I have quite a few defining WDW moments but this one is key.
Late 70s, DW and I move from the midwest to Miami. We're both Disney fans and we've each been to DLR twice (once as children and once as newlyweds). DW prods me to go to WDW because it's just a few hours up the highway, but I refuse believing that the Orlando park will just be a poor, cheap imitation of DLR.
Well about 30 seconds into the park (there was only MK at the time) I realize what a numbskull I'd been about the Florida park. We visited WDW many times during our few short years living in Miami and subsequently raised our twin DDs with regular trips even when we relocated to Kansas
