Other Podcast Makes me appreciate the DIS even more

I just haven't found the need to listen to others. I know the DIS Unplugged will have all the news & reviews that I will need. Plus they have Bawb and Kaht Kam. What more could a girl want?
Well, besides winning a Podcast cruise:dance3:

I listen to about 15 podcast weekly during work and 5 of them are WDW related. I think they all have there good points but the DIS is more honest, critical, and thorough with details. wdwtoday and netcot can also be critical. wdwradio plays more like a brochure because it's full of trivial information and details but not critical at all. I don't think i've heard a harsh review in the year i've been listining to it. inside the magic plays ride audio and has skit type segments which can be entertaining. that one is also not critical. so in conclusion (I blah blah blah too much so i'll stop before i ramble) The DIS combines all the ingredients and makes the best all around show, and they even do an email show. so bravo, kudos, high-5, kongaloosh, etc.

Ok, I. am. freaked. out.

Out of curiosity, I went an tried a couple Podcasts mentioned up thread. Mind you, I have nothing against other podcasts, it's just out of the ones I've tried I really, really, REALLY prefer the DIS so far.

Anyway, I tried a couple that were mentioned and there is one that has a guy that sounds alot like Bawb! And the main talker guy sounded a bit like Corey without as much southern accent. It was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too weird for me. I felt like I was in some weird alternate podcast universe.

And besides, there is and always will be......ONLY ONE BAWB!

I'm a total DIS Unplugged Purest and have no desire to listen to any other Disney podcasts. :goodvibes

Different strokes for different folks I suppose. :)

My only point was that I personally can find some value in the other shows I listen to as well (not to mention the great communities of people like this one).

Having said that, DU is a VERY well put together show, top notch production, well organized "agenda", great personalities (even the off mic folks/animals!), not to mention the awesome prizes! Part of the greatness can be attributed to the wealth of ex-Disney employee experience which helps to take the "spin" off of various news/events. As others have mentioned, proximity to "the news" also helps their cause. Oh, and it seems like there are a ton more smilies on these boards!!! LOL :rotfl:

I listen to a number of other podcast (non-Disney related), and I'll tell you that the production values on the Dis Unplugged are by far the best of any that I listen to. It's a pleasant listen. When you add in that all of the crew are "easy on the ears," I have a hard time even beginning to listen to anything else. Oh and the content is awesome, too. :lmao: I'm mean where else are you going to hear about a woman wearing a tuna wetsuit. :thumbsup2

The screen name has been fixed. Suh-Weet!! :thumbsup2

Well, WebmastPete told me it was going to happen, and *bam*, there it is :)

Too funny since it wasn't there this morning, either that or I didn't even realize it. :lmao:

Now, for the logo....will need to work on that one.. Any graphic artists out there?:rolleyes1

I really appreciate all the kind remarks about the show. And I appreciate that everyone here is being respectful to other shows in their comments. I can tell you that doing a GOOD podcast requires a lot of prep work and consideration. Every one of the podcasters mentioned here, along with many others put a great deal of passion and commitment into their shows. I'm not just being polite here, I'm very serious - I know and respect how much goes into this. The fact is, you guys love the show - but there are plenty of people who don't necessarily care for our style, so thankfully there are many unique and creative podcasts out there to fit any taste.

I'll never care too much whether we're the biggest or the most popular - I know that I'm having a blast doing this and so are the rest of us - so we'll just keep doing what we do for those who want to listen and join in :)

And long enough to host another podcast cruise, right? Maybe one that's not in May? That way your teacher friends can join you??? :rotfl:

Thanks for all you do Pete! The Dis (and especially the Pod Squad) is a great community to belong to!

I have listened to quite a few "other" Disney podcasts, but only because I have become so addicted with Dis Unplugged. I can't wait a whole 6 days for another Dis Unplugged fix so that left me frantically searching for my next Disney podcast fix, even in dank, dark backstreet alleys, and seedy bars! :sad2: While some of the "others" may also be informative they just do not hold a candle to my beloved Dis Unplugged! It's the frank talk of Disney, the sarcasm, the wit, the Bawb :), the good and the bad. I really appreciate it all!

In addition to being clinically insane, I have done TV and Radio... and doing prep for a show of this sort, is extensive. Not only do you have to be witty and funny, but you have to make some things sound spontaneous in spite of the fact that you have flubbed it 5 times. The amount of pics that Corey and Bawb spit out every week, gathering news items, pre programing talking points, some of the email call in show stuff needs research... this is not a small under taking. Now the dining review on the other hand, pretty much anyone could do that.

Did anyone catch the dissing of the DIS on the latest WDWtoday podcast? Matt and Van from Netcot were talking about websites they don't care for and they said they didn't like the fact that DIS filters certain websites and is so heavily moderated. Hmmm....I guess they are ticked that UG's planning site is filtered. All I know is that Pete has explained very eloquently why certain sites are banned, and I appreciate that. Nothing new though, their podcast is full of misinformation. I really appreciate how DISUnplugged checks/corrects their facts. I now have two podcasts to unsubscribe from thanks to their comments.

Finally! Stroller Boy!

I debated long and hard on whether to chime in here or not. But, here goes...

first, let me go on record as having been a looong time member of the Disney Internet community - since the early days of RADP. I participate in over a dozen message boards and I download many Disney related podcasts every week (my sales job has me on the road a lot). I've met several webmasters, podcasters and authors. I've attend a number of the special events they sponsor and have a tremendous amount of respect for them all - what they do takes a lot of time and effort.

I enjoy all the podcasts - each has it's own niche. I haven't yet listened to Friday's episode of WDW Today but have heard Bryan Ripper at All About The Mouse say great things about the Dis Unplugged. I know because it surprised me to hear DU mentioned. Only because DU tends to operate separately from everyone else. Many of the other sites and podcasts support each other and participate in events together like MouseFest or Celebration 25.

Don't get me wrong - I'm a huge fan of Pete and the Crew. But, I certainly think there is room for others. It would upset me greatly to see folks here dumping on Lou, Nathan, Deb, Jim, Tim, Mark, Rickie, John, Adam, Jonathan, Bryan, Matt, Mike, Mike, Len, Mike, Jana, Paul, etc.

Come on, we're better than that. This isn't high school. We can sing the DU's praises without putting down anyone else.

JMHO

Okay, I should have just asked YOU to write this for me! Very eloquently put. :) Funny you mentioned All About The Mouse cause I thought I heard Bryan mention "check out the DIS Unplugged" or something like that, and found it out of the ordinary as well. Was glad to hear it though!

Although, I think the DU team almost likes the fact that they are called the black sheep ;) You Rebels you! :rotfl:

..and hey, if you just listen to this podcast, more power to ya, it's a great choice if you limit yourself to just one!!

I honestly didn't think anyone was bashing other podcasts. :confused3

There are just some DU listeners here who choose not to listen to other podcasts, but it didn't seem like they were bashing them.
