Another new thread. When we get near page 250 here, I'll start a new thread again.

Please Read for Valuable Information
Welcome to the Disboutique thread part four!
We are a bunch of ladies (and men) that share a love of Disney, boutique clothes and sewing! Even if you don't sew, please join in, you might just find a new passion!
Be warned, this thread is addictive, and we don't stay on topic!

"The bookmarks"
has TONS AND TONS of FREE patterns and sewing hints and tips. Most all of the hints and links posted here will go into the bookmarks as well tons of things I've found on the internet. I update if frequently, so check back often. There is a search function, which is great if you are looking for something specific.

Group Photobucket Account
We have a Photobucket group with pictures of our creations:
http://photobucket.com/disboutique
Password: disboards
For a detailed explanation, on adding pictures and tags click here:
http://disboutique.blogspot.com/2008/05/adding-pictures-to-group-photobucket.html

Each person adds their own pictures to this account. Please only post your own pictures of your own children.
Please add tags to your picture so that they are easier to find. Right now, we are adding a description, such as Princess, Aurora, and what pattern it is ie: Portrait Peasant Top, Easy Fit Pants.... You can add up to 20 tags per picture, so go ahead and use a few if it is appropriate.

We have made up a few "rules" along the way ;)
1.Be nice, if someone isn't nice, ignore them "Where there is no wood the fire goes out."
2.You MUST share pictures of everything (and unfortunately, we do mean EVERYTHING!
3.NO APOLOGIZING for how your kids look. That includes wet hair, messy hair, dirty faces, wrinkled clothes etc....We have come to the conclusion that ALL of our children are beautiful, no matter what!
4.No apologizing for messy houses. We like a good game of eye spy around here!
5. No apologizing for being "off topic". We like to have fun here, and are often off topic.
6. If you have a question, ask us, we'll do our best to help! Really, you can post questions here, we like that!
7. If you ask a question and no one answers, don't be upset. Either, no one knows the answer, or your post got missed. Go ahead and ask again!
8. The banana gets lonely dancing by himself, so there is a three banana minimum. We don't want lonely bananas on the DIS!

(and, just so you know, I do a mean dancing banana impersonation!)
9. Lots of the posters on here sell, but we are NOT allowed to talk about it on the thread. Check out signatures for Ebay and Etsy usernames, or just PM someone if you see something you like. :thumbsup2

Abbreviations used:
YCMT- http://www.youcanmakethis.com Boutique style patterns you can buy (Look for CarlaC's patterns, they are great!)
CASE- Copy and Steal Everything
If it's posted here, feel free to copy it for your own PERSONAL use. Please don't resell other people's designs without first asking them if it's OK.
CAB- Copy and Butcher everything
Voldermort- Code word for Ebay
(We started out calling Ebay "The site that must not be named", and then it was suggested that we call it Voldermort or :wizard: for short.
Targemort- Code word for Target
Waldemort- Code word for Walmart
Frankenpattern- To take several different patterns and put them together into one outfit

HOW TO POST PICTURES

1. Upload the pic of your choice to photobucket
2. Resize the pic in photobucket click on the thumbnail of the picture, it will open up, then click (above the pic)> resize > 15" screen- it will make you verify that you would like to resize the pic (I like the 800X600 size pictures instead of the message board setting, it shows lots more detail)
3. After the pic has resized, go to your album, below the pic that you would like to post, there are 4 different codes (email & IM, direct link, html code & IMG code) Click in the box that has the has the IMG code. It will look something like this http: xxxxxxxxxxxxx
When you click on that box, it will light up in yellow, and say "Copied"
4. In the thread on the Dis (in another open window), click on "post reply". When you are ready to post the pic, right click - a box will open, click on paste. This will paste the link that you copied from your photobucket account.
5. Post reply. The pic should show up!

MULTI QUOTE TUTORIAL
At the bottom of each post, you will see a little blue box with a + sign it it. If you want to multi-quote that post, you click the + box and then move onto the next post you want to multi-quote and click the + box. After you've clicked all the posts you want to multi-quote, click on "reply" or "quote". All of the items you want to respond to should be in the reply box. Just put your reply to each post after the
for each post.

How to make thumbnail pictures in your reply:
When you click reply, the name of the picture will look something like this, but in [ _] brackets
{IMG}http://1234.photobucket.com/albums/1234/nameofthepicture.jpg{/IMG}
To make it a thumbnail, put th_ before the name of the picture, such as this:
{IMG}http://1234.photobucket.com/albums/1234/th_nameofthepicture.jpg{/IMG}
This generally only works for pictures that were uploaded to photobucket.

Castle welcome to the world of nursing. By the way, really negotiate that starting salary. It's amazing what "figures" and incentives they can come up with!!

Thanks for starting the new thread, and have a GREAT time on your trip!!!
(and how could you not? :tinker: )

Hi!

So excited to be on to thread #5!

I'm still working on the bowling shirt pattern - I've been a bit distracted by an impending move (the 3rd in as many years)! I'm trying to cuten up the house and make it look like it is a functional space for the average family. Truth is, it was built in 1900, has little closet space, and the fancy crown moulding is a major dust haven. Tomorrow I have to spread about putrid orange mulch in the name of curb appeal - loooong sigh...

Hugs,

CarlaC

I don't know if I told you all or not, but I had a job interview. I wasn't totally in love  with the place, but I knew I could tough it out, if need be :flower3:
But today I got the call that I got the job :cool1: so now I need to wait for a background check to be done and that's it. I'm also excited about the salary. In Florida, it's very typical to get paid almost nothing.:scared1: and I've never made out of the teens per hour. This will be my first job, making in the twenties per hour. I know this doesn't seem like a lot to you all who live up north...my friend in NY makes $40 an hour as a nurse..but I'll gladly take it. :rotfl:
I think I'm gonna buy a bigger piggie bank. :rolleyes1

Woohoo!

Congratulations!

Arizona salaries and wages are significantly lower than the northeast and California. I feel your pain!

Oh, joy!

I want to move, but the market stinks. I'm solo in a 2400 sq.ft. house on 1/3 acre. Waaaaayyy too much work! *LOL*

So I'm working on the cute factor and curb appeal so I will be ready to go when the market decides to climb upward again.

Yipee! I new thread! :surfweb: I love I have something to do that does not involve spending money :)

Hmmm, now how do you figure that? Seems to me that since I found this thread, I keep finding a pattern, some fabric, a notion that I just HAVE to have for an outfit for my children. I cringe to think how much this habit is going to cost me!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Here I am....I made my way over here on a warm Friday evening! Tomorrow night is the prom....hehehehe and I am going. I feel like I havent ever left high school. I am still in that routine :rotfl: except I don't get as many pimples anymore :lmao: Anyways, I am slowly making my way through my stack of fabric and projects. I can only sew a few hours a week so I dont get very far. Sigh.....this summer I will be able to sew everyday!!! :cool1: :thumbsup2
Well I am glad Heather and Teresa will be able to check in occasionally. Hopefully we won't fill 249 pages before they return. A new thread always seems to move so fast at the beginning!
Finally I just wanted to say how adorable everything was that was posted this week!!!! I wish I had the time to comment on all of them! You all are the bestest! I really look forward to this thread when I get home from work!:goodvibes OK I am off to an early bedtime! Blessing to you all!!!!

I just wanted to hop on this thread and say how much I love looking at all of the wonderful designs. You are really inspiring me to figure out what to dress my DD in when we head to Disney.

My mom is the one that sews DD's customs but you girls make me want to take some lessons from her! :goodvibes

Hey there Les Filles! DH is going to be in Scottsdale, AZ at the end of May and told me he would find time to go to a fabric store for me!

I need help! Where should he go? I need character fabric, Star Wars fabric, and Mickey Fabric!! We just can't find it here in Canada. Please let me know what stores have the best selection, so I can call ahead and have them ready for him when he's there.

I want to make the kids matching Star Wars outfits (DS=shorts, and DD wants a twirly dress), I need Mickey fabric for appliques and I'd like something Nemo, and pretty Princess fabric. Oh, and any place that has the best ribbon, for matching hairbows??

Can you tell I'm excited!

Merci Les Filles
Stephanie

When I got the YCMT newsletter and it said they had 6 new patterns I got so excited. I thought it was going to include your pattern. Oh well! atleast you know that you will sell one when it comes out.

Just wanted to say HELLO and also good-bye to all of us leaving for Disney. I hope to see some of you next week.

better subscribe!!!

CastleCreations--CONGRATS on the job!!! That's pretty exciting!!!:goodvibes

I gotta tell y'all Florida girls that it FREAKS me out no end that the pay for jobs doesn't seem to be very high for y'all...The hubby and I talk a lot about packing up and heading South...but we can't afford to lose $$$...

I don't even know what I'm talking about anyhow...my husband just renewed the TEN YEAR lease on his office building with the option to buy the whole dang place.

:headache:

AND to top it all off...my puppy is sick with KENNEL COUGH...the very thing he JUST got vaccinated for. Poor baby is feverish and coughing and retching. Oh I gave the doggie daycamp place a good talking to! I am just fit to be tied. They have a whole song and dance about protecting our pets and required Bordetella vaccines and blah blah blah...and my poor darling gets sick...I blame the poodle that was following him around with doe eyes!

not a happy dog mom.

poor baby.

wow...grouchy much?

:lmao:

YAY new thread!!!

:dance3:

lol, I guess that is because I have 5 20 gallon totes FILLED with fabric plus lots of sheets, shower curtains and anything else I can find to cut apart! lol, My poor kids get all excited when they see new sheets only to have their Mean Mommy (As I am called by my 5 year old for cutting a princess sheet) cut them into dresses :rotfl2:

OKay I need a favor! I went to the store Ross and picked up a toddler Nemo sheet and pillowcase set. HAs anyone else seen them anywhere? I would love to get 4 mroe of them so i can make one for each of my girls and then for a friends children! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Let me know if you have seen them! TY
