Can you suggest a good place for a long weekend? Sometime this summer we plan a short trip. It has been a while since we were there and I'm not sure where to stay. We will be four adults.

Thanks,

Penny

Beau Rivage Casino. Even if you are not gambling it is a really beautiful hotel with a great pool. Just be sure to specify non-smoking if you don't smoke because the smoke will kill you as soon as you exit the elevator on the smoking floors.

I don't know what it is about Biloxi, but I love that place! We usually spend an afternoon and night there when we travel from Arizona to Florida. We like the Marriott Courtyard which is right across the street from the beach. The hotel is clean and in a quiet area on the opposite end of the beach from the casinos.

We always go down to the casinos in the evening to eat and do a little gambling, too.;) They've built a Margaritaville Casino since the last time we were in Biloxi, and it sounds nice...right on the water.

We'll be going through Biloxi next February on our way to Florida and I can't wait to see what else is new. The saddest trip was when we stopped overnight in Biloxi a few years after Katrina. So sad to see all the destruction, the house foundations, steps leading to nowhere, etc.:sad2: It just seemed so desolate.

It's nice to see things being built again, and I love the tree carvings along Beach Blvd. Have fun on your trip this summer!

The Beau Rivage is beautiful but EXPENSIVE. The other casinos can be a little cheaper. And the Marriot is really nice and less $$$ than the Beau.

luvflorida, lots of houses have been built in the past few years. Some are beautiful. I will still always miss the ones that Katrina took away (as I am sure will the owners of those beautiful old houses) Also, not sure if Shaggy's on the beach in Biloxi was there when you visited last. Its a fun place and very popular. The huge surf shop with the shark at the door has been rebuilt--on stilts and there is another popular restaurant right next door. White Caps has been rebuilt and going strong--I think its closer to the place where the Friendship House used to be.

I live an hour or so north of Biloxi but I absolutely love our gulf coast. Dd and I would be down there every weekend if we could.

Its been a long time since I was in Mississippi, but when we visited Biloxi, we stayed in Gautier (pronounced go-shay). Its a sweet town close to Biloxi and we loved it. This was pre Katrina, but there was a yummy little restaurant called The Country Gentleman that had great food :)
