Talk to me about summer trips

Every time we have went it has been summer. Crowds have never been much of an issue. Not like Spring Break or Christmas time. A few items to keep in mind to help with the heat, some will just be repeat of what others have already posted.

  • Ponchos are a must to protect against the afternoon rain
  • Cooling Towels are a great way to keep cool. Can add water straight from water fountain, or bathroom sink. Pick'em up before you go, or once you are there.
  • Misting fans are helpful when you are standing in line.
  • Planning ahead is extremely helpful. If you are on dining plan, booking BOG for a nice guarantee cooled lunch, or Crystal Palace for a late morning breakfast. If you plan on staying in the park midday, try to get your self a break in a cool place while you are there.
  • Inside dark rides and attractions are a good way to get out of the heat (Hall of presidents, Philharmagic, Character meets). If you plan one or 2 rides outside, then plan an indoor activity.
  • Water, Water and more Water....
  • Im sure it is already said, get to the park, take train to back of the park, work you way toward the exit.
  • Afternoon breaks at the pool or room.

Summer crowds are fine outside major holidays. The issue is the heat. I went in August in 17 and going again this August. Do your due diligence and plan accordingly. Plan around meals, breaks and indoor attractions and shows. You can have a wonderful time.

For us, we would never do summer again. While we are rope droppers and midday breakers during the heat, the heat is too much for our family. For us, it is not enjoyable if we are melting and uncomfortable. The stress of keeping everyone extra hydrated and cool was not fun.
