I was a structural engineer, involved in the design of highway bridges. I am currently in the process of launching a custom wedding stationery business. It became my passion during the planning of my own wedding.

DH is Director of Product Development for an orthopedics company. He had started his own company, and sold it to the company for which he currently works. The current focus of his team is a next-generation shoulder replacement system. (Don't worry if you don't have a clue what that means, most of the time I don't either. )

hiwaygal: Since DH and I are/were both engineers (my major was civil, and DH's was mechanical), we can join your "Nerds Unite" club.

I am a preschool teacher's assistant for the disabled and a part time student majoring in Elementary Education/Special Education. Next year, after the wedding I will be quittting my job and going to school full time. DF works for the Pulic Works Department in the city we live.

I am an underwriter for Chubb Specialty Insurance (Executive Risk division) and DF is VP of engineering for a manufacturing company.

irishcinderella and hiwaygal: DF got his degree in mechanical engineering, so I'm marrying into the "Nerds Unite" club!!

I specialize in teaching phonics, math, music, and Spanish to 2-12 year olds plus I also work in the school's administration.

DF is a nearly-finished law student, works on Capital Hill part time, and works as a small bussiness solutions manager for a cellular phone company.

We have both been working on our Master's degrees too. Mine for education and his for political science.

IrishCinderella: Good luck with your biz. I too have been considering working in the wedding bussiness well before I began planning my own wedding and hope to have things started after I get some medical thingies taken care of. Someday I will send my brides to you for their wedding stationary!
