Hi

Does anybody know how long it usually takes Chef Brian to respond to an email?? I emailed him last week and as yet have not had a reply - I just wondered if this was usually the length of time it takes or whether my email had gone astray??

He emailed me back within an hour. Check your address and make sure it's correct. Another thought is that maybe he's on vacation this week....?

Any ideas for my dads birthday? We are staying at the Contemporary in November and would love to have something sent to the room but would like to keep it under $100. Anythoughts that is for a guy? :confused3

Has anyone had a Monster's Inc Cake? DF and I are going to Tea at the Grand Floridian and well I always called him my kitty for the longest time. And he calls me his boo like on Monsters Inc so I was wondering if anyone has ever had a monster's inc cake:)

I made reservations for Ohana for my daughter sweet 16 celebration. I was thinking of ordering the celebration cake for her as a surprise. Any feedback? Is it worth it?

I've been thinking of ordering a cake for our upcoming anniversary trip, and kind of curious as to how early one should go about ordering one. I'm spoiled by my local bakery in that we can typically order any cake with a day or two's notice, and obviously that prolly won't work for Disney :). But ordering excessively early isn't too helpful either.

Yeah, you only need about 2 weeks to 48 hours, depending on the complexity of your cake... The first post in the thread gives all the info you need. The rest are just pretty pictures.

It is certainly way cheaper than a specialty cake. I think officially it serves 6; 8 of us were able to have a reasonably sized piece, and it was worth it since we're not big dessert eaters (in other words, we didn't 'give up' something we had been craving).

Check out the Disney Parks Blog for today: http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2010/06/wedding-trends-untraditional-cake-toppers/

Someone want to grab the photos to their Photobucket or something so they can be indexed here?

Good idea! :thumbsup2

From the Disney Parks Blog post on "untraditional" wedding cake toppers (when are they gonna finally spring for a copy editor?)...

(Toppers like these next two are provided by the bride and groom, not a standard Disney option)

Just throwing out some suggestions here, but Mickey is popular, classic, not feminine. Any male character that's his favorite would be good like Pluto or Donald. I particularly like pics of the ride cakes if you know what his favorite ride is. That's something that's really uniquely WDW that he would appreciate I think. What's his favorite resort? Depending you could go with a Polynesian theme, beach theme, clown pool theme, POFQ theme, POP theme, I think you get the picture. From what I hear Brian is at the Contemporary and he looks like he can do great things with very little direction if you wanted to pick a fairly broad theme and then flavors. I've also heard sports are popular, Mickey playing golf...I myself am hoping that Brian can take a fairly odd theme and do great things so I'll send some good thoughts your way :wizard:

What I ordered: a 6" cinderella blue cake, chocolate on chocolate, with a white glass slipper on top. Priced $66 to be delivered to dinner at 1900 Parkfare by the GF bakery.

It was beautiful, but tasted horrible. It was dry and rubbery. The icing was grainy. I guess you can't have your cake and eat it, too. The entire thing (minus 2 bites and the chocolate/sugar decorations) went into the trash...

Hi

Hi All. Just to update you. I've now heard back from Jessi at the Contemporary. I didn't even need to resend my email, I just got a response this morning. I was obviously being my usual impatient self!!

Anyway, she said it is no problem about getting my cake. So I am getting an 8" Mad Hatter style cake with a 2d Thumper and Miss Bunny image on top. It will be in red velvet cake with a cream cheese filling. It will cost in the region of $135 ++ I am a little nervous at the ++ I have to say, but very excited about the cake. It will be worth it to see Ambers face. And having 16 days of free dining we can hardly complain at having to pay for something :rotfl:

Just so I am not too shocked on the night - has anybody had an 8" mad hatter who will have a better idea of exact cost??

Oh no, I can't believe it tasted so bad!! That's terrible. It was beautiful!

Did Disney quote you the "++" or is that your shorthand? :cutie: Because when Disney says "++" it means "+ 18% service charge, + 6.5% sales tax"...

Interesting to hear the Contemporary is offering red velvet and cream cheese now. Back in December all I could get was chocolate, vanilla and a few fruity combos. :thumbsup2

So I called the Cake Hotline because I have to cancel a cake order. I haven't heard back yet (I left a message). I'm hoping that it's because it is the weekend. Our plans have changed and we are no longer eating at the Contemporary.

Should I call back on Monday?

I just ordered a cake for my DS (8) at Wolfgang Pucks. I have been between a Mickey Head cake in our room at WL or a cake at dinner. I finally decided to go with dinner - we will just have arrived in WDW and Wolfgang Pucks is our first dinner out. Plus DS will have just finished competing at Nationals and so it seems to me to be more celebratory to do the cake at dinner. I called WP and ordered an 8" chocolate cake with pastry cream filling and chocolate icing. They are going to write on it - "Great Job Karate Kid". It costs $35. I had a choice of choc, van, carrot or marble cake; pastry cream, raspberry and something else - I forgot...icing choices were - chocolate, buttercream or whipped cream. I am thinking maybe I should have done the marble cake, hmmm...
Anyone ever order a cake from Wolfgang Pucks??
Debbie

Cake for DS's birthday ordered for when we have dinner at Chef Mickey's. I was wondering if l should call the cakeline again a few days beforehand to confirm everything's fine with our order or is it not necessary to do this?
