We did matching tie dye mickey's. They were fun to wear, we got lot's of compliments but most importantly with a 6 and 8 year old and 2 grandparents along it was easy to spot where everybody was :)

I made shirts for me and all my friends for the Disneyland half marathon. We called ourselves the pirate runners and even the little ones did the kids races and diaper dash. I really think it added to our trip and camaraderie :) we got tons of compliments!

I also made shirts for my daughters 4th birthday at Disneyworld :D

One month tip our next trip.... Gotta make more shirts! These were designed by some fabulous people on this board. Soooo grateful!

A lot of families do the matching shirts to find each other easily in case they are separated

Count DH and I in on the people that do it for this reason. We don't wear Disney ones though. We have tye dye shirts we made earlier this summer, none match but they're both tye dye. We wore those one day on a Cedar Point trip this summer. We also have some matching Conan O'Brien shirts that we like to wear. We also each have an Avengers t-shirt, mine is Thor and his is Cap. It's really rare we do it at home but at theme parks when I like to walk much faster than DH sometimes, it's easier. :thumbsup2

We did "color" days. Orange day, red day, purple day etc. Also did Purdue and Colts days, which the boys really liked. No extra cost for clothes either.

:wave2: hello fellow Hoosier! DH and I aren't into sports at all but he did go to Purdue so that's a clever idea!

We are a matching shirts at Disney family (NEVER anywhere else -- that's too dorky! :rotfl:) It is so easy to find each other in a crowd and it makes for great photos. We don't always match exactly, but we do some days of matching, some of coordinating or themes (e.g. "Life is Good t-shirt day, Phillies t-shirt day, Penn State t-shirt day, Phineas and Ferb shirt day...) We have done the iron ons from the DIS-igns board, the tie dye mickey heads, etc. I love planning our shirts for each trip. Our DS is 7 this year, and he likes doing the shirt thing for now. Some day I'm sure he'll hate it, but it will be fun to look back on our matching shirt pictures with him some day!

This is probably my favorite matching t-shirt picture from when we went with extended family: (our shirts all say "Getting Wild at Animal Kingdom")

Yes, I'm sure that all the men forced to wear matching shirts with their two-year-old little girl and wife are SO happy! :lmao: They just don't want to say it to their wives..........but deep down..........:lmao:

because making a blanket statement about all men is totally okay and hilarious...:rolleyes2

We haven't done matching shirts, (yet), but it's really only a matter of time. The first year we took DD, each of us got a t-shirt with a character and our name on it, (DH was Peter Pan, mine was Wendy, and DD was Tinker Bell.) That's as close as we've come to coordinating so far.

Matching shirts.......dorky but fun!!!! My dh is not a huge fan but he is so sweet that he will do it. My kids are 7 and 9 so still think it's really fun when we all match!! We love making our tie dye shirts!

Too funny! I just finished making matching shirts for all 6 days of our up coming trip and my hubby thinks I'm out of my mind. I'm bringing 3 children (4,4,&2) with me who are all runners, so I'm hoping by identifying them as mine with their t-shirts it will make them easier to keep up with. Plus, I think the shirts are adorable! Disney is probably the only place I'd do it, but I think it's a lot of fun. To all you DISers in the parks next week, if you see a crazy looking lady running after a toddler in a matching shirt, please help my out and stop the kid. =)

You can add us to the matching/coordinating column. AND not just at WDW (no I'm not embarrassed to admit that :cool2:). Once a year for our official family portrait we always coordinate a color. One year it was white button down shirts with jeans lounging in the garden (ala Princess Di and sons) When DS was a teen he would roll his eyes (not in front of me, smart kid) but now that he's an adult, he looks back through the albums and says he understands now and will probably do the same with his own family. Will add that in public its just me and the little DDs coordinating colors/patterns (not completely matchy match). That way if someone wanders off, there's only one color we need to look for, although I always let them choose their own accessories. Not worried too much about DH and DS getting lost cause they have phones for tracking.

It always puts a smile on my face whenever I see a family/group matching, especially when it includes all ages. Makes me think how cool it is that a family is willing to be seen and acknowledged together (special kudos to husbands and teenagers! They sure must love their co-ordinator ;):goodvibes).

It honestly doesn't bother me what other people do. If a group wants to wear matching shirts each day, God bless them. My family wears matching shirts for one day each trip so that we can take our Christmas card photo - last year we all wore "Don't Mess With Texas" t-shirts and it was a hoot. The year before we all had "Habibi" (the camel) t-shirts we bought in Morocco (EC). It's fun and it's something we don't do in the "real world.

It's just something moms to do even the score after so many years of late night feedings, dirty diapers, meals prepared, parent-teacher conferences, driving lessons and teenage attitude.

We did it on our last trip. Each one of us had a primary color with Mickey outlined with our names. They really made our pictures pop. We looked like a bag of skittles!:rotfl2:Have to say that we had many people, including CM's, stop us to tell us how great we looked. I would never do it anywhere but WDW, but so glad we did. Now that my twins are 13, I know that they would nix the idea, but glad we did it for one trip. When my parents took all their kids and grandkids 16 years ago, we all went to Old Navy and got American flag shirts in one of 3 colors. We have a great picture of all 18 of us in front of the carousal my parents had blown up to poster size and hangs in their house. Some day when my boys have families of their own, I hope to do the same. That will probably be the next time we do matching shirts!

Brilliant! I will remember this when my children are older. I'm thinking pastel shirts with ruffles and gingham. :lmao:

All men? Probably not. The secure ones who want to share the enjoyment with the rest of their family- sure. My DH was the one who asked why our family hadn't done the matching Tshirt thing yet after seeing them years and years ago. And HE was the one who went to the hat store at MK and ordered up mickey ears for everyone at our daughter's wedding, complete with their names embroidered on them.

And be sure to take LOTS of photos! :thumbsup2 You never know when they'll come in handy.....

We have discovered that another benefit to matching tees with a larger family group is that you have fewer people cutting into the middle of your group at the ride entrances. It also provides a good visual for the CM's collecting FP's and loading the ride vehicles. It really is a good way to keep everyone together.

Hey there.. It's not just an Aussie thing. You don't see too much of that in Europe either but if they're enjoying it, go for it. It's quite amusing when you see a mass of lime green coming towards you in all shapes and sizes. Variety is the spice of life, as a wise person once said :goodvibes

I don't think it has anything to do with any country. I can't imagine anyone trying it in my family (including extended family). If someone suggested it, I don't think there would be a chance for it to happen.

I know many families do it because it makes them feel safer and that they can find each other easier. And of course, some people just like it.

We had a group of 15(one being a 15 month old) on our last trip and we had an awesome DISigner do a shirt DISign for us and the men in the group still wear theirs at times, we had them professionally printed for us on grey tydyed shirts. I actually wore mine yesterday, sometimes the world makes you do silly things, but isn't that what Disney is for??

You're at Disney....What passes for embarrassing outside the "world" is seen as part of the experience in the "world"....

Yep.

DH and I did this once for one day on our 2009 trip. Mostly because we both found a cool Disney shirt in one of the stores. It was actually DH's idea to sport the matching shirts on our last Disney day. I usually enjoy seeing the matching families. I like the families who have their personally designed shirts. It's fun.

I will say that I wished I had implemented matching shirt day with my mother on a trip once. Every time I turned my back, she'd disappear. It took twice the time to get through World Showcase.
