Disney's Art of Animation Resort hotel

We have 2 connecting rooms at All Star Movies but when LM rooms became available for the Sept. free dining promotion, I called to try to switch our reservation. When the CM saw that we had connecting rooms at ASMo, she told me that LM rooms did not have connecting rooms. We could get rooms next door to each other but that there were no connecting rooms in the LM buildings. (We have 8 kids-2 under 3 so we can still fit in two value rooms.) I just took her word for it, but you are the second person here on the DIS that has said they had/have LM connecting rooms. Bummer, because we really wanted to stay at Art of Animation but now there are no LM rooms available for the dates we are going. :(
There are most definitely connecting rooms in the Little Mermaid section. We are also a large family and we have two connecting rooms booked at LM section in November.

And you know this how? That section of the resort hasn't even opened yet. I mean, I expect they will, but they may not...and connecting rooms are NOT guaranteed.

No. Its not. I had 2 connecting LM rooms booked about a week ago until I switched to a suite. We have 4 kids and I was repeatedly told that due to our family size, we were guaranteed a joining room. Maybe that is a stipulation? :confused3

This is something that appears constantly here.

I don't know why CMs making the reservations assure people that their connecting rooms are "guaranteed". If you read the fine print it always states that requests are never guaranteed, reguardless of what the CM says over the phone.

It wouldn't surprise me if there were no connecting rooms. What's Disney's motivation? It's an extra building expense, an extra hassle for room assigners, and less money for them than the alternative (family suite).

That is an interesting observation; being an architect, it really intrigued me. I wonder if that was discussed around the table during the initial kick-off meeting.

Until they open that section and people start staying in the rooms, we won't know for sure. We all know how well informed the CM's can be.

I do feel bad for people that somehow end up having "Guaranteed Connecting Rooms" on their reservation. While we ask for them quite often, and almost always get them, there has been one trip where we didn't. Sometimes Disney does run out of connecting rooms, and someone has to get stiffed.

Plus, they don't even guarantee you will get a room category that you pay more for! Twice I've been downgraded! If they won't guarantee something you are willing to give them more money for, they sure as heck won't really guarantee something that doesn't make them a few bucks.

But I can't see them every making a resort without connecting rooms. That an interesting thought though.:scratchin

So true; nothing is guaranteed. If you read the fine print, all they owe you is a room somewhere on-site.

Our last stay at Pop, we requested connecting rooms, and we didn't even end up with adjoining! Our rooms were on opposite sides of the building. And it wasn't even a super busy time. (Granted, we are four adults. It might have been different if we had kids.)

Okay I also have to requested connecting LM rooms for my family it's cheaper than the suites... But what's with the attitudes here?! Just like all the Disney resorts there will be connecting rooms at a limited availability and priorities:confused3 occupying these rooms first. Why do ppl have to dish out rude reply's when someone is happily excited about their ressies?! If you don't have something nice to say don't say anything at all I thought Disney fans would know that saying well:flower3:

The LM section was originally a portion of the second half of POP. The buildings are identical and will have connecting rooms.

We ended up as far apart from each other as possible, without one of the rooms being in a different resort. They did move one room to be in at least the same decade as the other (why they couldn't have started with us in those two rooms, I don't know). Like you, it wasn't a busy time (January).

Ditto on this. The main structure of the building was already constructed and the concrete poured years ago. The layout of The Little Mermaid building is identical to POP's.
