Your Shameful Disney Secret??

I, Disney Dreams, have a Disney secret.

Okay, so, growing up I always enjoyed the Winnie the Pooh characters and stories. I realize they are not originally Disney, but I came to know them "in person" at Disneyland when I would see the characters.

Christopher Robin was a boy. Tigger was clearly a boy, as was Eeyore. I never identified with Kanga because she was the Mom, and I was a kid. I didn't want to relate to Roo because I saw her as a baby, "which I am not," as I would remind my family. Therefore, I connected with the only main character that was a girl: cute, pink, fun-loving, Piglet. I loved Piglet, wanted everything Piglet, and knew in my heart that Piglet and I shared a girl bond, along with the princesses and Minnie Mouse. Piglet was one of us girls. She was my pal.

Oh yeah, I know... now. I was probably 11 or 12 when I discovered that my fellow girl Pooh character was - :scared1: - a boy.

To this day, Piglet gives me the creeps. Don't like him. Get the heebie-jeebies around him. Only costumed character I get weird around. There is just something about him that makes me REALLY uncomfortable - maybe that he is a boy when he was "supposed to be" a girl my entire childhood!

A girl of about 7 years old with a turkey leg, sad.

IThat is something I would change. I would change the front car to have a stroller corral and disabled seating area as each tram only takes 2 or 3 strollers so why not a stroller caboose where guests drop of the strollers and the CM just throws them on board or uses a ramp or something. I am disabled and have a wheelchair so I am tired of waiting 15 to 25 minutes for strollers to board so I can get the chair on a tram.

I don't understand why it is sad that a child is eating a turkey leg?

Also, why don't you just use the handicapped loading area with your wheelchair? That way you would load first and not have to wait. The large area in the front of some of the tram cars is a HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE area--NOT a stroller area. You should get priority. Of course, if there is room there is no reason strollers can't be put there, but handicapped folks should be loaded first.

Maybe everything we have all believed for decades about the Pooh characters is a LIE!:scared1: It's all a horrible lie!!!:lmao: :lmao: :rotfl:

We used to not know what some words in splash mountain were.
Ok I know it's NOT the words but in my head I would say "pretty good, show us your Bong...

Actually, maybe that's right. The whole ride makes a lot more sense if those are the lyrics. :thumbsup2

No, you are WRONG WRONG WRONG and I take personal offense to everything you have written!!!!! I am the ONLY ONE who is right here and boo hiss on everyone who likes the things I hate!!!!!

Now I'm going to march right out of here and go to the WDW boards where we can all hold hands and sing Kumbayah.

Ummmm.... she, I mean HE, IS a pig, though, right?

Roo is a girl? :confused3
Oh dear, Lord, seriously??? Roo is a little girl kangaroo, no?

Well he/she wears a blue shirt, right? I always thought Roo was a boy. Not to say that only boys can wear blue. :)

Well, ok, yes.. but, Piglet IS pink and has a name that ends in "et" and apparently is a boy (much to my psychological detriment when I was a pre-teen). So, Roo.... am I about to have a mid-life psychological WtP-related crisis now?

According to a Disney CM I talked to one day--who was wearing one of those "Ask Me About Characters" buttons, Piglet is NOT a baby pig--he is a baby armadillo

Wikipedia says "pig" but I choose to believe the Disney CM "expert"--and it makes sense when you realize he has those stripes--like an armadillo!

Well now, although Piglet IS pink...what other color would a pig be? I mean, I suppose it could be a hairy, greyish/black pig. :scared: But people tend to associate cute little piggys with being pink, am I right? Sort of goes along with my theory about Roo wearing blue. Blue=boy.

I could totally see the confusion on this, honestly. :confused3

Sorry to bring on a crisis, but Roo is a boy. Kanga is the only female character in the A.A. Milne books.

As for the armadillo thing, I have heard this before, but it doesn't make any sense. The animals in the books are stuffed animals Christopher Robin has and can be found in the English woods. It is hard to believe that a boy 1920's English boy would have a stuffed armadillo. Plus, armadillos live in warm places, not the woods in England. If you look at the fact that the characters are named based on what they are, being a pig is all that makes sense.

This is like finding out that there is no Santa Claus, Easter Bunny or Tooth Fairy - all rolled into one ball of mass confusion. It's all a horrible LIE!!! Piglet is not a pig? What next? Mickey is not a Mouse? Is Goofy really an aardvark?:lmao:

Excuse me while I go pour myself a drink. (Something I couldn't do when I had my Piglet discovery at age 11.

Honestly, is Roo really a boy?!

WHAT?!?!?! ;)

:lmao: TIKI ROOM song makes me want to blow my head off!! In the TIKI ROOM, .... after I shoot all the birds. I know I never say things so graphic especially here but OMG!! the TIKI ROOM, makes me seriously INSANE!!

+1 count me in on that one especially if we visit the park for the first time on our first full day in the country and the jetlag is there :rotfl:

Actually, I know this is going to sound ridiculous but I'm reading (actually listening to because I feel it's more productive then listening to music on my 2.5 hour drives on weekends) the Walt Disney history book and Mickey actually started out as the Rabbit Oswald... The only thing that he changed were the ears and made his nose a little longer apparently. So, essentially original Mickey is really just a Rabbit with a longer nose and shorter ears!

DID I BLOW YOUR MIND?!?!?!? :earboy2:

Are you trying to destroy my whole world??:lmao: :lmao: Mickey is a fraud :scared1: - my whole life of wearing Mickey MOUSE t-shirts and wearing Mickey MOUSE watches has been a LIE!!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

So I was thinking of another secret because I love this thread and think it's a crack up.

I love the "carnival type" rides at DCA. The Orange Stinger, Golden Zepher etc;
I don't let my kids ever ride rides at the State Fair of mall carnival because frankly any ride that has traveled on the back of a truck and can be assembled in few hours scares the bejeepers out of me. And don't even get me started on the people that work the carnival.

So even though they may not be thrill rides or even cool, it was great to be able to take my kids on some of those rides and feel a sense of security.
