I am so tired! I subbed for PE today at the kids' school and played a lot of four square (which has a lot more rules than I remember). Then a PTA meeting, a soccer game, dinner and finally everyone is in bed. Except me!
1. I would love to do costumes like these for the orphans. They seem like a simple dress with an apron over the top, and some bloomers underneath.

Does anyone have an idea of simple patterns we could use? I know that Carla C is great (and other pattern on YCMT) but we may have some elderly people or others without computer access sewing for us (I hope!) and I think a regular store pattern would be easier for them. Any specific, easy patterns you know of?
2. Are there any websites where I can get large amounts of cheap fabric? Or where would you suggest I shop? I know that Joann's does 20% off for teachers...any other better ideas out there?
1) I really think Carla's peasant dress and easy fit pants would be the fastest way to go. Those commercial patterns seem to take me a lot longer.
2) I would check wal mart too. I found some really cute fabric in the sale bin that was cheap.
A story for you: my daughter was telling me the PE teachers were excited about the game (one was a UF alum) and was telling the kids to shout, "Go Gators!" She stubbornly refused and told them, "Boo Gators!" I was so proud!
Ok, this stupid scary commercial for a stupid scary movie is on and now I have to go into the basement! I don't think they should be able to show scary commercials on TV!
Jacob hides his eyes when that comes on. It doesn't seem fair that I can't watch tv with my kid without him being scared by a movie preview!
Anyway, I have a question. We are headed to WDW in March and am planning a dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge. Anyone have any ideas on a custom for that? I only think I could think of were Mickey/Minnie tees with Mouse Ears and maybe a cowboy hat? Anyone have a template like that? Thanks in advance.
I hate to show this again, but this is what I made for our lunch at Whispering Canyon Cafe. It is cotton that looks like denim and bandana. I thought they looked cute together but a cow print would look cute too!
I had to leave your presentation of the Stinky jammies in. You're too funny! I love Stinky! Those turned out so cute!! That fabric is adorable, too.
The Valentine's outfit is very cute! It looks fine with a shirt under it. I'm liking Scrappy's preppy sweater!
Well since you are so interested, I bought the sweater off a nice lady on
who knits them all year round in different sizes and then sells them in the winter. It is the perfect length for a miniature dachshund so I e-mailed her and told her I was so impressed with it. He gets lots of compliments when he wears it, except from Tom who thinks it is silly.
Here's a link to my blog of craft stuff I make. I can't wait to go back and read more of this thread but with over 200 pages it's gonna take me awhile!

Thanks for posting! Your quilts are just gorgeous and I loved checking them out with the other stuff.
Love the hippo, Belle dress and Snow White. Your grumpy snow white cracked me up!
I think i may have sold my 1st item with out even trying or planning
Nik's last yr teacher whom I adore told her yesterday that she would love to buy the hat i made nik. Well a hat just like it. I just laughed it off and didn't think too much about it. Well i saw her at the school today and she told me she was serious! she would love to buy one and how much would it be.
If it was any other teacher i probably would charge but I adore her and I really pray Kyle gets her next yr. Should I charge her if so how much?
i was thinking of just making it and giving it to her and tell her if it was for any one else I would charge but if she knows any one else that wants one they are X amount.
I am very flattered because I love to sew and even if i could earn fun sewing money that would be cool. Either way i am very flattered.
If it was a teacher I loved I would not charge and if she insisted just the price of the fabric.
Man, that child has gorgeous eyes! What a great picture!
So pretty! You did a fantastic job on it!
Megan said, "Heather could make me a dress like that if she wanted." I reminded her Heather offered to put Snow White on her dress and she refused. That trim you used is so pretty with it. I feel so honored that I got to see it in pieces and now it is finished and gorgeous!
That Sawyer! The kids had a good laugh at his glitter hair. I am so glad he is feeling better!
I think you did a great job on both of them Emily. I think we are our own worst critics. No one ever sees the mistakes that I think are so obvious.
Hi all, I was wanting to make some LONG sleeved pj's for a couple kiddos and i am DESPERATE for a pattern. Any suggestions? I thought about the bowling shirt but its short sleeved and i have NO clue how long to make the sleeves for the various sizes.
I used simplicity 3577 to make pjs for my son and the pattern was pretty easy. These are short sleeved but the pattern comes with long sleeved options as well.
Hi everyone, I am new to this thread and I am wondering where I can buy a pattern for a twirl skirt. My grand daughters love these skirts, I do not sew so I would like to get a pattern so I could have a seamstress make a few for me . Thanks for any help in my search.
I really like
this one by Carla because it is three different skirts, gathered, flouncy and pleated, along with the option to make them skorts as well if you have a girl who is not so modest.
Megan asked why she was squishing the baby princesses. I told her Tessa was probably hugging them. This one is my favorite, poor Josie thinks she is going to get fed but she is pouting, lol!
