Taxi vs uber at MCO?

You will have no issue getting either a taxi or a rideshare.
Taxis will be waiting at the terminal. Rideshare cars (most of the time) have to drive to you from the holding lot. If the airport is busy enough, they will be dispatched to you immediately after dropping someone off at Departures.
Either way, you are charged for distance plus time.
With a private car service, you are charged a flat rate. The driver will meet you at baggage claim and escort you right down to the car, which will be parked in the Ground Transportation Concourse on level 1. It’s a pretty seamless process.

I'm trying to decide between Uber or Mears for myself and daughter. How far is the walk to the Uber pick up area? I like the idea of Mears, but someone said it's a long walk from Southwest. Do you think Uber would be closer? Are the fares similar? I know Uber/Lyft really increased prices during the pandemic and I'm not sure if they are still elevated. Thanks.

Mears Connect or private car service?
Mears Connect is on the B side. Southwest is on the A side, so you first have to collect your luggage on level 2 of the A side, then go up to level 3, across the terminal to the B side, and down to level 1, where Mears Connect is.
Uber and Lyft pricing can fluctuate like crazy when demand is high.

In oct they were making private car services use the ride share area thus not able to meet at bag claim.

That was probably a COVID policy just from their company.
I don't think so.. the guy apologized about it saying they make them wait in the holding lot like ride share. I hope I'm wrong going again soon and it kinda stressed me out.

I am a driver with Mears' luxury division. We do meet & greets at baggage claim. Several other companies do as well. We have a holding lot (not the same lot as rideshare), but when the client's flight is nearing the gate, we go to the Express Pickup lane on level 1 and do a meet & greet at baggage claim.

I will have to ask for sure before I book. Thanks for the info!
