We did Disneyland and DCA on 12/14 :)

Living in San Diego and having just renewed and upgraded our APs (we now have Deluxe), we just did Disneyland this past Tuesday. We left after I got out of class, around 10:45, and with my crazy driving, we got up there just before noon.. and got into the park around 12:30.

When we got there, we found out that Disneyland closed at 6 PM for the Christmas party, and we weren't about to shell out more $ for that, so that was disappointed. We then walked around the entire park to try to find a restaurant to eat it. Having been there hundreds of times, I'm familiar with all the restaurants.. but also having just been to Walt Disney World over Thanksgiving week, I was expecting some better food options for vegetarians! None. So we ended up just splitting a vegetarian gumbo in a bread bowl (good deal, in my opinion, since I get incredibly full after eating about 1/4 of it..). It was yummy. I definitely would say that it's my favorite lunch item in the park.

We were able to do Space Mountain and Indiana Jones with the help of fast passes, as well as Big Thunder Mountain, It's a Small World, and the Matterhorn.. we only had to wait about 25 minutes for the Matterhorn, which was great. However, a man, probably between 25-30 years old, seemed to have done something to shut down the ride, and was escorted out by park security.. so even though we were next to get on after the 25 minute wait, we ended up waiting another 35 minutes or so to actually get on the ride. But it was worth it! I've recently lost weight, so hubby and I can actually sit together on it now without me squishing him

The park was about to close, so we figured we would beat the crowds over to Rainforest Cafe. The wait was only about 15 minutes to be seated, and the food was decent. I had a grilled cheese, and asked to get a pickle on the side. Well, I was informed that there would be an extra charge for a pickle. Who charges extra for a pickle? I'm not the cheapest person out there.. but seriously? Charging extra for a pickle? So I didn't have a pickle! Kind of sad. Hubby and fish and chips and seemed to like them, but he said that it was a $10 dish, not a $18 dish, or whatever it was.

Once we got out of dinner, we headed over to DCA, which wasn't too busy at all. I guess Electronica was going on. It was loud and they kept playing the same songs over and over again, but I kind of enjoyed it. We did Monster's Inc, and then we headed over to Bug's Land and did the caterpillar's choo choo train, or whatever it was.. haha. Oddly enough, I hadn't done this yet.. and I found it very amusing, so it will be on my list of things to do from now on!

I then decided that it was very important for me to get one of the Mickey shaped popcorn buckets. So we headed over by Soarin' because I had a weird feeling that they'd have some over there. And they did! And we grabbed a hot chocolate in a cute souvenir mug, and headed out of the park around 8 PM. The ride home was only about an hour long back to Downtown San Diego where we live.. I don't know how we managed to drive so quick, but there was no danger or traffic tickets involved! So I guess it was a success :)

Overall, I had a great time, even though we were only there for a few hours. I didn't take any pictures with my camera, since I had it in my Buzz Lightyear backpack, but we managed to get a couple pictures on my Motorola Backflip (which, might I say.. doesn't have the best camera).

What fun to sneak away for a day at DL and DCA! I love the picture of you in front of IASW.

Were you able to ride anything over a DCA?

Thanks! We did Monster's Inc. and in a Bug's Land, we did the caterpillar ride (the name escapes me!). Both were fun. I'd love to have done more, but hubby has really bad motion sickness, and while he can do some things like Space Mountain and Matterhorn and Splash Mountain, etc., other things don't work for him.. such as Tower of Terror and Soarin'.. it's so random!

I hear you. My DH went on Space Mountain and was pretty much done for the morning. Motion sickness is a hard thing to predict with him too.

Your trip sounds like fuN!
