Random WDW Info - I Never Knew!

This is definitely true.....DH works for Hewlett Packard and when we go, we get to go to the VIP lounge for Mission Space. It's a nice little lounge with drinks, etc. And it has a big window overlooking all the suckers ;) waiting in line. Then we get to go behind the scenes to the front of the line. :thumbsup2
same thing for us at test track. We always try to take a family with us who looks at the long line and turns to walk away. Makes it really nice when it is someone who has never been on TT. :)

For those that think Tinker Bell is tinker Bill, you're completely wrong. They had an article in an issue of Disney Magazine about two years ago about the LADY who plays tinkerbell. lol. I don't think Disney would encourage cross dressing.

Oh.. but they do.... many of the "friends" of the female characters are most often Male :) (think Suzie and Perla.. the mice from Cinderella, amongst others).. Yeah... their "friends" are most of the time .. you got it.. men

Would you believe that the "most popular" attraction (meaning more people ride this more than any other) is Spaceship Earth?? I couldn't believe this when I read it. I would think Space Mountain, ISWA, or Splash Mnt. Also, there are WDW buses that have a million miles on them. :scratchin

The white posts on Main Street are repainted every night right after the park closes to keep them looking brand new all the time.

I don't know if this was posted or not, but in the Jungle cruise, the imagineers added someone saying "I love disco" in the ride. It's before you go into that temple dark rooms. If you listen carefully, in addition to all the tribal speak, there is a guy saying "I love disco". Disco was big in the 70's and it was their way of "signing" the ride.

There is no working plumbing in Liberty Square in MK. All of the bathrooms are actually located according to the original plans in other "lands".

There are 13 lamps on the main tree in Liberty Square near the bell. One to symbolize each of the original 13 colonies.

The water in Splash Mountain is required by law to be "drinkable". You can take a handful of water and it is perfectly safe to drink it. (note: doesn't mean you should) lol

The magic Kingdom is set up like a movie theater. Main St. Station acts as the curtain. You cannot see the castle standing where you put your tickets in. Under the station are the coming attraction posters. Once you cross the station you are greated to the smell of popcorn. Then along main st. you have the credits, starting with the producer credit (Roy O. Disney) and ending with Walt Disney.

While on a backstage tour, the guide told us that up to 50,000 people could be sheltered in the supply tunnels and underground work areas beneath the Majic Kingdom in case of an emergency like a severe storm with tornadoes.
The other three parks don't have these tunnels, because they are serviced from ground level back entrances.

I'm really enjoying all of the facts everyone is presenting. Thank you for sharing.

Okay. I know a CM personally and I just aked him and he said that there are no men that dress up as girl charecters. Have you personally seen a man getting into a girl charecter's costume? :crazy2: :scared:

I don't know if this counts, but the Tinkerbell that flies from the castle is sometimes male. They are referred to as "Tinkerbills".

ETA: Woops, just read your other post. I do think there is a Tinkerbill. Tinkerbill has been caught on camera a few times, and I read an article about it around a month ago.

What difference does it make? Whether it is a man in the costume of a female character or a woman in the costume of a male character (yes, far more likely) the point is the character and the magic. Why the need for the 'ick' smileys?

I mean, you know, if they were costumes which they, of course, are not. :)

Actually not true. I don't know how to put this without ruining the magic, but I know for a fact that most female characters "friends" are for the most part... female. Probably the only exception that I can think of may be the Queen of Hearts.

Quote from Unofficial Guide of WDW - "There are three other 'hidden' characters in Walt Disney World, though much rarer: Minnies, Goofys and Donalds. And there are even hidden Hidden Mickeys in several Disney movies, dating back to Mary Poppins..." :thumbsup2

I never knew that!
:thumbsup2 I saw one in Fantasia 2000!!! It was a complete accident. My DS was watching it during the whale scene and paused it. When I looked at the TV there was a PERFECT hidden mickey in the bubbles. I was so excited!!! :woohoo:

The Shoe Tree
When we went on our Wishes Cruise last summer our driver (who was terrific) brought us over to see The Shoe Tree. We were amazed to see a tree in the middle of Bay Lake with a whole load of shoes hanging off its branches! He explained that there it's a tradition for WDW boat drivers to throw their shoes onto the tree on the day they retire. :goodvibes

Really? Up here 9well at least in the part of MA that I grew up) If there are shoes hanging outside the house, that means you can buy your drugs there. Different numbers of shoes and different styles suggest different kinds of drugs.

That big silver ball at Epcot (the one that has the Spaceship Earth ride inside), actually has a smooth exterior. The triangles it is made of are fashioned in such a way as to make the ball look as if it really isn't smooth. Very few visitors realize that they are seeing a perfectly smooth ball.

Enjoy.

I know that one of the Green Army Men was a female.

This is not entirely true as Epcot does have a short tunnel. Its no where as big as the MK utilidors and does not go under all of the park. None of the current tours will allow you to go in them, although on a recent backstage tour, we were shown the entrance to it. Sorry but I cant remember where it was located.
