Let me just give you some the high points.

1. It was a great cruise. We (me 44, wife 39, daughter 12,
daughter 9) never cruised before but I don't know how this
could ever be topped

2. They started taking our luggage at 10:30. We got there at
10:20 and were the first car in when they opened. We were
then one of the first ones into the terminal and were about
the 5th or 6th family in line for boarding.

3. Boarding started at about 12:45 after being entertained by
by a few charcters and some of the cruise CMs

4. We tried going directly to our room to get rid of our carry-ons
but the room was not ready until about 1:30.

5. We made reservations for Palos at 1:30 and the Surial Bath
at 2:00 and got the times I wanted for both.

6. The party on the main deck while we were leaving was nothing
but fun for all. Dancing, singing, screaming, and lots and lots
of fun. There was also a Coast Guard escort until we were
out into the ocean

7. About 50% of the men did not wear jackets to the dinners
and about 20% of them wore shorts. That kind of ticked
me off.

8. My daughters hated Nassau. They both have long blonde
hair and were hounded from the moment they stepped off
the ship for braids, taxis, and carriage rides.

9. They both got their hair braided at Castaway Cay. One got
a whole head ($78) that took 1-1/2 hours. The other got
corn rows across the front ($38) that took 1/2 hour. They
both love them but my 9 year old started to cry near the end
of hers because of the pain.

10. We went snorkeling at Castaway Cay and loved it. We were
the 1st ones in the water. There were fish everywhere and
water was crystal clear. It was $20 apiece for the rentals

11. Mugs were $20 apiece. I don't think that we got our money's
worth. It was close though.

12. We had a Cat 10 room. It was kind of small but we were
only in it for changing and sleeping. It was fine and I tell
you what, those shoe racks over the door did wonders. We
used one side for shoes and the other side for our bathroom
stuff.

13. We played bingo on the last night. The "cover-all" jackpot
went for $1,900. Wow!!

14. We only saw one movie (Monsters Inc) Great movie!!

15. All of the shows were good and the show "Disney
Dreams" was really good.

16. I spent a whole lot more on pictures than I ever thought
that I would. I didn't know that they would be taking that
many pictures of you throughout the day. Even though I
took about 10 rolls of pictures, their pictures we too good
to throw away.

17. My daughters didn't like the main pool. They said that it was
too crowded and the line for the slide was too long.

18. I thought that the Surial Bath was a blast. My wife liked it
but was not into it as much as I was. We had mud every
where except where it was supposed to be. I wanted to
take a picture of my art work but for some reason, she
wouldn't let me.

19. Using the steps rather than the elevator always seemed to
be a lot quicker so after the 1st day, we only used the steps
and I think that that helped with working off a lot of the food.
I thought that I ate like a pig but only gained 3 pounds
during the cruise.

20. We took a "learn to draw Mickey" class. What a lot of fun
that was. I never knew how easy it was to draw. I can
now brag to everyone at work.

21. I thought that the food was good no matter where we ate.
I think that the people that complain on these boards must
be used to eating at 5 star resturaunts every night or
something. Plus I was getting 2 appetizers, or 2 main
dinners, or 2 desserts at every meal. I was in heaven.

22. The life boat drill was the pits but I know that they need to
do it. You are crammed against one of the outside walls in
80 degree heat with a life jacket around your neck that is
choking you. What a relief it was when they said that it was
over.

23. My daughters didn't really like the kids club. Well let me take
that back. What they said was that they would rather be
with us which was fine with me and my wife. The only time
we used it was for the Surial Bath and Palos.

24. Palos was the ultimate. I brought a tux on board and wore it
to Tritons and Palos. I felt really out of place in Tritons but
not at Palos. It is a beautiful place with great food. I am
sure that me and my wife will be talking about it for a long
time.

25. The dissembarkment was semi painless. We were told that
we would be leaving at about 7:45 so we got in line at 7:15.
There was some kind of a customs problem so they didn't let
us off until just before 9:00. That sure was a long wait for us
and the kids.

26. To sum it up. What a great cruise. We didn't sign back up
yet but will probably be doing the 7 day cruise in 2003. 4
days in no where near enough time to see and do all that
there is to offer. If you want to know anything at all, you
know where to find me.

Thanks for posting. I loved the lay out of your report. Was this your first cruise? We are taking our first cruise in Feb with dd 9 and dn 11. It was a tough decision for us between the 4 day and 7 but we really wanted to spend some time in Orlando also so opted for the 4, just to try it out. I've been on the fence about the braids. So, it was very painful for your 9 year old? Also, did your girls attend the first night party at the clubs? What didn't they like about the clubs? Thanks for answering any question you can for me?

Hi Jenn
Yes this was our 1st cruise ever. What a great time. We did the 4 day cruise for the exact same reason as you. We did DisneyWorld 1st and then went to the ship on Sunday for the 4 day cruise.

4 days is not enough time to do and see everything that they have to offer but for the 1st cruise, I have no regrets. You get to see how everything works and will be completely prepared for the next time.

My 9 year old daughter got her whole head braided at Castaway Cay. They did the back part of her head first. When they got to the corn rows along the front of her head, she had a real tough time with the pain. The woman doing the braids didn't seem to show too much mercy on her. I guess that she assumes that it is going to hurt and just kept right on tugging and twisting. Once it was all over though, my daughter loved it.

My duaghters did go to the 1st night party. We checked them in just to see how they would like it while we went to the Hercules show. They both liked the club and party but I'm happy to say, they would rather be with us. Everything that the ship offers up until 10:00 is for both adults and children so we spent the rest of the curise together with the exception of the times we went to the Surial Bath and Palos.

I hope I answered your questions. If you need to know anything else, just ask. Hope you have a great trip. Eric

the 4-day cruise could definitely be topped!! By a 7-day one!! :D :D But I see you're already thinking about taking one, and I highly recommend it! Hubby and I did the 7-day (our first cruise also) last January to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We had a category 6 room with verandah and I highly recommend that too. You said you were only in your room for changing clothes and sleeping, but if you had a verandah room you might find yourselves spending more time there. I'm the type of person that needs some "alone time" every day, so that verandah was heavenly. And having the door open at night to be lulled to sleep by the ocean sounds and warm, tropical breezes was wonderful! We are booked for another Magic (Western itinerary this time) cruise in 1/03 and we're already counting down the days!! :D
