What will Disney let you pay for next?

Resort fee is coming no doubt, to "align" with other hotel chains. Then right after they will have lightening lane for onsite only, unless they can charge offsite hotels to be a "good neighbor".

I do agree that more benefits for onsite guests are on the table. They are likely leaving some bullets in the gun for if/when hotel occupancy drops. For now, they are seeing how far they can push up room rates with the limited perks.

I miss the day when prices increased but we felt the experience did as well. Now it feels like they milk their guests to their limits, while cutting where they think they can get away with it, and then makes steps to improve experience once they risk dissatisfaction getting too high.

Once Genie+ and Lightning Lane has become a wild success, Disney will be motivated to have more microtransactions:

Access to the bathrooms
Charge to take the trams from the parking lots (staff will start parking cars from the back to the front)
A concierge service to book hard to obtain ADRs
Hotel rooms will only include the room, want bedsheets? Pillows? towels? Rental fee for those.
Pay to watch the TV in the hotel room
Pay to use the resort pools
Pay per ride like the old days, but now with dynamic pricing! Long standby line at 7DMT? Price goes up along with the price for a Lightning Lane pass!
Charge for onsite transportation
Digital badges for riding rides or paying for one of these microtransactions, show off how many times you have paid for Genie+! 100 times for Silver, 500 times for Gold, 1000 for the exclusive Platinum digital badge!
Pay for fireworks / shows, just like the after hours parties if you dont have a wristband you will be escorted out
Pay for the day shows like Indiana Jones, Frozen Ever After, Finding Nemo, etc - the best seats cost more
Standby seat, rent a portable chair so you can sit in the standby line
Pay for the best seat / area for the Cavalcade or Parades
Pay for drinking water
Pay to park at the parks even if you are staying onsite and paying to park there
Happy Birthday buttons, etc now cost $5 each
Park hopper early access, pay extra to park hop before 2pm
Upgraded Genie+ where you get to pick where you sit on the ride, no more requesting front row or back row for your favorite rollercoaster. You need to pay for that right

Lol, I could do this all night. Maybe I should email my ideas to Bob and Josh! ;)

LOL - just give them time - they think they're being subtle adding a little at a time :rolleyes1:crazy2::headache:

Micro transactions are counterproductive. Look at spirit airlines and frontier. People flying with them learn to live with less. They just want a good deal and will pack everything into a carry on. This will be the same for Disney.

... Disney makes decisions on what is good for Disney corporate's bottom line, not for guests. Never think they have your best interests in mind.

From my experience in the corporate world, there are teams of people whose only job is to find ways to maximize profits. I guarantee you they have already come up with things people have mentioned, and then some. As a friend of mine is fond of saying, "Never underestimate the greed of the Mouse."...
Great post and I can also assure you this is definitely true!!!

Honestly, ‘concierge’ service which would essentially just be someone to get you ADRs. All inclusive hotel chains have similar services for certain room types instead of fighting for reservations and Disney could definitely hide behind how much this will improve the experience. I am ashamed to admit there are a few ADRs I would pay a small fee to have. What’s another $20 on top of my stupid expensive Disney vacation.

I speculate three new fees.

(1) Mousekeeping fees. There will be a hotel room sanitation fees of $20 / day. When announcing this daily charge to hotel guests, Disney will say due to the unprecedented COVID-19 global pandemic WDW will provide guests enhanced, deep sanitation and cleaning to each room to protect their safety and health.

(2) Transportation fees. There will be a $10 / person / day fee for each guest that uses WDW transportation. When announcing this daily charge to WDW guests, Disney will say due to the consensus involving unprecedented climate change WDW is encouraging guests to walk more and limit their carbon footprint.

(3) ADR fees. There will be a $10 / reservation fee for TS dining. When announcing this reservation charge to WDW guests, Disney will say due to the unprecedented COVID-19 global pandemic our partners cannot guarantee food supplies and food costs as well as unprecedented climate change due animal husbandry WDW is now guaranteeing guests will have a reservation, a table, and a meal to eat when they sit down to break bread with family and friends. Alcohol is still available at an additional cost. :)

there are some great - and hilarious - suggestions throughout this thread. well done.

i think the bus and the app are really easy ones. especially the bus system. the idea that a guest can wake up and just step onto a bus without pulling their wallet out must be killing them.

The bus one would’ve been super easy to implement if they’d just kept MagicBands…maybe they bring those back but it’s included for a fee and you just can’t decline it, like the resort fee. Uggghhhhhh.

  • Charging for lockers, no free lockers to store your items while riding an attraction
  • Resort Fees
  • Cleaning fees for DVC stays
  • Add-on Tickets for firework shows
  • Booking tables through Consierge Service
  • Pay for taking photos with characters

Disney will never charge you not to show up.
If you don’t like the direction a company has taken there product. You always have the option to not purchase it.

The most effective thing you can do to tell Disney how you feel is go else where to spend you vacation dollar.

My guess is someone else will gladly take you spot, but enough people go elsewhere Disney will have to change.
