Okay seriously though...

I have an actual sewing question...

So when one is attempting to sew ruffles on capris or shorts...do you have to open the seam of the capris or shorts to do this? I hope no one is laughing at how non mechanical I am...but I am dope and a half when it comes to this. Seriously y'all do NOT want to know how badly I did on the math portion of my SAT's...like brain dead bad...like my guidance counselor asked if I got up and LEFT mid test bad...

on the plus side I scored an 800 on the Verbal side...go figure...my education was slightly uneven.

must have been the uniforms...

wait...what was I talking about?

OH YES...capris and shorts with ruffles!!!

Sally has a pair of Bermuda-ish jean shorts she wants cut a bit shorter and some jeans that fit her fine but are too short.

I want to add some ruffles to her little life.

but if it is going to require a seam ripper and/or math of any kind...

poor Sally doesn't get any ruffles.

:goodvibes

thanks!!!!
I have done ruffles and hems while the pants/shorts are completely together.

I just cut them off and sew on the ruffle. I haven't posted a pic of the shorts yet but DD didn't really like them - too ruffley (how would you spell that?). I may have to do them over. She was happy with the capris done that way. Good luck!

Hello ladies!

Whoever posted the crayon holder THANKS!:rolleyes1

As I was picking up Leighanna from school the other day the teacher said that she only had four crayons left, and wanted to know if she could bring a few more in to finish the school year.
Well... the creative mind that I have, remembered the crayon roll, so I "whipped" one up!
Leighanna took it to school the next day, and EVERYONE wants one now!
YIKES!:scared1:

So far I have made three more for her *BESTEST* friends, but I know I will be making more for some others!

I guess these will be little end-of-the-year gifts that she can give her friends.

Sorry I haven't posted much, but I do try to keep up. I love all the new customs that have been posted.

The only things that I have been up to are things for my wife and Mom for Mother's day.
A couple of new bags and matching wallets.
I have also completed the first three mystery quilt blocks from YCMT. I have a feeling that quilting might become my next obsession! Anxiously waiting on the next block!

What does that quilt look like it is going to be? I haven't started it yet. Maybe when I come back I can start on it.

I can't tell yet. But they are giving clues. I will say possibly and Ice cream treat, or another sweet confection of some kind!

I wonder how many different blocks are in this quilt? I guess that is why they call it a "mystery".

My kids were sad too that we couldn't see you the next day. All of had so much fun with you guys!

I am so jealous you got to see Marie! How wonderful for Lydia!

I'm glad you had fun, we did too! Lydia just loved Megan. She keeps talking about her new friend. :lovestruc

Love that you got to meet Marie and I LOVE that second pic with her posing like Maire! I hope we get to meet all these characters when we go. There are so many we have never met!
I'm so excited for Lydia!!!!! I hope so badly that we get to see her when Emma wears hers.
That is amazing that maria was out!!!! oh my goodness, I was estatic when I saw these pictures. I can jsut imagine how you were meeting her.
Lori

When we got to Epcot, we stopped at guest services and asked if Marie would be there. The CM checked for us and said that she would not. He said he'd only seen her once himself. While we were in the countries, we were in the last setting for Belle and the Beast for the day, we were actually the last family they let in the line. I happened to ask the CM that was holding up the end of the line if he ever saw Marie. To which he replied that she was there RIGHT THEN, on the other side of the pavillion!!! We all quickly decided to ditch Belle and the Beast and hightailed it over to Marie!!!! She was kind of hidden near the perfume garden, we didn't see her at first and we were looking! They told us that she wasn't scheduled to be there that day, but she just showed up for two sets and we happened to get in on the final minutes of her last one!!!!

I also wanted to mention to anyone looking for characters in Epcot, to check the times schedule so you know when the characters leave each country. For the popular characters, you should try to be there a half hour before they are scheduled to leave, because they will close the line so that the characters are actually leaving when they are suppose to. And, if you are in line and the character leaves and they are NOT scheduled to be done for the day, just wait, they are usually gone less than 5 minutes and then they come right back.

You are FAMOUS amongst your fans here on the Dis!!! :worship: :lovestruc
For the first time in my 39 years of life, I'm SOMEBODY!!   :rotfl:
That picture of your Lydia with Marie IN her Marie dress is just priceless. I love the dress and Lydia looks SO happy to be with Marie IN her Marie dress, holding her Marie stuffy...too too cute!

Her mama made sure she had a magical time. You made this such a special trip for your family!:goodvibes
It was just so special!!! You KNOW I was crying behind my shades!!! :cool2:
have fun have fun in your remaining days!!!:cool1:

OH and I LOVE the casual Snow White look!!! I wore Snow White's "Day Wear" for the Pirate and Princess Party last summer! Everyone LOVED it!!!

We only have one more day at the parks. :sad2: Tomorrow we are going to Kennedy Space Center, which Lydia is beside herself excited about! She plans on being an astronaut when she grows up. (Hey MissCammie, could you start saying prayers NOW about her being safe with that one!! ;) )

I had so many people come up to me in my Snow White and tell me they liked it. It was NOT the most flattering look for me (with the yellow pants) but it was lots of fun. I sewed red ribbons on the sleeves of my blue t-shirt. I had a few people ask me where I bought it!

Haven't had much time to post lately but I had to vent to someone who would understand. My mother in law called dh at work yesterday. Guess where she called from????? SOARIN!!!!!! They decided to take a spur of the moment trip and thought Disney would be fun. What on earth were they thinking not taking us with them?!?!?!??!?! I'm so totally green with envy I can hardly stand it.

At least they were thinking about you AFTER they got there! They didn't completely forget you! :rotfl:

How wonderful for you! A magical moment!
Yes, it really was!

I have never taken the seam out to sew on ribbons or extra things to the bottoms of the pants. Go for it MissCammie!!!

I'm thinking this might be a really cute idea for Lydia to bring to Kindergarten when she starts in the fall. .......big breath Teresa, big breath, don't cry, don't cry............

Teresa, so glad you came here to post! Did I miss the Snow White outfit you are talking about? I'd love a picture!

My oldest son used to want to be an astronaut. He had it all planned out in 3rd grade. Go to Naval Academy, learn to fly, become and astronaut. Now he wants to go to the Naval Academy and be a sharp shooter, and an engineer. Oh and play lacrosse while there:)

:confused3 Question for those of you doing the mystery quilt from ycmt....Do you think the 3rd color is more of a fuschia or a samon color...I know I probably can use either, but just wanted another opinion I am going out to get my other colors and wondered what you thought?

I just quoted myself. Just wanted to show you the wall mural on Ben's old bedroom.

And one more thing:

LESLIE could you please turn the heat on so it's warm in Michigan when we get back??

Thanks! We appreciate it!!!

:rotfl2:

I think the thermostat must be broke!!! I've turned it way up and it's still cold...and now it's raining!! Bring some of that Florida sunshine back with you!!

I have a few dollars left in my account and want to buy a ycmt pattern. Which one? These are the ones I am debating:

Carlac stripwork jummper
"" easy fit pants
" ruffled capris and pants
erin's designs ruffled halter tops
star bright desings adorbale cris cross top

which one???? I love them all!

Want pictures of them?! The only one I don't have from your list is the star bright one. They are all fairly easy. Easiest is the easy fit pants by far!! The ruffled capris were the most annoying! But I love how they turned out!!

CarlaC stripwork jumper...I love it, but you might want to go with her Simply sweet tops and dresses. It gives you halter and jumper bodice variations.

Here's the easy fit pants (for a boy)

I add ruffles to pants that are too short all the time. I don't even cut bottom off the jeans.

I am almost done remodeling my daughters room. I tried so hard to get her to do horses. She won though. It's an Ariel bedroom. One wall is purple, the rest a very pale yelow named "Good Morning Sunshine" I am very proud of the valence I made. It is from Ariel Walmart fabric. I then sewed some dangle trim. It is so cool because the trim is various shades of turquoise (sp?) but next to the purple sheer curtains, takes on some purple tones. It sparkles in the sun. Here is her bed with the "anti-monster" curtain. Did you know that this keeps out the monsters, so three year old little girls sleep "all by myself" now???

Quick question for those who've done the storybook skirts, the Mickey Mouse one, where did you find the book fabric? Wally World or Joanne's? I'm looking for a quick fix for our trip in two and a half weeks.

Thanks!

Quilting IS addictive I have to tell you!! My mom and her best friend invested in a Long Arm quilting machine...they have been MAD busy with quilt orders. They love it...but at the end of the day they hand sew on another quilt they are making for a charity show. Best of both worlds!!

I think you would make a FANTASTIC quilter. You've got the eye!!!:goodvibes

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay so if one is sewing ruffles on pants I imagine one must RUFFLE something first right?

:lmao:

I seriously don't know who I'm kidding. Every time I think about sewing I start to sweat in a most unladylike manner!

I've a fear of failure...and getting stuck with needles.

I'm much better at being the boss of everyone!!!

seriously.

:teacher:

TERESA JOY!!! Have SO much fun at Kennedy Space Center!!! It's a WONDERFUL place to visit!!! Make sure Lydia tries some "Astronaut" ice cream!! It's crunchy!!

I grew up going to Johnson Space Center in Houston all the time!!! Y'all will have a BLAST!!! PUN SO INTENDED!!!!:lmao:

:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Your Welcome:rotfl2: I had people try to "order" them at Nate's birthday aprty after I handed them out. Now my sis wants me to make them for gifts, my MIL wants some for her class (teaches 2nd grade) for the end of the year, and Another mom wants them for favors. :lmao: I can get 12 done in 90 min. though... so I guess I'll just do 'em.

Im sorry I didn't get to meet you as well - I just happened to look up and see your sister and literally jumped infront of her stroller! She looked like she was taking the heat a lot better than we were!

Enjoy the space center! We haven't been there in YEARS!

You're good!

I just got back from having lunch with Leighanna today. I have 13 "orders" for more. Not that I am getting paid anything but hugs and kisses.:lovestruc (That to me is worth more than money!)

I will try to get an assembly line going tonight, and see how many I can get done!

Everyone wanted their name at the top.
