Which one would you choose and why?

Hi Everyone, I am looking for opinions on which monorail resort restaurant you would choose on your MK Day. I am thinking of spending a whole day/night at MK in December, but want to take a break for dinner at one of these restaurants, Grand Floridian Cafe (been to several years ago for dinner and liked it), Kona Cafe (never been to dinner there, just breakfast), or Steakhouse 71 (never been to at all and am leaning toward trying it). It is just my husband and me for dinner. I am interested to see what you would choose out of these or would you pick a restaurant in MK for dinner or another at a monorail resort? I am open to all suggestions, as I will need to make my reservations in 3 weeks. Thanks so much!!:)

Wave or GFC lunch.
Kona dinner.
Rather eat TS relaxed in AC than CS.
We mostly do Cinnabon, Dunkin, Starbucks breakfast and TS for lunch and dinner wherever we go.
We go from rope drop til fireworks most of the time

I would do Steakhouse just for convenience sake - it is so much easier to walk back and forth to CR than taking a monorail or boat to a resort. GF Cafe is good, but I find the menu to be very limited. I've had a few bad meals at Kona so wouldn't recommend it. If you would like to take a boat ride, you could also consider Whispering Canyon at WL or just heading to WL and eating at Geyser Point which is very nice.

If you're steak lovers, definitely choose steakhouse 71! Lots of options, including the sauce to go with your steak. Can't wait to do it again. :-)

IF you choose SH71 for a meal, you must do the steak and egg (not plural) appetizer. It's been great each time we've dined there.

GFC was absolutely terrible earlier this year and we used to love it. Really bad service, raw 🐄 hamburger, just yuck.

We really like SH71, but very loud and Vegas-y IMO. It used to be the Wave, but redone. Food is delicious.

Kona is really good, but as you know, not really the best vibe with the crowds milling for 'Ohana and the openness.

SH71 for sure.

I always recommend SH71 to anyone who hasn't been yet, it's one of those restaurants that my family begs me to book for every single trip now. We've been very happy with both the quality of the food and the quality of the service in the past two(ish) years it's been open. I think it has the best quality of beef cuts at outside of any Signature dining locations at the Parks right now, and the sides are to die for-- simple macaroni, potato, vegetable things that they execute very well.

"Vegas-y" is the perfect word to describe the atmosphere at SH71, you really nailed it. It's a Vegas resort casino steakhouse steps away from Magic Kingdom.

We enjoyed Kona last trip and are trying Steakhouse this time. We’ve never been to GFK yet but I’m sure you’d be happy with any of the three.

Never been to Vegas. So this should be interesting. 😉. Now, I just have to hope I can get a reservation.

Steakhouse 71 would be my suggestion. Especially if you have steak lovers in your group. We head there for lunch or dinner instead of eating at the MK; it’s pretty convenient.

I just can't bring myself to eat steak much away from home anymore . As much as I love steakhouses, it's just too easy any more to get a far better steak off the net or at a big box store.
We've eaten steak at Dis all over and they do a much better job than most major steakhouses for sure. But for the same price, I can get Japanese A5 Wagyu, Piedmontese or any of the boutique and vintage breeds.
Dis really excels in Ethnic and eclectic cuisine for us, so we mostly do that.

I think Disney food is fine, but I don’t know that they necessarily excel in ethnic food either. For people who eat a lot of Chinese food at home but don’t eat a lot of steak, they probably think the steak is great and the Chinese food is mediocre, for the same reasoning you give. I can get X Chinese dish at my city for $8 per person and it’s much better than the Disney Version, etc.

Disney mainly excels at having a wide variety of foods close together, and they make it in a way that is accessible for people who don’t typically eat it. But any specific food will be outclassed by a good local offering.

Well that's disappointing! We've had many nice meals there, but raw burger ain't gonna cut it. We liked it because it's not an "event", it's just lunch or dinner without bells/whistles/characters/gimmicks.(We love that stuff, but it's ok to take a break on a trip.

May not matter if you’ve never been to Vegas, but I think most of those Vegas steakhouses are very meh because they’re just churning out the food. Don’t love the association, or maybe it’s just my negative perspective. I think SH71 has very good food (not extraordinary but very good). Enjoy eating there.

I know California Grill is expensive but that’s another option I don’t see mentioned if you want nice table service.

I would choose Grand Floridian Cafe. I always enjoy eating there during the day-so bright and cheerful. Ate at Kona Cafe once and didn't like it. Never eaten at Steakhouse 71-no windows, it looks like a cave, I have no desire to eat there.

Thanks for your response. We ate at California Grill once and had a nice time. It was quite expensive, but service, food, and view were good. I just thought as a break from the MK we would go someplace less fancy this time.
