145 Middle Schoolers: Wicked Awesome or Epic Fail???DeParting-Such Sweet Sorrow p. 76

Well Dee today is my last chance at a teaching position for this coming school yr. I should get a call sometime this afternoon. If I don't get it, I was offered a para job at my son's old elementary school. Obviously it's not what i want but at least it's a job. I'll probably be able to get a teaching position in the system a little easier next yr. too.
I'm trying really hard to convince myself that it's ok to take this position. It's like taking a gigantic leap backwards. (I've been teaching for 15 yrs.)
I just need to suck it up!!! lol

Also sending good wishes your way! Really hoping you hear good news.

:goodvibes

If not, then the para job is there for you.

Good luck! The waiting is so difficult.

I've been in the running for a job for the past 7 weeks and just found out today that it could be another 6 weeks before I know for sure. It is so hard to sit back and wait when you have your future to plan.

You should definitely take the other position, because that is still better than no job, and like you said it puts you in a better position for the next round of opportunities.

Thanks!! I have until Friday to take the para position if I don't get the teaching job. The para is definately better than no job!! :)

If I do get the job DH said we're doing a Disney cruise!!!! To celebrate yay!

I have to admit....many many years ago I did call Mk Disney World. I was young and dumb and didn't know till I actually visited. My first visit was when I was little and thats what it was called then. After my 2nd visit in my 20's I learned it had a real name!!

But Wild Kingdom...who the heck calls it that? :rotfl:

I am always amazed when people don't know the names to the parks though now. I am planning our family trip, and some are complete newbies...and just call it the animal park...I bite my tongue...a lot!

I remember meeting some woman at breakfast one morning and we got to talking about our trips and I asked her which park they were going to that day and she said "Disney." I said "I know, but which park?" She said Disney again. Then it dawned on me she was talking about MK. It was a real "Whose on first?" moment.

I seriously bow down to you :worship: for being able to deal with all those teenaged boys on just four hours of sleep!

And if you would indulge me in allowing a small rant before I get into describing the morning.
SNIP!!
But I could not believe all of the adults on this trip who said we were going to “Wild Kingdom”. Yes, I watched the Mutual of Omaha show faithfully. But Marlin Perkins passed away in 1986. It’s ANIMAL KINGDOM, people!

(Looking guilty) I have been known to refer to Animal Kingdom as Animal Planet. (Skulks away...... :tiptoe: )

What kind of Trip Report would it be without a picture of me and my cooperative son?

It certainly starts early, doesn't it? I hope you got the picture(s)!

The chapter with the tears is a few updates away, but it is already written. I did that a week or so after I returned from the trip. You know how they say it is very theraputic to write about something that is bothering you...

How's that for a teaser?
Got lots of pictures-much to his disgust:rotfl2: Told him his children would want to see what he looked like when he was wee to which he replied "I'm never getting married I'm staying with you until you die:love:Then I will get a dog!". At least I know I can be replaced by a DOG!!:rotfl:

Glad the Dis provided you with some therapy for free lol. You know what they say-if it doesn't kill you it'll make you stronger! Bet you're stronger than you thought possible (and at least you know what you're up against if you decided to chaperone Ben's trip when the time comes):)

Thanks!! Just found out I won't know until tomorrow ugh!!!!

I am sending you good wishes and pixie dust hoping you get the teaching job. If you don't being a Para is ok. It gets you back in the system, and that's a good place to be. I know people who subbed in the system for a lengthy period of time because it got them back in the system. Good luck, I will keep my fingers crossed. Penny:wizard:

Lots of people thinking good thoughts and hoping both of you can share some good news with us soon!

Last night, Nate had his high school orientation, and of course a lot of the kids who went on the Disney trip were there. I prepurchased a photopass CD, made edits/added borders and made CD copies for everyone on the trip.

When I handed one out last night, one of the moms told her husband- this is from the special cards. (translation: Photopass cards)

I know what you mean about going to "Disney"! That drives me bonkers too!

I also hate when I'm trying to explain something (like not being able to get FPs with non-activated tickets) and no matter how hard I try, the other person doesn't get it! Outside of the DIS, I don't often like to show my crazy-Disney-fanatic side... but sometimes there's just no other way!

I'm sure all of us are practiced in using restraint when dealing with others who may not be as *ahem* enthusiastic about all things Disney. It is kind of like trying to speak to someone else in a foreign language they don't understand.

I texted a bunch of my friends from MK (NOT Disney) that I had a pocketful of FP. Not realizing I would have to explain to her what that means.

I can't wait for the details on the photo force!

My biggest peeve is "Harry Potter World"

IT'S NOT CALLED THAT!

:lmao:

Nor it is just called Harry Potter.

Ok, is it a ridiculously long name? Yes but really, it's the name! Use it!

Rant over.

Wizarding World is short enough, and I think acceptable. Although I am guilty of calling it Harrypotterland, mostly as a joke. I'll make sure I don't do that around you, though.

;)

Honestly, most of the group I was traveling with called it Wild Kingdom instead of Animal Kingdom.

One of our livery drivers on the way to the airport did that too, when I handed over my Disney Visa to pay. Something like "My wife really likes Disney World, but I like the other parks"

Even with some of the trouble with our large group of boys, gotta tell you I'm thankful I wasn't chaperoning the girls!

On the whole, the boys in our group were really good with minimal problems.

And then you went to MGM and tried to order a pepperoni with salad at Pizza Kingdom?

He is too funny!!! I hope you are writing these things down.

I figure chaperoning the middle school trip is sort of like childbirth. When the next time comes around, you somehow have forgotten all of the pain and you are ready to do it again. I'll just consider it a 120 hour labor!

Just wanted to say hey and that I'm really enjoying your TR. I don't often comment but I'm here reading along :thumbsup2

Poor Q and poor you. I would have been totally incoherent being woken up after just having fallen to sleep. I don't miss those days of being woken up in the middle of the night at all.

We are going to Potterville this October. Yes, it's wrong but I like it anyway. However the "Disney" for Magic Kingdom is a pet-peeve of mine as well.

I was going to skip to the newest entries from you to catch up but couldn't pass up reading the comments. I enjoy reading some of them as much as your trip report. I hope we get to see some of Flat Ben's antics from his upcoming trip. My daughter asked me what I was giggling about while I was reading some things he might be doing and I said "Flat Ben". Her reply is who is that. I told her he's a boy that really wants to go to Walt Disney World again. She suggested he needed to come with us too. I told her maybe he would and he could even join us at MNSSHP. She said, "Yes, we do need a Flynn." :)

Well Flat Ben is laminated and ready to travel. Last minute details (my stupid Lime Green Disney Suitcase broke, so waiting for DH to find another suitcase. I have way too many of them, so he will have no trouble finding one). Flat Ben will not be packed (we want him to enjoy the plan ride). I will have Jim take a picture of him on the plane (hopefully we can find a cute girl to hold him) and Dee will post it. LOL:cool1:

Glad to hear you are here and enjoying the ride! Believe me, I know you have your hands full!

Going to Pottersville... I like that!

I'm a very very light sleeper and normally very alert once I am awake. It shocks me that I fell so completely back to sleep!

I'm enjoying the comments and commenting, too!!! FYI- I learned over at the Beach Club FAQ thread that Flat Ben may be having some exciting adventures at the Tequila Bar in Mexico with Penny's DH! Oh my!

:scared:

I'm working on his costume with for his MNSSHP with pixarmom (it will be different Flat Ben for that) and I may have a good picture of Ben in Colonial costume that would be great for Flynn (except that he is wearing a Tricorn hat)

Your trip is so close- you must be SOOOOOOOOO excited :banana::banana:

Sounds like you will be having fun with Flat Ben! Thank you!!!

I haven't quite decided yet if The Adventures of Flat Ben will be part of this report or a separate trip report. I will definitely be posting pictures here and on the BC/YC FAQ.

Flat Ben should be fine on the plane ride- he has never gotten sick. But we did have an incident on Mission Space Orange... so a little tiny flat barf bag might come in handy if you are going on the teacups or anything like that.

Once again, have a FANTASTIC trip!

That is so awesome!!! Yay Ben is finally going to Disney again!!! :)

Can't wait to hear about the adventures of Flat Ben! I hope he and his travelling companions have a fantastic time! :goodvibes

Is it weird that I find myself getting quite excited at the prospect of Flat Ben's trip?:rotfl:

I think a lot of people are joining you in your excitement. Including me!

Ben is amused by all this but for some reason it is not quite satisfying his desire to visit Disney!

I think Penny and her DH are going to show Flat Ben a really good time.

3) I’m not handing over my room key

I started out my morning as I typically did. Grabbed my ice coffee and slipped out of the room with my phone and camera. Walked around the resort taking early morning pictures

Next up: Best.Safari.EVER!

Dee - I agree with you that I would not be able to hand over my room key.

I have never heard anyone use the term Wild Kingdom. A friend, who is in Disney now, told me how excited she is to be able to take a boat over to Disney World from the Wilderness Lodge.

Love your pictures! Can't wait to see your safari pics.
