Unfortunately I am not having my wedding in Disney World....but I am having my honeymoon there after the wedding. As much as I love to hear the wedding stories... I would love to hear some about Disney honeymoons....I am looking forward to ours and am curious to see where people have ate, stayed, and any perks they have gotten for special treatment....Congratulations to all you newlyweds and soon to be newlyweds!!!!!

I am in the same place as you. I am getting married where I live and then having the honeymoon at Disney. I would love to hear about others' trips as well!

I plan to write a "trip report" for both my wedding & honeymoon at WDW. My honeymoon ends on May 6th so it won't be for a few weeks. I just love reading the trip reports on this board, so I can't wait to be able to write my own!

:Pinkbounc

I too am doing a wedding at home - Boston - and our disneymoon at the world. We've got everything planned on our own but I'm still trying to figure out ways to make this trip special. We're staying at the Boardwalk and will be there during Food & Wine. I'd also be interested in hearing from the other disneymooners. :-)

:wave2:

We got married in Disney last November - and then had a week in the AKL for our Disneymoon.

We didn't really do anything "special" for that week as we'd been in Orlando for two weeks before the wedding with family and were exhausted!

My best tip is wear the bride and groom ears and get a pin from guest services. We had so many people - guests and CMs wish us congratulations and ask us about our wedding. We didn't get any freebies but I know of other people who have... I think you get a lot of pixie dust in restuarants but we tended to eat offsite.

My trip report is in my sig if you would like a read...

Good luck with the planning everyone :goodvibes:

Okay, I'm bumping this....there has to be someone excited to share their WDW honeymoon stories! :goodvibes

Hi everyone!

We got married in WDW in December and had our honeymoon there. We stay a total of 2 weeks at the Grand Floridian and it was AMAZING. It was my dream to stay there and I am so glad we did. First off, we did get some extras but they are not guaranteed.

When we arrived we were greated outside the resort by someone who greeted us by name...that was so exciting. She had all our check in info with her already and sat us down to go over everthing. She said our room was not ready but would be ready in a few hours. So, we took a brief walk around the resort and checked things out. One word, GORGEOUS! We were there during the holiday season and the hotel is just decorated beautifully. Every restaurant, store, even the bathrooms had different decorations and music! Truly magical. It was so incredible to stay at a monorail resort and come back to the hotel at night to see the tree & gingerbread house.

So, we then went over to Coronado Springs to meet most everyone else for the wedding (we had a small custom wedding...15 people). The men were doing their tux fitting. Now, I had all guys in the bridal party and started calling it the 'dudes party'. So....anyways, now, almost every guy forgot to bring a white t-shirt and black socks. At first I was upset because, come on.....I had to bring:
- my dress, tiara, cape, shaw, gloves, jewelry, 2 shoes, purse, muff, viel, pantyhose, slip, bra, etc. Not to mention other wedding day things. And these guys can't remember a white t-shirt and black socks. Goodness! Anyways, I then got over it cuz luckily some of our guests live right outside of Orlando and were able to get some from the store.

So, after the fitting my fiance and I went back to the hotel to see if our room was ready. It was and when we got to the room we were greated to a beautiful site. We were upgraded. We had a lagoon view room facing dead ahead to space mountain. I could see fireworks, main street station, the Polynesian & Cinderella Castle. I hear the parade and welcome event word for word. We got to see the electric water paegant from the room also....Really awesome! Our building was also right at the 2nd pool so all I did was take the elevator downstairs and out the door was the pool.

So, we did that then hurried to the boat to go meet everyone at MGM Studios for dinner at the Hollywood & Vine then off to Fantasmic and the osborne lights, then some of us went to the ESPN for the Eagles Monday Night Football Game! I didn't really were my minnie wedding ears until the rehearsal because I put them at the hotel when we arrived and people kept congratulating us on our marriage and we weren't there yet and it felt weird.

Well, we were at the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue for the Rehearsal Dinner and we had our ears on for part of it. His mickey top hat was just too small for his head so he wore it for me for all of 5 mins at the Hoop Dee Doo. Oh well! But our table did get special attention. Six Bits from the show came over and was messing with my uncle joes head (he is bald)...he was doing crystal ball impressions and buffing it up. Then he heard my aunt deb (married to joe) turn to him and say three words (she is a loud person) and he ripped on her for the rest of the night. I do have a picture of six bits leaving and passing by our table telling her to shhh! It was absolutely hysterical. He would signal to her on stage and everything. The best line he told my uncle was "I don't care how good the picture is, if the sounds is broke, I'm taking it back!" We all just died laughing!

Next is the wedding day....I will report on that later....best day of my life!!

Now for the first few days of the honeymoon, the guests were there. They all left at different times. But we ended up then having the full 2nd week to ourselves.

We realized this a little late in the honeymoon that we had forgotten to get the disney wedding/honeymoon pins from guest services (at any theme park). GET THEM RIGHT AWAY!! They are easy to wear especially if the mickey & minnie ears bother you and people will constantly congratulate you and you may get free perks. We got extra pixie dust sometimes. I ended up getting a free beer in EPCOT one time and we also got mickey confetti put on our table at the liberty tree tavern. We also got a free dessert at 1900 Park Fare at our last meal.

Some other things worth mentioning....on the wedding day, it rained during illuminations so for the food portion we got moved into an indoor location so I was kind of bummed about that. However when we got to EPCOT...winnie the pooh, tigger and piglet came out of this door and my dad screamed out winnie the pooh...so our EPCOT guides went over and asked if they would take pictures with the bride...so I have a handful of pictures with 3 characters. The other thing I did was after our MK photo shoot the following Saturday, we went back to the Grand Floridian and I asked if we could have our picture taken with Mary Poppins who sits outside of 1900 Park Fare. They allowed us to. She is my favorite Disney Character so I was thrilled.

Having 2 weeks down there was truly nice. Even though it was broken up quite a bit with wedding stuff we were able to do alot of the holiday things we never got to do before. So, we walked around EPCOT and did all the holiday storytellers...while having 1/2 yards from the UK!! I never got one of those before because there wasn't time to drink it because we were heading to a ride or show. But since we were walking around EPCOT for much of the day we were able to.

Make sure your hotel knows you are a honeymooning couple...you never know what they will do for you!! Please pm me anytime. I'd be glad to help you with honeymoon plans if you wish. I had such a fantabulous time on my honeymoon & wedding that I live to help others with it. If I remember other little things that we got I will post. We really relaxed more on the honeymoon and it was nice to do. We were both exhausted. Someday, i want to visit for 2 weeks with no wedding! Although, I have already been thinking about the vow renewal!!

Have A Magical Day!!

I'm having my honeymoon at Disney too!!! These boards have SAVED me so much money (b/c I found about the Free Dining Plan seconds after it was announced and able to add it to our package with MONEY BACK!!!) So we get to experience really wonderful food we probably never would have known about as all we really knew about theme park eating was the burger and fries route! The restaurant boards are invaluable in regards to places to eat, places to avoid, best places and times to eat so that you can see Illuminations from your seat! I'm planning myself silly and there are so many resources here! It's fantastic!!

I think I am more excited about the honeymoon than I am about the wedding which really seems sad seeing as how most of the cash is going to the wedding itself! :rotfl:

I'm already planning a trip for next summer so we can take my DF's munchkins with us! AM I NUTS?! ;) actually...yes! :hippie:

I am in the same boat as you :rotfl: My DF thinks I am more excited about the honeymoon than I am about marrying him....That is so not true :rolleyes1

If you're planning your honeymoon you may be interested in listening to the Inside the Magic podcast. As a huge Disney dork, I frequently listen to this podcast. It has lots of ideas for things to do while there. In fact, the April 16 show had a piece on Disney honeymoons and the special things Disney can arrange for couples. You can find the the podcast at Podzinger[dot]com and searching for "Inside the Magic" in quotes. Hope this helps!

Congratulations!

We were married in a little chapel off-site and then spent our honeymoon at WDW. We stayed for just a little less than a week and stayed at ASMu in the broadway section. While we both wished we could have stayed at a more upscale resort, the ASMu was perfectly fine! At check-in, the gal tried to give us a complimentary upgrade to a preferred building and king bed, but I really wanted to stay back in the broadway section. She gave us a good room with a great view...near the pool! While having the king bed would have been nice, it was nice having the 2nd bed to throw all of our misc stuff on it!

This was such a budget trip for us, but we still had a blast and would do it again in a heartbeat! We ate at Alfredo's on our wedding night...we loved it! We did a lot of counter service meals...but tried to squeeze in a few table service here and there. I remember doing Hollywood and Vine (MGM Studios), Chef Mickey's, and Alfredo's (Epcot). We also tried Wolfgang Puck's Express at Downtown Disney...

We wore our bride/groom ears and got attention here and there. Lots of guests and CM's were quick to offer congrats! Characters made a big to-do out of us too...Pooh tried to run away with me! He stole DH's ears and put them on himself...lol. We got little freebies every once in awhile, but we never expected it or asked for it. I preferred to be surprised!

The best memory that we both still talk about from that week was when we went to see Fantasmic. We were making our way to the theater when a CM, doing a survey I think, stopped us. She asked about our ears...we made them ourselves using baseball caps...and our t-shirts (DH made us matching t-shirts to wear each day...cheesy I know, but when else can you get away with that? lol). Then another CM, this one in a shirt and tie...not the typical uniform...stopped to chat as well. It was nearing the time for Fantasmic so we said that we would have to go. The CM personally escorted us to the theater and made certain that we had our own "private" viewing area for tha show! It was really just a roped off section of about 2 rows...the CM attending that area made a big fuss over us and would not let anyone sit in those rows! It was a wonderful little sprinkling of pixie dust for us!

DH and I went back last year for our anniversary, for the first time since our honeymoon in 2002. We took advantage of the free dining plan. It was just as wonderful! We ate at Teppanyaki's, CRT, Boma's...everything was fabulous!! CRT had a little extra sprinkling of pixie dust for us...our table was decorated!

I would say to wear the ears...and not expect anything. If a CM wants to do a little something special for you, then it's a great surprise! Also, make sure that when you make your dining reservations that they note it's your honeymoon...you never know!

Best Wishes!!

the free dining plan is the middle of August until September 30, 2006. During this time frame if you purchase a magic your way package through disney they will provide you the dining plan extra for free. They do this because during this time frame is a slow time for disney. They want to increase the crowds (and money for that matter), so what better to bring people in then say something is for free. Unfortunately, we are missing it by 4 days :guilty:

My honeymoon is not til June 2007 and I am just soooo excited. We are staying at the GF for 8 nights. I can't do much more planning as the 2007 prices are not out. yet. Anyways, we are going to do the dining plan (not the free one unfortunately) and there are just so many restaurants to choose from!

I loved my Disney Honeymoon! We did get some "perks", but not too many. If you want people to know it is your honeymoon, I would suggest the pins. The ears will accomplish the same thing, but I felt a little silly with the ears. The pins were a better option for us. You can get them at Guest Relations. We got free champange at Coral Reef, we got to jump into the fastpast lane at Rockin Rollercoaster. We got a free dessert at the American Pavillion, and we got cute kissing swan towel animals. It was really fun and I wish I could go back today!

Hi Everyone! We're getting married in November of this year and are having our HM in Disney. We're staying at Wilderness Lodge Resort for a week. We abolutely cannot WAIT!!! I think we're looking forward to the HM more than the wedding itself! I look forward to hearing more about other couples HM experiences and posting our own story when the time comes. :goodvibes

We Disneymooned at BWV last summer. Since I've been to WDW a number of times we did some things I've never done before like going to the waterparks and PI and tried some restaurants I've never been to before.

I had it noted on both our room ressies and our ADR's that it was our honeymoon. When we came back to our room the first night there were two signed photos (from Mickey & Minnie and Aladdin & Jasmine) and balloons waiting for us. We also got complimentary desserts at Yachtsman Steakhouse and Chef Mickey's. The Cast Members were great both places and took pictures of us both places. We also got a rose at YS and at Chef Mickey's we got "special day" placemats that Mickey proceeded to write a message on the back of when he came to our table.

We didn't wear our ears while we were there (although we did at the wedding reception), but we did get the pins at Guest Services. We got some comments and congrats from other people but no perks from CM's, but I had it on my backpack and not on my shirt.

Anyone else out there wanting to talk about their honeymoon experience?

Our Disneymoon starts on 9/10/06. We're staying at VeroBeach for 2 nights and then moving to BWV for 8 nights. I'm sad that we're not able to take advantage of the free dining, but we are still using the dining plan.
My DF's first trip to WDW was last November (he proposed there.) I had matching shirts made for us (just one set) and I had a hard time convincing him to wear it... by the end of the trip, he agreed to wear the bride and groom ears and matching shirts for the disneymoon!!! It's nice to share our happiness with everyone around!!!

We're so excited (although I have to admit that I'm probably more excited!!!)

Our Disneymoon stars 10/9. We're getting married here in Boston and then flying out at 7 am (my "wonderful" DF says to me when we booked "we'll have over half a day there if we leave this early!!!!! - I don't think I'll be sleeping the night of our wedding!) We'll spend Mon-Fri at BWV and then Fri we're off to Universal til Sunday. We were supposed to go on our last trip but someone who will remain nameless :-)guilty:) ended up at Celebration Hospital on the thursday night of our Sun-Sun stay so we took it easy and sold the universal tickets we bought to a co-worker when we got back. We have tickets to MNSSHP on Tuesday night where we plan on being a bride and groom :-)

I also think we have it noted on our reservations and ADRs.
