Love the just woken up picture! Too stinkin cute!

what am I doing wrong I can't post my pictures from photobucket? I copy then try to paste them and they won't paste. UGH!!!!!!
It might be something with this site. Sometimes there is a glitch and things won't paste over. Sometimes I have noticed that I won't have a cursor when typing an the text goes before the quote only. Try logging out and then logging back in and then try to post the pics. I know that is frustrating, but sometimes it helps.

Thanks! i tried restarting my computer maybe I just need to just keep trying through out the day. Or maybe i will just have to wait and post a picture of the completed project;)

Did anyone here make the Miss Molly pattern by Samatha Caffee for the YCMT website? I am going to make Grace the view B and I am confused about how to cut the ruffle strips. It just tells you what size to cut the strips I am making size three. It says cut the length of the ruffle strip 4inches adn the width 26 inches. It doesn't say cut on fold or not. I would appreciate any answers to this question.

My husband asked me to plan a trip to Disney World last minute (seven weeks to get ready). I ordered two pillowcase dresses for Grace from :wizard: . One had Dumbo appliqued on it and the other has Goofy appliqued on it. They are really cute. The lady I ordered from has never heard of disboards so I gave her the link to come here. I hope she comes over. Anyway, I am going to attempt to make some things myself too. I am making the miss molly dress. I wanted to do it in lime green polka dots with the straps and ruffle in zebra. I couldn't find lime green polka dot fabric at Joanns or hobby lobby. So I bought some baby animal fabric for the main part of the dress and yellow pastel polka dot for the straps and ruffle. I am also going to make the carls Boutique pants and dress top in red polka dot. I know this is going to be plain because I don't have time to learn how to applique. If I am successful with the two I make and the two I order she will have four outfits made for her. We will be there for seven days and I am open to suggestions for options for three other outfits. It needs to be easy because I am running out of time.

hehe we just call all things dresses - if they are one piece they are a dress :) we are simple folk here in NZ. Dress, pants, top, jumper, jacket, jeans, shorts - that's about it - oh no you could have t-shirt, singlet, blouse... I think that's all our clothes hehe.

Tooooo hot for shorts or anything here atm she had her togs on (do you call them togs? her swimsuit :) We are living in our togs atm as it's too hot for much else :rolleyes1, Emily has her cloth nappy (ermmm cloth Diaper hehe)

NOw, I have to ask what a singlet is??

Oh yeah, just go showin off about how hot it is!!! :rotfl: Just trying to taunt us folks who are freezing our patooties off in sweaters (or is that a jumper?) and long pants! I'm even wearing my winter boots in the house. I just can't get warm today! Well, I guess we'll be able to taunt YOU come July, huh? Or, when does it get really cold there?

Hi all! Just stopping by to say hello! I have been so super busy this last week I don't even know which way is up! You would think the kids going back to school would slow things down...NO!

We celebrated Patrick's birthday Sunday. He had a Star Wars theme...this is his cake...sad huh? I was trying for light sabers...he told me which ones...Count Douku and Aniken...this was the best I could doAnd I love this kid...he gets sooo excited about EVERY gift!

This was my contribution to the Bulich Big Give...

Oh...I also wanted to share this walkerbag I made for my grandma...I got this pattern from Teresa's wonderful bookmarks.

th_PC200210.jpg

I am trying to take on a personal project this year of making these for a few nursing homes here and back in my hometown.

Now, back to lots of stuff that needs to be done...yucky old house work!
The party looks fun! I love that picture!
I've never made a crayon rollup, so you are VERY adventerous to me!
The walkerbag looks great, I love that fabric! It's so pretty! And, how sweet of you to make them for other nursing homes!
that is what I figured. What could I used the ultra for? or is the big hge roll a waste:headache:

I don't know what you could use it for. Like Steph said, something you don't sew. Maybe a craft project? Would it work for like a photoalbum or autograph book? I tried to make an iron on patch with it for lydia once, the middle stayed on, but the edges curled. You could make patches for the kids clothes with it, and they would look good for a few washings, enough to get you through a trip anyway!

Maybe check the website for some ideas of what to do with it?
For your viewing pleasure, I present Stinky in pj form:

What a face!

And Megan's second V-day outfit. I am so mad with myself, I made the straps too long because I did it while she was at school, and it is stitched and topstitched. And the pockets look a little strange to me. And the zipper in the back is wonky. Oh well, she likes it anyway.

th_IMG_1056.jpg

I love the Stinky jammies! Hmm, that sounds a little odd, doesn't it?? Megan looks adorable! Lydia often makes that face in the mornings! You know, we had the sweetest dog when we were growing up (back when I was a "dog person") named Pepe Le Pew. He was a black dog with a little white stripe down the middle of his head. He was so cute and sweet! I loved that dog. I loved all the dogs we had growing up actually, but Pepe was very special.

Ok, babbling, sorry! Hmm, I was going to say something else... OH! I remember, the face Megan is making reminds me of the face Lydia made the other morning. I had gotten her up, got he dressed and plopped her on the couch to put on her boots. It was extra dark that morning, and she got very upset at me and said, "You woke me up too late!" I thought she had confused late with early, so I said, "You mean too early?" She pointed at the clock and said, "NO! It's 8:00, THAT'S what time we go to BED!" Silly kid thought she had slept right through the day until bedtime again!
I had to explain to her that there was an 8 in the morning AND and an 8 at night! Although, I thought it was pretty good that she knew what time it was at all!

Ok, long babbling pointless post done! Unless you want to hear me complain about the digital clocks that they have in the high school instead of good oldfashioned clocks.....I tell Corey that they are all very spoiled there!

CONGRATULATIONS! It's thrilling to make a sale! Even if it IS stabilizer! :rotfl:
I guess I need to check out etsy a little further - I didn't realize you could sell supplies. I thought (for some reason) that it was only completed hand crafted items.

Yep, you can sell vintage items too.

This is from Etsy http://www.etsy.com/dosdonts.php

I'm thinking that 26" long is kind of short for a ruffle, but I might not be thinking correctly this morning. Does it say to cut more than one strip? I don't have the pattern myself. It sounds like they just want you to cut a strip of fabric that is 4" by 26". Do the directions say to fold it in half or hem it when you attach it to the bottom of the dress?

ETA: I just looked at some more of the pictures of the dress, it looks like you would hem the bottom.

I agree I think that 26" is too short for a ruffle. I think you either cut two strips that size or cut on the fold. Otherwise it wouldn't be a very good ruffle.

OK I am a complete sewing novice and since increasing hours at work I barely have time to make a hairbow. However I figure I can doll up some things like maybe applique a minnie head on a walmart t-shirt and ruffle up some jeans(I did this once and they didn't hold up well through washing).
Is there a template somewhere for the mickey head I can print off? Also what is your best method for adding ruffles to jeans?
Thanks from a mom with minimal sewing experience

:welcome:

There are Mickey Head templates in the Photobucket account under Graphics tag. The link and password are in the first post of the thread, the password is CasE SensItivE

ETA: Make sure you check out HeatherSue's applique tutorial, which is in the bookmakrs (in my siggy). It's a good step by step guide to applique.

Hi everyone!
I am starting to branch out and make more sewing projects besides nic-nak stuff. About 6 months ago, my wal-mart phased out their fabric errr... and the only other fabric store we have is Joanns. Unfortunatly they are about half the size of any other Joann's I've ever been in. It actually seems like have the store is flowers and baskets, and the 1/2 that is fabric, 1/2 of that is fleece!!! The last time I was in there, there was only 4 or 5 blots of disney fabric.
So long story short... is there anywhere online that is good to buy fabric, that's not to expensive?
TIA

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments on my pettiskirts - and on my girls - I think they are cute, though they are monkeys most of the time. The redheaded one just turned 4 on Wednesday and Em the wee one - turned 2 just before christmas - I can't believe they are growing up so fast :(

HEHE, it will be our coldest in July August time, but in Auckland where i am it doesn't get too cold, just wet mainly. Though cold enough for me - about 4 hours drive of here is ski fields so we are lucky that we can experience it if we need to without being stuck in it..... and in summer Auckland is fantastic as we are only ever 30mins away from a beach at any time ;) The benefits of a small country.

A singlet....that's what the girls are wearing in the photos - ummmmm let me think, would you call it a tank top maybe?? if it's a top with thin straps its a singlet. :teacher:

I'm still catching up - so hopefully I'll be able to join in again properly soon. I have actually done quite a bit of sewing lately so i'm finding my groove again :)

Try Hancockfabrics.com. They usually have some, but not a lot. And then there's always ebay.

So the customs your kids wear to Disney are mainly shorts or dresses right?

We are planning our first trip to Disney World. At Disneyland they live in the costumes that Auntie Fairygoodmother makes. We are thinking of going in October.

Fairygoodmother's daughter is getting married in July. Of course she is making 3 princess gowns for the wedding. So we have been given the strict I am not sewing anything until after the wedding is over talk.

So planning a trip to Disney World around when their Auntie can make outfits is perfectly normal, right????
