You May Now Kiss the Groom - Our May '18 Honeymoon PTR!

First off - Congratulations!! Your story sounds amazing and I hope you are enjoying every minute of being engaged. It's such a magical time. Also, I definitely laughed at your ring box problem. When my now husband proposed, I saw that box outline in his pocket, I knew immediately what he had planned (I didn't tell him until afterwards :) ). So congrats on hiding that !!!

BOG- I've done bfast and dinner. Dinner was by far much better. Great service and I really enjoyed the food. I've been dying to try skipper canteen as my MK restaurant though. Hoping to try it next trip.

Trader sams - I went like 2 years ago. Made sure to get there at opening Bc I was afraid of the wait. We got a pager, was told it would be a while and we were still paged at like 4.10. I think there's such a rush at 4, that it forces a wait. I also went in Nov, so your time of year might dictate that wait as well.

And I'm jealous of Akl. You will love it !! Looking forward to hearing more plans (Disney and non Disney)!!!

:welcome: Thanks! We are enjoying being engaged. Everyday it's like a dream come true. As far as the ring box, it really was much bigger than I anticipated for sure. I thought he had to have seen it, but sure enough he didn't. Keeping my hand in my pocket actually worked!

BOG - I keep trying to get this everyday. I check both in the morning and at night for dinner first then lunch. So far it hasn't panned out but eventually I think that some pixie dust will come along and I'll get the ressie snagged! Positive thinking certainly can't hurt. :) Also, I've been to Skipper Canteen once before (last year actually) and it was really good. Our server was terrific. Think Jungle Cruise corny, but better. And the food was really good too with some interesting, well-plated choices.

DFi thought I was crazy when I told him we just need to be there 45 - 60 minutes early for Trader Sam's, but I think once the day comes he'll finally understand how popular it is.

Again, welcome! And glad you're here to follow along!

happy to be here!!

As far as the escort cards, I love both. (I'm a sucker for Art Deco) I'd probably go with the card versions though. Less stress figuring out names and less bulk on the table. I'd suggest maybe getting something else printed in that cutout / painted look. Table #s? Mr+mr decor for tables or the bar? If you'll have a new last name ? Possibly things that you would hold onto as keepsakes?

So, DFi and I just had a conversation about upgrading resorts. I found out I'm getting a bonus to be paid out in February. We decided to trade in the fireworks cruise we were going to do for an upgraded resort since we'll have the extra bit of income. As a result, we're now staying at a different resort!

So excited! I've only ever stayed there once, but I loved it. That was the time we happened to be neighbors with Snooki... that gal from Jersey Shore back in the day. That in itself was an interesting story. Snooki's dad wore a white ribbed A-frame tank top (what most people consider an under-shirt) that had the words "Snooki's Papa" written in black sharpie on it. So classy! :rolleyes1

Anyway, this will be Corey's favorite resort we will have stayed at - he just doesn't know it yet because he's never experienced AKL before. That's right we're staying at AKL!!!! To be cost-effective, we booked a standard room. (It was over $1500.00 more than the Standard Room to get a Savannah Room - so we opted for the Standard, which will be just fine!) This trip is going to be so great! Can't wait for those words "Welcome Home!"

You are going to LOVE AKL!!!! Seriously, just stayed there two weeks ago for the first time and I can't wait to get back there!! We booked a standard room and we got upgraded so maybe you will get some extra honeymoon pixie dust and get upgraded too!!!!pixiedust:

I love this place too! Some pixie dust would be terrific. Fingers are crossed! :yay: Just countin' down the days now! :hourglass

I still really like the first card.

I have always wanted to stay at AKL it just hasn't worked out yet. One of these years. I am so excited that you were able to upgrade resorts. This is shaping up to be a great trip.

The first card: noted. :) I agree this is going to be a terrific trip. And everyone's input has been so appreciated. I can't believe how much we've already learned and this will be my 11th trip since 2009! Proof that no one knows it all! :thanks:

This is a great idea, but unfortunately the cards are pre-designed through www.minted.com. I can change the text but not the font! No fun, right?
Boo! That's no fun at all! have you thought about going through a different source to merge the two ideas?

Also, completely random, I saw on a different thread that you were having difficulties with direct flights out of Cinci. Have you tried going through Louisville? It's only a 90 minute drive down there and SDF may have a better direct flight option for you.

I should check with the paper company we used for our invitations to see what they'd charge for doing something like that. We had custom invitations made, so that company should have the ability to give an estimate. As far as the flights, we ended up booking with Frontier - which is one of my least favorite airlines - but the flight was just over 180.00 per person round trip. The price point couldn't be beat :)

Disney and Weddings! Two of my favorite things!

You guys will absolutely LOVE AKL! We surprised one of my sons a few years ago with a quick weekend stay there and fell in love. We also booked a Standard room but ended up with a partial Arusha view! Maybe y'all will luck out as well!

:welcome: I keep saying it, but I'm so excited! I've been whistling "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah" all day today. It seems a lot of folks on here have gotten upgrades to partial or full Savannah views. Here's hoping some pixie dust magic makes its way to our Disneymoon! pixiedust:

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

We have SOOOOO much in common!! First, your name caught me....I though, oh a Reds fan! Me too! Then the Cinci connection! Then....the wedding planning and Disney loving!! Love Newport as well!

I am a FLORIST in Covington! I know the Madison Event Center very well and have done so many weddings there! I love all your plans and details, LOVE the place cards at the table! And your cake is gorgeous! And.... We will be leaving Orlando 1 day before you arrive! So many coincidences!! I also have a GoldenDoodle, named Leo!

Your story brought tears to my eyes, I'm a sucker for a romance!!
Following along, I can't wait to hear more planning! For the wedding AND Disney!

Congratulations! Dh and I also got engaged on a Riverboat, ours was just the two of us on one of those cheesy dinner and dancing river cruises. It was fun 12 yrs ago. Lol. We will celebrate our 12 yr anniversary at Disney on June 10th, with our 6 yr old and 1 yr old in tow. We always travel the first week in June and besides the weekends the weekdays are fairly low crowds. We love AKL you will love it. Make sure you try Boma for breakfast and a zebra dome dessert sold in the quick service location at Jambo House. Can’t wait to read more about your planning. We also love to get the filet at le Celier in Epcot. Your pictures and travel plans look great. Something else you might consider is having the special chocolate crown or glass slipper delivered to your CRT dinner. You can find info for this on the first page of the cake chatter thread.

Congrats on your upcoming nuptials and Disneymoon! So exciting! I will chime in and say that I love the name escort cards but I totally get how that could turn into a hot mess with trying to get everyone's name, not to mentioned spelling them correctly. But, from a guest point of view, what an awesome take home would that be?!?!

WELCOME! You are absolutely right - I am a REDs fan. All the coincidences so cool! I can't believe we'll each other by just 1 day. What a shame! In the summers I take Brinkley, our goldendoodle, to the dog park @ Washington Park downtown. There are a few other goldendoodles there... aren't they just the best!? Thanks for following along. It's great to have a neighbor here.

For our wedding, we went with a friend who's a florist. I'll have to post the floral palette soon so you can check it out!

First, WELCOME! Glad to have you following along. Thanks for all the positive comments - they're much appreciated as this is my first PTR but I'm having a blast with it. I've gotten so many amazing ideas from followers already! Happy Anniversary I must say! We'll both be at Disney on June 10th - how cool is that!? I ate at Le Celier in 2010 when I took my family on a trip, but haven't been back since. I loved it immensely, though at the time I didn't get the Filet. I'll have to keep that as an option.

I just told DFi this morning on the telephone (he was off work today) that we should do Boma for breakfast one day. I ate their for dinner once in the far away past, but never for breakfast. For CRT, I will totally look into the crown or glass slipper. I'm headed over to the Cake Chatter thread shortly. I have to say what I love most about doing this PTR is learning all these things I had no idea about. When you're open to taking suggestions, it's cool how crowd sourcing can really help navigate all the decisions. I'll just have to report back afterward with a TR with lots of pictures and thanks to everyone who will have made it such a success. Again, welcome and thanks for the input!

WELCOME! Thanks so much for your well wishes! I'm going to post another pic of the escort cards soon because I got two samples in the mail AND pics of the invitations. Come to find out, the invitations were ready today and on my DFi's day off, he went and picked them up. Now we just have to assemble. I love how they turned out. I hope you'll like those too!

Guess What?!?! Today at work I got some great news! And then, when I got home from work today, I had two surprises waiting for
me!

First, the two samples I ordered of the name cutout placecards arrived. Here are our names in the cutouts:

Seeing them in person, rather than just in the Etsy photo made a HUGE difference in my book. They are really pretty! And the paint shimmers!

And the second surprise? Our invitations were ready for pick up today! On my DFi's day off, he went to pick them up and didn't tell me. I came home and he had them to show me. I really love them...Here are the pics of our invitations:

Anyway, I really love the invitations and feel the same about the name cutouts for place-cards. It would be a lot of work, but I think it'd be completely different than what people expect. Not to mention, I love the art deco font! We need to think about it a few days before we decide. (Corey really likes the uniqueness of the cutouts and the fact that they are literally about the same price as the foil escort card).

Lastly, right before I left work today, I found out exactly how much my bonus will be in February. I figured it was enough to cover the upgrade from POR to AKL and shockingly ----- it's more than 4 times that much! Talk about an amazing day!!!!!

Now, how shall I spend the bonus? BWAHAHAHAHAHA......... To Be Continued.
