What really small thing influenced your life in a big way when you look back on it, good or bad

In 6th grade a teacher saw me in the library looking at books that were very easy for me to read. He suggested I read a more advanced biography of Marie Antoinette. It sparked a love of reading that continues to this day. I ended up being the first in my family to attend university and went on to achieve an advanced degree.
Teachers are heroes!
