Vegetarian in Disney

We are seasoned Disney guests and prefer TS meals. DH and I are vegetarian, our DD eats meat when we go out. We have a list of restaurants we typically eat at, but are looking for other options. I know at San Angel Inn we can ask for the vegetarian menu and several other places have options, but I was wondering if there are other vegetarians out there who have recommendations. We don't like to do dinner buffets because the options are limited for the price. We like breakfast buffets (1900 Park Fare and Tusker House are our 2 favorites). We will eat fish from time to time and Epcot is usually ok for us. Here are the places we usually eat at for dinner when we go:

@HS:
Brown Derby

@EPCOT:
Via Napoli
Rose and Crown
Tutto Italia
San Angel Inn (inside dining and request vegetarian menu)
Chef de France
Morocco has options as well

@AK:
Only have eaten at Yak and Yeti

@MK:
Be our guest
Plaza
Tony's

I would really like to try the new Skipper restaurant, but I don't see many options.

Resort dining:
California Grill
Sanaa

As I said, I would love to hear what other vegetarians do for lunch/dinner meals. We are fine for breakfast.

Thanks!

At Epcot for quick service go to the Morraco quick service they have a nice
Veggie plate

Yes it looks like skipper canteen only has one option for vegetarians. Going there next trip guess wife has only one thing to pick from.

The noodle salad appetizer at Skipper Canteen is fabulous and a healthy portion. We each ordered a salad last time and one falafel app to split and thought it was a perfect amount of food.

There are also quite a lot of options in resort dining. Jiko has a separate vegetarian menu if you ask. We also like Beaches & Cream and The Wave.

And maybe check out Disney Springs. So far we've eaten at the Wolfgang Puck counter service place, Homecomin' (we just had apps here), and D'Luxe Burger. All three were good.

Thanks for the suggestions! It is interesting how some have a vegetarian menu and others don't. We were at Kona for dinner a few years ago (love the breakfast!) and asked about vegetarian options for dinner, they had nothing to offer us. When making dining reservations, they are very conscious of allergies, but vegetarian is not one of the options. I had colon cancer 1 1/2 years ago and lost all but a few inches of my colon so I have to eat a plant based diet.

Kona currently has a vegetarian salad, vegetable sushi roll and a noodle entree with veggies and tofu just so you know.

So, call me crazy...but 'Ohana. I went a few years ago when I was following a pescetarian diet because someone in our group was DYING to go. I figured I could go and fill up on salad and bread pudding. I was DELIGHTED by their vegetarian options, so much so that when I went back this month, I asked for the pescetarian meal again. Here is my dining review from that meal, which was March 3rd.

Day 2: Dinner - 'Ohana

I had a late ADR at 'Ohana - 9:35 PM. The trials of booking a trip on very last minute notice. This ended up working out perfectly because I was able to watch Wishes on the Poly Beach with my Lapu Lapu before I checked in for my reservation. I did have a wait of about 20 minutes past my ADR time, probably partly because 'Ohana typically runs behind and other partly because there were some who lingered late to be able to watch the fireworks.

At any case, I was shown my table and I was prepared to feast. On my previous trip three years ago, we had an absolutely incredible meal here aided by Lori and Cliff. I was both extremely sad (for selfish reasons) but very happy to learn they have both since retired. Congrats to them both, but they were sorely missed by me.

In my former life as a pescetarian (a vegetarian that eats fish), I really didn't think 'Ohana would have much to offer me, but I was thrilled at the time to find that they had more than enough to offer a non-meat eater! I enjoyed the meal so much that I asked my waiter if it was possible to have the pescetarian meal again. It was late at night, so I wasn't sure they would be able to accommodate, but I was thrilled when Chef Boone stopped out and told me they could make the magic happen.

And I apologize, I only took pictures on my phone. I felt like I was literally sat on top of the party on both sides of me, so I didn't want to whip out my DSLR.

My first course was the salad - the same as what everyone else gets. Personally, I miss the old salad from years ago. I like the addition of the crispy wontons, but could do without the edamame and red peppers. Also, I really like red onions, but they went a little nuts with them on my salad. The dressing though...man. I could drink a glass of it (calories don't count on vacation, remember). Its the perfect dipping sauce for the bread.

This was a really large portion for one person...but I ate it all. LOVE 'Ohana salad!

Next up was a trio of dips: Red Pepper Hummus, Regular Hummus and Red Pepper Pesto, served with wonton chips and flatbread crisps.

I LOVE this. All of these. So much I ate. it. all.

Next up was the fun(ner) stuff. I got the noodles and the stir fried vegetables. Delicious!

My next course (we're up to 4 now if you're keeping score) was a pleasant surprise and not something we got last time...

This salmon doesn't look all that exciting, but it was DELICIOUS and perfectly cooked, not over done at all. I loved this!

A little too soon after the salmon arrived, so did this...basically the same stir fry veggies, with the addition of a whole lot of tofu! I loved this and thought it was even better with the ginger sauce.

I also got some of the fabulous shrimp!

Just to demonstrate the scope of food I was dealing with here...

I was stuffed beyond reason at this point. Absolutely stuffed.

But there was NO way I was foregoing dessert. No WAY.

I was so stuffed at this point, despite the fact I had been dreaming about this dessert for years...I could only manage a few bites.

I begged my server for a to go container. And he thankfully took mercy upon me. I feel horrible because I can't remember my server's name...other than it started with an A. But he was wonderful and so kind.

I full on pregnancy-waddled my butt out of 'Ohana, more than satisfied. Only to get to my car and realize not only had I forgotten my cell phone on the table, I had forgotten my precious goods! My amazing, luscious, buttery, caramelly, bread pudding!

I RAN back upstairs, knowing it was closing time and I was probably too late. Not to mention, I wasn't supposed to be smuggling out delicious bread pudding goods in the first place. THANK GOD my server not only found my cell phone, but he saved the bread pudding. Breakfast for the next morning was saved!

All in all, I know people either love or hate 'Ohana, but I happen to LOVE IT. Next time my boyfriend will be joining me, so this will definitely be a meat lovers affair, but I still might ask for the hummus and chips and some tofu in our stir-fried veg. The bread pudding is my favorite dessert on property!

The Wave also has a GREAT breakfast buffet and the chef was, in my opinion, overly accommodating to us by making bacon-less grits and a smoked salmon eggs benedict.

Spice road table has some interesting looking vegetarian tapas and also a vegetarian main meal. yum. I think the best vegetarian is had at places where the cuisine has it naturally rather than certain american cuisines that are meat heavy and you really feel like something is missing.

To be general, and not specific about individual places to eat, I have Celiacs, I do not eat meat, fish occasionally, and follow a fairly strict low carb diet under 50 grams a day, having celiacs makes this a wee bit easier And I find something amazing to eat just about everywhere at WDW. They are very accommodating. If you ask, they'll take care of you. Modifications on meals is commonplace imo at Disney! Never ever dissapoonted.

I am allergic to Meat (Beef, Pork, and chicken) and add that to my Ressies. I suggest you say you have an allergy to all meat, that will get there attention. I have never had a problem getting something to eat at WDW and they are usually very happy to accommodate any allergy you may have. The Chef can adjust any recipe to become vegetarian. I also recommend Spice Road Table and also San Angel Inn (has a vegetarian menu-but you have to ask for it-it is not list on main menu).

I'm not sure who you're responding to, so I apologize if I misunderstand your meaning. Are you recommending that someone say they have an allergy even if they don't? If so, I strongly disagree.

We went to the California Grill Sunday Brunch a couple weeks ago and it was amazing! I'm a vegetarian and the chef made me a special vegetarian sushi roll and a bacon-free wedge salad. The buffet has two vegetarian salads, lots of cheese, yogurt, fruit, etc. For entrees, the seasonal pancakes are vegetarian and I was also given the option of a vegetarian frittata. Our server (Roberto) was wonderful! He even offered to have the chef make me a dish of vegetarian cheese grits "on the side". It's expensive ($80/pp for adults), but they take Tables in Wonderland and bottomless mimosas are included!

Yes, I have auto-immune Arthritis (joints swell and get very lethargic and have to stay in bed) that is triggered by eating meat not technically considered an allergy (one that needs epi-pen)but I get very sick if I eat it, so I think it is OK to say you have an Allergy to Food that will make you sick if you eat it. Otherwise I have to explain all the details of my disorder, like I just did. I hope no one judges me for doing that, but I don't really care, I have to be concerned about my health while on Vacation.

The vegetarian sandwich at backlot studios is now terrible imo. They use to have a good veggie sandwich not anymore imo

Cobb salad minus the turkey and bacon at HBD Lounge.
Pistachio encrusted salmon and coconut rice at Boma
The veggie enchiladas at La Hacienda
Tofu (upon request can be subbed for meat) vegetable lo mein at Yak and Yeti
Veggie hibachi at Teppan Edo
Fettuccine campagnole at Tutto Italia

Il Mulino has terrific vegetarian offerings as does Spice Road Table. I eat at both often, and while I'm not a vegetarian, I eat vegetarian a lot because its often the most delicious thing - see the mushroom risotto at IM for instance:)

I also choose vegetarian/pescatarian often simply because it suits my tastes. As others have mentioned, La Hacienda de San Angel, the outside table service in Mexico, has a separate vegetarian menu when requested. I also have found tasty choices at Sanaa, Morimoto Asia, Teppan Edo and Tokyo Dining, Raglan Road and Art of Animation food court.
