I absolutely love this thread! So many great books out there, I'm taking notes, lol.

Growing up:
Little House on the Prairie series
The Chronicles of Narnia
Anne of Green Gables

Books read to my sons:
Harry Potter series
A Series of Unfortunate Events
The Mysterious Benedict Society

As an adult:
The Good Earth
Like Water for Chocolate
Chocolat
Cutting for Stone
All the Light We Cannot See

Romeo & Juliet by William Shakespeare
Prep by Curtis Sittenfield
The Nanny Diaries by Nicola Kraus and Emma MacLaughlin
Number The Stars by Lois Lowry
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland/Through The Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll
The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank

When I was younger I loved American Girl, The Babysitters Club and Goosebumps and I've decided this year I'm going to reread these books and see if I still love them.

A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
The Shining by Stephen King
All the King's Men by Robert Penn Warren
The Bonfire of the Vanities by Tom Wolfe

Choosing only five is difficult, but these stand out. Especially the Toole.

I know there is a reading challenge thread, this is different. I absolutely love to read, have read many, many over 62 years. But I'm always in search of my next favorite. I use a Kindle, but love the library too. So when I say favorite, I mean, can't put down read all night kind of book, the kind that stays with you long after you read it. Here are mine, starting when I was young up till now.

1. Cashelmara-Susan Howatch
2. Anne Frank's Diary
3. And Then There Were None-Agatha Christie
4. Nightingale-Kristen Hannah
5. Shoemakers Wife-Adriana Trigiani

Those are my most favorite, but I have many, many more. How about you?
I am an avid reader, always have been.

I usually read all the books by an author I like, and I have many hard cover books in my collections.
1) Harry Potter books
2) Suzanne Brockman series of Troubleshooters
3) Preston/Child books with the strange FBI man, Pendergast
4) John Edward books
5) Karin Slaughter books, the Will Trent series
honorable mention, LOL, is Robert Crais books, he is a funny writer and keeps me laughing with his quirky detective series.

I guess I like suspense series with quirky characters. All those fit the bill.

My favourites growing up were The Silver Sword, Maniac Magee, The Babysitters Club books, Point Horror books, and Sweet Valley High.

All-time/adult favourites are:

Persuasion
Pride and Prejudice
The Owens family books by Alice Hoffman (Practical Magic, The Rules of Magic, Magic Lessons, and The Book of Magic)
Any book by Fannie Flagg
Stephen King books (especially Salem's Lot, Needful Things, and IT)
