Well, I agree with you that traveling with twins (mine are 6) keeps getting easier and easier, but so does everything else, which is a big relief when I think back to their first year of life, when I thought I'd never sleep again. On our last trip they were 3 and it was still kind of difficult for me, because DH was not along for the trip. This trip I'm counting on them to help me with their almost-3-year-old little sister. What a change!
Really cute picture, kritter!

For us it got easier once we ditched the strollers when they were 5!

Our boys will be 8 on our next trip in Feb. and I'm sure this will be the easiest yet.

I agree with both of you....
Disney fan,
It will be so much easier for you with the twins being able to help you out with the three year old....Thanks that is an older picture of the twins I should update it...I have tried several times and can nto get it to load properly through photobucket..

Terri Belle,
Did you find it hard to do disney without a stroller...I was thinking they would need till six since there is so much walking to do in WDW????
I have found that the double jogger is a a real pain to bring along and does nto fit through the gates very well at MK... Last time we brought the umbrella strollers and hooked them together so Dh would just push them...

The time we went in Aug.. two times ago it was a businees trip for Dh so I had to take them to many of the parks alone and it was hard to get on and off the rides by myself but somehow we mannaged...It is neat how the characters always ask if they are twins or mickey and minnie always have held up two fingers seeing if they were twins..this happen to you guys...

Hey I belong to an email group for multiples if you areinterested in every joining kind of neat....I can give you the address if you want...
kristin

We are going in two weeks & I am anticipating it to be easier now that they are older. They help with my little one. No more bottles, diapers, extra clothes, tons of snacks, naps etc.!! Though I have to say, this is my girls' 4th Disney trip, that they were not that hard to travel with, even as babies. We first went with them when they were 10 months old & they were eating table food a bit which was great. We try to take it easy since we do go just about every other year - if we don't see something this trip, we know we will fit it in next trip!

I agree with you we took ours when they were ten months old as well and it was not that bad....It was fun and the whole thing about packing so much the older they get the less youhave to pack...was so happy when we went back the next year and we did not have to bring diapers etc...
I love it now that they are older since they can do more rides.....
We have been taking them every year and this past time they knew which rides they wanted to go on and which shows to go to......

I agree it gets easier. Our twins were 3 on our first trip. It was fun but DH and I often remember carrying them, sleeping, up three flights of stairs to our resort room, along with our bags and such, LOL. :faint: Now it's nice at age 8, they can help out with the bags, go on some rides together by themselves, and be in the pools with us watching from the comfort of a lounge chair if we choose. :goodvibes All I can say is YES! :worship:

I often wondered if we had it a bit easier than some families who have children of various ages. Although they're a boy and a girl and their interests sometimes vary (we split up at MGM, for instance), for the most part we can stay together without worrying about having one in Fantasyland and another in Tomorrowland, etc. They also get along pretty well so when we're not in the parks they have that "built in buddy" to play with which helps make for an easier vacation in many ways.

Most people no longer realize ours are twins, with the exception of a few astute people who recogize they're around the same height or have the same shoe size. We were at MNSSHP for their birthday and they were dressed in like costumes and had their birthday dinner at MK so that was fun for them and the pictures came out really cute. It's hard to believe how fast the years have flown by! :hourglass

I agree it does get easier as they get older. Mine will be 7 next wk :earseek:
Can't believe they're that old already! Most folks don't realize they're mulitples since one dd is 4 inches and 10 lbs bigger then the other, they think they're a couple yrs apart in age. I have a ds12 who will take them on whatever rides I don't want to ride, so that helps alot also :cheer2: I'm not into anything that spins, goes upside down, or drops! I can sit and watch while they're in the pool or at the water parks.

The only downside is now that they're older they don't want to sleep together. Bigger dd kicks in her sleep and nobody will sleep with her. DS gets annoyed because, since he's the only boy, he always gets stuck with the trundle/daybed. Last trip we bought a blow-up mattress for the kicker, ds got the trundle, my mother got a bed, and I had other dd in my bed. Dh stayed home with the dog, cat, and chickens!

Another slight problem is one dd is really into princesses and the other isn't. We had quite a few arguements over having to watch Cinderella-be-a-princess (her name for the show), Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, etc when the other 2 wanted to ride rides. It was easier when all I had to do was drag ds to the girlie shows :guilty:

Same here! People tend to think that I have 3 girls, each one 2 years part from the other instead of twin 6 year olds and one 2 year old. It doesn't help that one is blonde and the other a brunnette either...

First of all your picture is cute...You were at the dolphin we stayed there last summer with Dh on a businness trip..It was great..
I can not wait till we are not having to carry them from the bus to the room half asleep they are getting heavy....
Plus the stroller etc... it is a lot when you are totally wipped out yourself/...
What a neat thing to have them there for their bday..How fun is that???
Mine too do not like all of the same rides we split up and did some rides sep. this year since DD wanted to ride the small world ride five times in a row,,,,, boy that was soo fun for mommy....
I think as the multiples get older we get to have it easier we went through the hard part when they were babies and when they are older they always have someone to play with and their interests are the same since they are the same age...Mine are best of friends but at the same time can be the worst of friends...They love one another so much that they are still wanting to share a room and not ever sleep without one another...we often times find them in the morning in the same bed...One will not get up till the other one is awake too cute....
Do any of your mulitples share rooms still...???
Kristin

My twin sons are 5 now- :lovestruc I can't believe it! We have done Disney 4X with them and it has gotten much easier each trip. We do, however, still use the stroller :earseek: . Believe it or not, it just works for us...one of my sons has a few medical issues and can't endure walking too long. We did the double jogger last year and stayerd at the Poly- but I got sick of the doublr wide feeling all the time! This March we are bringing the Maclaren Volo with the buggy board attachmant thingy- so one can sit and one stand, and (presumably) take turns. My DD (7) walks and keeps up just fine!

Kris
:wave2:

We went this August and my twin boys had just turned 5. They were much easier to deal with than their 2 year old brother!!!

We also used a double stroller for them...one of my twins had open heart surgery 2 months prior and I didn't want him to over do it with walking.

So we were pushing two strollers around the parks but it wasn't too bad. The toddler was the hard one...meltdowns around nap time. We tried to leave the park before those happened.

Joy

Our twin dds are now almost 12 - YIKES! We started going to WDW when they were 2. Even though they are identical, one is not into anything girly, so we get the grumbling when we do the girly stuff for her twin and younger sis.

They just stopped sharing a room, so they don't want to do it at WDW. Now they fight over who'll take the hide-a-bed in the LR at DVC. I swear, it's always something. For those of you with girls, just wait till the hormones start kicking in! Talk about double the fun.

A few folks still notice that they are twins. They are truly identical, even down to their feet. While in line last week at WDW a little girl kept staring at them, she finally had her mom ask if they were twins.

I would trade being a twingle mom for anything in the world!

oh my gosh I loved reading all of your posts....

It is amazing to me how much twins can be twins yet be so different...

krismom sorry to hear about the medical issues..and Joy to you too..wow you both have had to go through a ton....Hope all is well with your kids now???

Wow at twelve they finally want different rooms...i have heard that when the hormones kick in it is horrible.....

I love having twins and are always telling them how special they are since not everyone is a twin...It is soo neat....

Do any of you belong to a mulitples group or an email group for multiples???

I don't belong to any twin clubs, but I know so many other parents of twins I connect with them a lot about the issues we all share. At work alone, there are 6 of us with young twins. :earseek: When mine were very young, I met up with another mom of twins in town and we did a lot together with the kids. She was president of our local multiples club so even though I wasn't a member (they met on the nights I worked), I was invited to their events and it was always great fun seeing all the kids with their siblings.

One thing that amazed me in the twinhood experience was how my two still had "school anxiety" despite having a built in friend for the bus and the schoolyard, etc. I guess being a boy and a girl some of that is to be expected, but I tried to explain to them how when I was growing up it was just me by myself at school; how they are lucky to know they always have at least one friend - but they don't always see it that way. :rotfl: Luckily now they've developed a nice group of friends at school so it's not much of an issue anymore, but that really surprised me. Have any of you had that experience too?

As far as school goes, I chose to keep my kids together since every teacher has said they are pretty independent of one another (as well as around the same capability level), and that if it's what we wanted they wouldn't be opposed. As you can see in my signature, I went through almost a year of breast cancer treatment beginning when the kids were just turning 6 (that was a difficult year :( ) and although I'm in good health I felt more comfortable with them together for support (and logistics) in case we have any more health issues to deal with down the road. So far, it's working. Their (50-ish) 2nd grade teacher this year told me they are the first set of twins ever in her classroom :scratchin and she is struck with how separate they are yet she can see the love between them. :love2: That meant a lot to me. I also had to laugh to myself because she put them on far ends of the classroom at the beginning of the year, but recently moved them closer together. :teeth: I guess it's a very individual decision based on personalities and circumstances. Others?

Thanks for asking. Jack is doing fine now, he bounced back really quickly, Praise the Lord!

I used to belong to the local Mother's of Twins club...but I stopped going after a year or two.

My guys are fraternal and they don't get too much attention anymore. I don't dress them alike and they aren't in the same class at school. The same class at school wouldn't be a good thing, especially for the teacher...we've found it's best to divide and conquer them :) I LOVE my three sons but dh and I have found they bare a striking resemblance to Lynette's children on Desperate Housewives.

Others?

Funny you should say that about the school thing...Mine started preschool this year jsut one day a week due to scheduling conflict with dance etc... But will do three days next year... The thingk is they will not call it school they call it play time and flip if anyone asks them about going to school...They play apart according to the teacher but they do not like the whole school thing...They get so upset when they hear that word..I told them what you said about being together and having a play mate and all and that mommy never had that they do not care...Funny how kids can be?????
I am soo sorry to hear abobut yoru cancer my mom had that a while ago and it is hard for everyone involved....It must have been hard with the kids so young and all...???? As a former teacher you really have made the right decission...
i belonged to a twin club for a while and then as they got older I found that their were a few moms from the club that I got really close with then I did not belong any more...the moms I got close with I still see every week but did not feel the need to belong to a group any more..I belong to an email group and that is fun,...

Mine are fraternal as well..they look nothing alike...Funny you should say that about Lynette since we saw Cheaper by the dozen Two tonight and they are in that movie...Mine are not like that but sometimes I feel like LYnette...
I too stopped belonging about a year ago as well...To the twins club that is...I would like to keep my tiwns together for a few years in school...But wonder if the system will give a hard time for making this request?????

What did jack have when he was sick?????
