I don't like dressing up, but might be able to put up with bow tie like Steve did.Day 2: It's Epcot Dapper Day!
It was to my surprise and delight when we extended our trip to find out that our first day at Disney was Epcot Dapper Day! It worked out well as I had already made some FP at that very park! It was our first Dapper Day ever and I was really excited to play dress-up in the parks. We, however, already had an almost full set of suitcases because we were already going to be there for 2 weeks including a cruise, so I didn't want to bring anything too big or heavy. I bought a dress from ebay which is from a brand I normally wear (Leota NYC) and their dresses fold up small and don't wrinkle, and the style I got had sort of a vintage quality to it. I also liked that I can wear it to work as well. (Good reuse-ability value)! I then hit up amazon for the hairpiece and gloves for cheap. I bought Steve a set of bow-ties as well. They were all shipped 2-day Prime and got here in time right before our trip! Next time I'm in a park for a Dapper Day I'd like to put a little more thought in my outfit but for a week out I was happy with what I had.
@Lesley Wake also suggested that we have brunch that day at Wine Bar George. At first I wasn't sure because we had dinner at Yachtsman and it's usually such a heavy dinner, but then she mentioned something along the lines of DOLE WHIP FROSCATOS and before she could even say WHIP I said YES. I'm such a pushover when it comes to food, you can read her PTR for a rendition of that very conversation.
We decided to just get ready and dressed that morning so we were already dressed in our dapper day gear. We packed up and checked out of the Hyatt House Universal and took an Uber over to our new home for 3 nights, Port Orleans French Quarter! Our room wasn't ready so we just put our stuff with Bell Services and headed out to the boats to Disney Springs.
Here's me doing my best to create ears out of the POFQ decor! Look @Tracy161 I'm trying!
Here's semi-dapper Steve, without his bow-tie yet.
Waiting for the boat:
We took a lovely ride over to Disney Springs (it was a gorgeous day so far!). We got off and started walking towards the restaurant. A lovely lady approached me and said she reads my trip reports!! A nice surprise DISmeet! Her name is Letia (ok I am probably butchering the spelling) but it sounds like "Le-Tee-Yah" so if you are her, thank you so much for saying hi!!
We met up with Lesley right around World of Disney and walked over to Wine Bar George together. It was the first time for all of us. When we arrived and checked in, the hostess said that George will show us to our seats, which was upstairs. When we got to our seats Lesley and I asked if he was THE GEORGE of Wine Bar George, and he said Yes he is! LOL How cool is that! Now I wish we got a picture with Wine Bar "George!"
We started with the aforementioned much coveted Dole Whip Mimosa/Froscatos. Lesley and I got them and Steve got their regular red froscato. They were all really good!! I would definitely return just to have them again.
Here's Lesley in her very cute Dapper dress!
As entrees, Steve got the Steak & Eggs Frites: skirt steak / eggs / sriracha hollandaise. It was really good!
And I got the: Burrata avocado / bacon / ciabatta - which is basically like toast with avocado, bacon and buratta, my 3 favorite things. How could I not like this, it was so yummy, I never turn down burrata and the tomatoes and slight whisps of frisee added the right amount of acidity to the dish. I will get this again one day!
Lesley got the French Toast I believe and I'm sure she has picture of it but I do not. Overall, it was a great brunch and I'm glad I was pursued heavily, with lots of arm pulling, to attend.
After brunch we got ready to head to Epcot! We decided to take the Beach/Yacht Club bus and walk over. We got on the bus and got off at Beach Club to admire some of the Easter eggs. It was the last day they were to be displayed!
On the bus I put on my hairpiece and Steve put on his bowtie, which is surprisingly, did not mind, I thought he would hate it as he usually doesn't like anything binding.
Some of the amazing Easter eggs in the Beach Club:
We walked over to Epcot and got some photopass pictures just so we had some pictures of our full Dapper Day attire!
I also made Steve stand next to the sign over at the International Gateway to show everyone where the Epic Group meet is going to be on Saturday May the 4th. I took a picture of it and sent it to the rest of the girls. They asked if Dapper Steve was going to be doing that that day...I said he sure could, but not as dapper!
Dapper Steve Says: See the sign, and stand HERE.
So one of the first things we did when we got to Epcot was head to the Citrus booth to grab our Orange Bird sippers! So excited to get one! Unfortunately the orange cream drink that was served inside was blech. It was too creamy and artificial tasting and also too sweet. I was glad to dump it out and just keep the sipper!
BTW, did I mention it was a beautiful day in Epcot?
We parted ways with Lesley after walking around a bit. It was definitely getting a bit warm and she was going to rest back at POR before her conference the next day.
Steve and I on the other hand and some FP to do! I don't know how brilliant I was to make a Test Track Fastpass considering i didn't want to get my hair messed up (I sound like chunkysis here, but I made an effort with my hair today). But it's ok I will live...
Some Topiaries:
At Test Track, we created this car: -2 in Efficiency! LOL
And then we went on LWTL...dapper style!
We met up with @Malia78 (Karilynn) and I think we went to visit the fishes at Nemo.
Karilynn is here!
We rode Nemo and then visited the Manatees. I wish I could have recorded more Manatees and Me episodes but there were too many people, and I like a more intimidate experience on my show.
Coming up...more pictures of Dapper Day, and dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse, and do we ever make it to VIPassholder Night at MK?
Your hat looked cute and went well with your dress.
I didn't know about orange bird sipper...hope I still have time to pop over before they're gone.
The steak and eggs looked good, but I don't like spicy, so I'd have to have them leave the sauce off.
Cool that a TR reader recognized your pretty non-pancake face.
