Thanks for the encouragement guys! I need as much as I can get. Especially when it takes all day to get through a stripwork top. But it went like this...wake up, find ants in the kitchen sink :( put a hold on my sewing plans, clean up ants and caulk the hole they made in the molding by my french door. GRRR go to MIL's (that's where the serger is -for now!!) find out that the pattern I planned on making is lined AND interlined and I don't have all the fabric I need. GRRR switch plans, cause who needs a pattern for a stripwork dress??? Oh, that'd be ME cause I need a pattern for the bodice, log on, find pattern-print pattern. NO dice, the printer was out of black ink. Configure printer to print color only...It has been like that ALL day. Not to mention my DH could not have the princess, he'd better have done the things he said he was doing at the house instead of parenting B/C otherwise he is in TROUBLE!!! Venting over. I've gotta go button up the dress and make some yo yo's.

Oh and you'll be able to find my stuff at www.whoababyboutique.com (site still under construction)

...t.

Is that just your stuff on the site? I am going to go check it out later tonight. ::yes::

All you cake makers - have you been watching the Pixar movies cake challenge on Food Network? It's just about over now, but WOW are those some amazing cakes!

DH turned the timer off and I missed it. :(

Here is something I worked on today.

th_watermelon.jpg

I just have to hem it and make her a watermelon hair bow and I will be finished. I am trying to decide if I like the white ribbon for ties. I had thought about doing green ties but the girl at Hancock's said she thought it needed white to go along with the white checks. What do you think?

I think it is adorable! I saw an overall set at the bow shop here in town today wehn I drove by to see what time they open. It had a red check with ants on it and I thought hmmmm I need to make something like that !

I am almost afraid to post this in light of recent events, but i am taking my chances b/c I need feedback on the applique

th_DSC00481.jpg

What do ya'll think? I know it is a little blocky, but is it ok considering the fabric is drawn that way?

I think it is cute and looks good with teh fabric!

Yeah!!!!! It's finished & I love it & so does she!!

This was a vintage Simplicity pattern that my grandmother used for my mom. Now that I've figured it out, I think I'm giong to use one of the other views to make the girls' Christmas dresses. (Yes, I really do think that far ahead sometimes. I bought the fabric last year on clearance & it has the same vintage-y feel that this does.)

2008_06010002.jpg

I think that is great vintage looking fabric! Cute cute pattern too!

Since we were showing recital pictures, here is Megan's from last week. She was in a hip hop class and danced to a HSM song. As usual, her costume didn't fit and she spent most of the song pulling on it. If anyone needs hip hip shoes that were barely worn (she didn't wear them at practice) let me know. I think they are size 12 or 12 1/2.

th_IMG_0519.jpg

And because he is just so stinkin' cute!

th_TreeJacob.jpg

Aww she looks cute! I wish they offered hip hop in this area. :( And you are right he is to stinkin cute!

OK so I am going to try and not overload you guys lol. Plus my 4 year old only wanted to do so much modeling today and I have not had time to edit them all out. We went and picked up her clothes today! I am so excited! She acted like a whole different kid with new clothes! :goodvibes

First the Froggie outfit which honestly I am not really really fond of. I think I am going to add some appliqued froggies to the green bib would love opinions on that. Also do you ladies put something on under these outfits? She is just so dang skinny that it leaves a lot that I am afraid jumping around could be seen lol.

OK and I lied will post two tonight lol. :rotfl: This is my one of my favorites though! :goodvibes

I had planned on appliquing it but I really do not think it needs it.

The pants she made out of the scraps for my little guy. She thought they would be to small because they fit her 6 month old GD! She also thought they woudl be shorts on him lol. My little guy is pretty little. ;) I was in shock when DH said that I could put them on him! :scared1: I thought for sure he would throw a royal fit! Anyway I think I am going to applique him a little Tshirt with a sock monkey on it to go with it. This was the best I could get ... at 16 months he is rarely ever still for longer than a few seconds. :rotfl:

I love this outfit!!! DD would totally love a "Ribbit" (froggie) outfit!! Where is that fabric from?? The sock monkeys are cute too!!
I have usually put shirts under the jumpers- Although mostly because it has been too cold!! But you could throw a tee on under the jumper anyway.

Walmart 2 bucks a yard! ;) DD informed me tonight she didn't like frogs (which I did not know when I bought the fabric)! :rotfl:

Hey did anyone watch the mtv movie awards?? Johnny Depp won 2 (so we got to see him twice) :rolleyes1 His hair was looking very 21 jump street-ish. He is so cute!! :bitelip:

Ok I can sleep I have won and bought more fabric I do not need lol. I thought it was to cute you guys have probably seen it already though. I bought 6 yards for a little over 60 bucks. To blasted much for fabric but I thought it would be perfect for Spirit of Aloha! I just have to find some stuff to coordinate with it! DH said he and the boys could wear the blue color in it of polos ... gotta love having a guy that is on the coordinating band wagon!

oops!! Well how old is she 4- yeah she just might be getting into to the "that's for boys" stage :sad2: My 4 yo. son has informed me a few times about what is for boys and what is for girls. As in "dd can't play with that toy it is only for boys" :worried: At least she let you put it on her and take pictures!!

That is really pretty- You could go with brown and/or the blue for coordinating fabrics.   for cooperative husbands. My dh was pretty good for our last trip too. :cloud9: Well that and he had to wear what I packed in the suitcase :rolleyes1 :lmao:

It was me ty for answering. I got to thinking about it tonight and I bet they would not be able to do that with her hair. The home she was in before she came to us put a perm on her hair so we are patiently waiting for it to grow out. :sad2: The really sad thing is she has beautiful hair.

Oh, I'm sorry her hair was messed with. Was it damaged by the perm? If not, it might actually mean the stylists could work with it better. Zoe's is very thick with tight coils so tangles easily. I know enough to not do much beyond the basic styling and moisturizing for Zoe's hair. I haven't even attempted to blow dry or otherwise temporarily straighten her hair. Her hair has taken so long to finally get the length it has and I don't want to do anything to damage it. Most times I'm lucky just to get her to sit mostly still long enough to comb and rebraid it. I'll admit to resorting to bribery since it usually takes an hour or two to get everything styled. If candy, ice cream, etc. will get her to sit without too much complaint, it's hers. LOL

Also do you ladies put something on under these outfits? She is just so dang skinny that it leaves a lot that I am afraid jumping around could be seen lol.

sewing031-1.jpg

Although Zoe isn't skinny, I understand the concern. I wonder if it would help to move the buttons so the bodice is up a little higher. That would move the underarm up as well so less likely to show. One thing I've seen done in some outfits is to put narrow elastic in a casing along the curve under the arm. It wouldn't have to cinch in the sides much to make it fit a bit closer in that area without really changing the basic style.

most of the time on an outfit like that I will buy Jenna a matching t-shirt that she can wear under it. I think it's cute. I have that same froggy fabric and I am working on a shirt for Jenna's friend.

OK and I lied will post two tonight lol. :rotfl: This is my one of my favorites though! :goodvibes

What a great idea. I'll have to remember that for my skinny minnies.

Cute stuff. Where do you get your patterns from? and that fabric is so vintage. I love it.
The dress was a modified version of McCalls 3761 which I think they have since discontinued (no idea why, it's the perfect retro style 'tea dress' and I haven't found another as good since!) For the reconstructed T-shirts I used the bodice of Simplicity 4399 as a guide :) I didn't use a pattern for the jumper dress but if I was doing it again i'd change the top part so that the straps lie flatter at the back.
Oh by the way if anyone wants the blue fabric, it's Michael Miller 'rocket rascals' I'm pretty sure it's current and there's plenty on :wizard: but probably other online places too :)

All of your creations are really cute! What is on the bottom of the fabric of the pink jumper dress? I'd love to see a close up of it.
I used 3 types of cotton lace, the blue I found on :wizard: a while back..
2541295595_071ea55204.jpg

Sorry the pic isn't great, I don't actually have the dress anymore but I saved pictures from when I sold it.

LOVE this fabric and what you did with it, those vintage patterns can be tricky! I am such a sucker for vintage/repro stuff :lovestruc

Ahh sock monkeys, so cute! I've been eyeing up fabric like this online.. *** of course I *need* more fabric :bitelip:

Love this fabric too, you have good taste ::yes::

Oh my gosh how cute are your girls! The Dorothy outfits are just fab :cutie: I told my boyfriend that when we get married I want ruby slippers as my wedding shoes

Thanks! i think it would be cute. What kind of maker? Sharpie?

I have some brush tip scrapbooking markers that would be perfect, but I think any light pink marker would work. It's really cute without it though, so don't stress out about it. :)

Awww, she is so cute! Megan wants to take cheerleading but I am afraid of the time commitment. After seeing Morgan it really makes me want to let her do it.

Of course she has a halo, she is a princess angel!

This is perfect! I love the ribbon detail.

Megan looks adorable in her hip hop outfit!!!

Jacob was a beautiful baby!!! What a cutie pie!!! I will have to show Arminda tomorrow! Although, I'm sure she will insist that he is HANDSOME! Tell Jacob she said so! ;)

1) Thank you!

2) Ok, Arminda wins! :rotfl2:

Cute! I think it would be fine with or without a t-shirt, just whatever she prefers.

They are so cute in their matching outfits! Love the sock monkeys!

I love the sock monkey one! I agree, it looks perfect just like it is! I think a little t-shirt would look nice underneath, especailly if you think she could be more exposed than you'd like without one.

I love that fabric!
2) Ok, Arminda wins! :rotfl2:

I showed Armind the pictures this morning, and when she saw the one with the drums, she bestowed upon Jacob her HIGHEST honor!!! "AWWWW, he looks like Sawyer!"
:thumbsup2

WOW! I went away for a few days and then took a few days to catch up on housework and other stuff. Over a 100 pages I had to catch up on! Glad I missed some of it.;)

Everyone has posted some beautiful stuff! I love it all. I have some new outfits too share, just need to get my pictures together.

Also, after all the talk about sock curls, I did get my perm. It came out great...will post soon too.

I just wanted to say that I really missed you guys. I don't have many in life close friends. I have felt a little down the past 3 days and I think I just missed being on here.

Promise to post some pics later.

I'm about 10 pages behind, but I'm going to try to skim through the pages I've missed. I'm almost done with the BIG GIVE outfit. I'm freaking out that the applique isn't as nice as I'd like it to be. But, I can't do it all over again or I may go insane. I just have to gather and sew on 2 more tiers, hem the bottm, and I'll be done.

Just get a pedi! They are really pretty nice, although I have a hard time sitting still for very long. You get to sit in a nice comfy chair that has a back massager while your feet soak in a whirpool mini bath (make sure they clean it in front of you). Then they massage your feet and legs with lotion, work on your calluses (if you don't want them to do something just tell them), cut/file your nails, push back your cuticles, and finally paint your nails. Your feet really do look better once they are done with them. Overall it is pretty relaxing and you really should do it for yourself! Go ahead, you, Heather, your Mom and Barbara should all do it together once she gets back on her feet. You'll really love it!
That does sound really nice! I'm just paranoid about my cracked heels. I don't want them looking at my feet and saying "EEEWW GROSS!" in another language.

For the cake make an etch a sketch, in the place where you would normally draw is where you would write happy 2nd birthday Sawyer or whatever your message is, remember though to make it look like it was done with an etch a sketch and so keep the letters connected. For the knows use oreos, opened up so there is white just like on an etch a sketch. This is one of the simpler cakes since an etch a sketch is rectangle. It turns out really cute though.
That sounds like a cute idea!!

From this site:http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf105050.tip.html

Fabric Softner Recipe:

Like I said, I never use fabric softner, so I don't know how well this works.

Here's another one:
2 cups vinegar
2 cups baking soda
4 cups hot water

Be careful when adding the baking soda, do so very slowly as it will foam up. Cap and shake gently from side to side, opening the cap to allow air to escape (you may need to do this several times). Add about 20 drops of essential oil. I love lavender but you can use cedarwood, rose, eucalyptus, whatever you love.

Shake side to side before each use as the baking soda will settle. Pour just past the line in a downyball (I find this method works better than the machines fabric softener dispenser). Toss the ball in and that's it.
http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf203913.tip.html
You are awesome!!! Funny that you said Brian doesn't like fabric softener. Henry likes TOO MUCH fabric softener. I use the liquid kind and then he's always sneaking 2-3 sheets into the dryer. Talk about overkill!

Remember those polka dotted dresses from Walmart last year that everyone was buying to Disneyfy? They're baaa-ack! I saw pink and light blue. They are $4.88 and in the baby department.
Cool!!

That looks great! It looks a lot like the one I made for Sawyer, but his was an iron-on. I like the way the zebra print looks on a red shirt.

I am amazed at all the BIG GIVE outfits. Everyone has really outdone themselves with their generosity. I am still anxiously awaiting my appliqué from eBay before I buy any fabric.

I do have one concern though and it is fairly selfish on my part. Everyone is being so generous with their contributions that Isabella could not possibly wear each outfit during their trip. Part of me would feel awful (maybe even rejected, like she did not like my dress) if Isabella did not get to wear my dress/top since I will have spent time (and money) on making something for her. I have issues with feelings of inadequacy (as you might be able to tell). Due to these feelings I am second guessing myself about participating in the BIG GIVE. I feel so selfish right now to feel this way. Please do not judge me harshly.

Not to mention she is much more of a girly girl than I thought she was before she came to us! She is going to be quiet the princess!

That is really pretty- You could go with brown and/or the blue for coordinating fabrics.   for cooperative husbands. My dh was pretty good for our last trip too. :cloud9: Well that and he had to wear what I packed in the suitcase :rolleyes1 :lmao:

I was really suprised how compliant my husband was last trip. I think this trip he is just very happy that I am not sewing anything for him to wear. :rotfl2:

Oh, I'm sorry her hair was messed with. Was it damaged by the perm? If not, it might actually mean the stylists could work with it better. Zoe's is very thick with tight coils so tangles easily. I know enough to not do much beyond the basic styling and moisturizing for Zoe's hair. I haven't even attempted to blow dry or otherwise temporarily straighten her hair. One thing I've seen done in some outfits is to put narrow elastic in a casing along the curve under the arm. It wouldn't have to cinch in the sides much to make it fit a bit closer in that area without really changing the basic style.

Her hair is very easy. When I blow it out and flat iron it it is the texture and looks like mine (lots of indian in my hair). What I really hate about it is that I adore twisties and puff balls, and since she has had a perm twisties are not as puffy as they should be :( and no puff balls at all. :(

BTW for what it is worth my sis in law is AA and she would never consider just letting her childrens hair air dry she said it is much harder to deal with and braid when you do. I blow dry her hair on cool at the lowest setting brushing it straight and it does cut down on some of the tangelies. I did it to my little guys hair when she was going to put it in cornrows (it is still to short at the top :() and we joked he looked like Don King lol. I do know what you mean about being worried about damaging her hair though! We only flat iron on rare occasions and that is with heat protectant in her hair.

I always love Zoes hair it is so natural! I think the tight curlies are beautiful! :goodvibes

Thank you for the ideas on the shirts I think I am going to adjust some straps with pins and see if I like them and I will be using the elastic under the arm for future stuff I have her do for me! Course I may just open up the casing and do it for myself on these!

most of the time on an outfit like that I will buy Jenna a matching t-shirt that she can wear under it. I think it's cute. I have that same froggy fabric and I am working on a shirt for Jenna's friend.

As far as the sock monkeys if you want it get it now. When I bought this it was pretty much the last of it at our fabric shop and she said it was discontinued and they were not getting anymore. :(

Cute! I think it would be fine with or without a t-shirt, just whatever she prefers.

They are so cute in their matching outfits! Love the sock monkeys!

Ty for the compliments. I had thought the brown immediately too. DH is the one that picked the blue out. Go figure.

Hi everyone! Love all of the Crayon rolls. They look great. I need to try one of those. This is a dress that I had the fabric for, but just never did anything with it. last night I cut it out and this morning sewed it up.

These are the two parrot cay dresses for the cruise. One is missing a bow in the front, and the other, needs the straps sewn down. I've been hesitant to do it, I'm waiting to see if she grows before we go.
One dress is for Ireland, but she didn't want her picture taken, she's doing her spongebob stickers...LOL

Lisa, I love the flamingo dress, the ties are super cute! I also LOVE the parrot dresses, they are perfect.

ok I finished my BIG GIVE outfit. I am a little worried about it though. I think it is too small. When Jenna gets up I will try it on her and see if it fits. I hope it does, because I had some problems making this dress.

th_S2010233.jpg

I adore this and so would Roseanna! She loves Giselle! Is that a pillowcase that you used for the top?

Crystal:

Love the outfit!!!!

I have a question for those sewing capri pants for the big give... is the 19" lengh from waist or inseam?

After I made the outfit I realized that the 19" was the inseam and might be long so insecure me decided to make shorts just in case:

Linnette

Linnette, you continue to amaze me! You are just a machine getting these outfits out and with no patterns! I love the option for capris or shorts.
