The affect here is really negligible. I think you are being a little ridiculous in what you are taking issue with.

Yes we do. Longstanding policy is that Disney (I almost said "we" - that's how many times I gave that speech to a guest at work previously) do not give benefits/perks on speculative purchases. You must meet the criteria at the time of booking.

Disney had a longstanding policy that FPs could be used any time after the beginning of the return window and that was changed. This could change as well.

A quick comment about those who pull FP's and then end up giving to another family later in the day...isn't that equivalent to "spreading the wealth" for those poor, unfortunate souls who may not know the system?

And for that matter, isn't that essentially what "surprise and delight" FP's will be in the new world?

So why do some people have such a beef with that practice? Because a piece of paper says "non-transferable"???

So in that scenario.. (and just humor me here..I know nobody knows for sure), I might be better off upgrading my 2 day tickets when we get there in February. We have AP's for this trip but we will be letting them expire in May so I won't use them, but could upgrade them now, so that *IF* fastpass plus is rolled out before my trip in August I am safe with my 8 day tickets and room only reservation.
It's really the only reason I am asking... Just wondering if I should add the days sooner rather than later.

And I just want to point out for the parking lot analogy nonsense..

Disney does not park anyone "upfront" based on arrival time to reward you for arriving early. They park the lots based on what works logistically for them. They have and will continue to park the rear lots or further away lots first on days when they need to modify the parking schedule to allow for adequate space.

The lots of Epcot are a perfect example of this. One of the furthest lots (Wonders) is parked early in the morning if they anticipate peak crowds.

Disney will do what is good for Disney and guests as a whole, not what is good for for "you" because you think you've met some criteria to be entitled to it.

You know what I don't get? Why do you so often put cruel, personal jabs in what would otherwise be reasonable posts? What do you gain from that? :confused3 I mean, if you had just left out the word nonsense it would have been constructive.

Oh, forgot that you also had to throw in the word entitled at the end as well. I am really concerned if you are truly in management. I can't think of any company that speaks so openly about disdain for deeply loyal customers.

Ha! Ha! I had to do a double take - DH's cousin is in the rocket science program at UC Berkley - I had a feeling I might see her name at the top - she was practically born at DLR. :rotfl2:

Her parents are the ones who taught us to "do" Disney. In our family that doesn't mean going on the same ride 7 times. It means getting there early and getting alot done, then relaxing at the end of the day. I haven't asked what they think about FP+- They both grew up there - dated there - I'm guessing it wouldn't make them too happy.

I would. I'm wondering what I'm going to do with our 2-day passes that I planned on upgrading (and using) when we went in June.

Ugh, screwed up the quote: So in that scenario.. (and just humor me here..I know nobody knows for sure), I might be better off upgrading my 2 day tickets when we get there in February. I suspect the various other tickets will become pre-order reserved media that the system can recognize, like AP vouchers. People tend to think of APs as something different than a regular MYW ticket. They're not, they're just a MYW ticket with a ton of days admission programmed into them as far as the computer is concerned. If an AP voucher can be recognized by the system, so can the others if preordered. Anything you cant preorder? Tough.

Then I hope they get rid of the charge to get them mailed to you, unless they automagically associate them to your account.

But what is the criteria? They haven't said for how many days ANYONE can book ahead. Only that it "may be limited".

Would a 2-day ticket associated with a 10-day stay be treated as 10 days, or 2?

Or like another poster just said, will they allow easy upgrades online?

You make a good point (even if it's off topic). The Disboards have a tradition unique on the internet: a friendly, helpful gathering of Disney fans. We gather, give advice, commiserate when things don't go as we expected, critique Disney management and most importantly share our love of Disney. I hope that tradition continues because it really differentiates Disboards from so many other Disney fan sites.

You can always upgrade them in February and keep them for later - but you won't be able to follow the "use first them upgrade" policy to get any possible price bridging due. If you know your tickets are valued at the current gate price and you know what you need later, then it might actually be better to upgrade now, just in case prices change before the later trip...

please forgive me if I am not quite understanding the basic thought so far. I usually buy military tickets upon arrival on property. Am I understanding that I will not be able to reserve fp+ times without my tickets in hand? I understand that everything right now is speculative but am trying to get a basic hold on the idea and also considering if I will advance purchase myw passes instead of waiting for the discounted military passes. If it matters, I have a split stay btw SOG and Poly.

A&A :goodvibes I'll chime in because I brought it up the first time. We are doing the same - actually found the S&S tickets at SOG would be cheaper than buying 8 days back to back for 6 park days.]

We may go to MYW too, although this is just what Disney wants, according to Mousermerf - no ticket discounts for anyone - nice way to thank the military, huh? Comments here so far suggest that you need a ticket number, not a room ressie # in order to use FP+ and if you don't opt in to that you will be SOL for getting any FP at all by Summer.

I have a message in to www.militarydisneytips.com - he is in touch with officials at Disney and can get the scoop when it gets decided. I am also going to email SOG tomorrow and see if I can get them on it.

A former Disney employee appearing to show his disdain for the very customers that paid his wages by being there and spending money. I prefer to think that most CMs do want to spread the pixie dust and magic - we have had so many wonderful moments with CMs - its what will bring us back, even if we don't get to ride everything we want.

Well, obviously less people in lines is better. However it the impression that I've gotten over this thread is that if someone gives those fastpasses away, then the impact on other guests is worse than if that person would have ridden themselves. And that just doesn't jive. Of course not getting in line is better for everyone..less people, less time...but having that FP get used doesn't increase the effect on anyone any more than any individual pulling a FP does. It's not abuse.

Thanks! I was planning on doing S&S tickets too. I will also email SOG to see if they can help get us info. I guess time will tell (but I'm not very good at waiting!)

I consider myself pretty Disney obsessed by I'm clearly quite outclassed in this company :o) I'm wondering how you all would suggest I stay up to date on the facts. I'm subscribed to this thread but it's completely overwhelming to me but I need the sub to find out if the first post is edited, correct? Any suggestions?

I have been updating the first page whenever something new pops up, changes, or somebody asks a new question. I will follow bigAWL's lead and add a date at the top each time I update - maybe that will help.

The thread may be a train wreck, but page one had been helpful for many! I have enjoyed much of the discussion. I appreciate the moderators leniency and open mindedness in allowing it to continue. Is there a limit on length? I thought I read that somewhere many moons ago.

I havent read the rest of the pages but wanted to comment on this. I was part of the trial and also had the option to change my choices up until the time of my FP, however even days before, there was no availability of attractions to change to, I see this being the same when the roll out happens. I wouldnt put any stock in being able to change on the fly.

Thankyou for letting us know about this. We have had so much speculation about what MIGHT happen, but not very many have actually experienced it. This really seems to confirm our fears. If I missed it, I''m sorry - did you have 3 choices? What were they? Were regular FP still available to you?
Did you do a survey? Do you mind sharing your responses?
Did you find some good points in it?

OMG -- same here!!! I posted earlier that I was going to just wait for real info, and I got sucked back in!! LOL!!!

Look: don't anyone discuss statistics, representative samples, etc., or draw general/larger conclusions based on pure conjecture, and it'll be easier for me to stay away... oh, wait... ;)

Thanks again for keeping track of all the "page one" items. I missed a day and there were 30 pages! The limit is 250 pages, then you can start part 2 with a link back to part 1.
