Talk to me about Indiana Jones Adventure

I've read mixed reviews of this ride, with some people saying it's their favorite ride in the park, and others saying it is too bumpy and bone-breaky. The Boy is not tall enough to ride, so I had been planning on child swapping this one, but honestly, the child swap system kind of sounds like a pain in the patootie. I'm considering not riding at all in 2020, as there is a very good chance The Boy will be tall enough when we return in 2021 and we can all ride together then. In its place, we would either free up a chunk of day to re-ride favorites, or possibly even have a go at ROTR depending on what happens with crowds. Is this one an absolute can't miss? Or should we skip it this first year?

Both of those are true. One of the best rides but also bumpy and jerky. I use my feet to brace myself in the car and hold tight to the hand rail to keep from being thrown around. It helps a lot.

It's awesome. Ride it.
Even with the child swap system? How long should I plan for two parents to get through consecutively? My tentative plan was to do Jungle Cruise at rope drop, and grab a very early FP for IJA. DH goes first while I take The Boy to Tarzan, and then swap and I would go while DH takes The Boy to Tiki Room. Yes or no?

If your child is tall enough, and it won't scare him, let him ride. Just put your arm around him to hold him in place.

Overthinking all of it for DL in my opinion. Unless you’re going at the busiest time of year, I don’t know that doing this kind of touring is necessary. But, whatevs! You do you.

Just ride it. Get fastpasses or do Single Rider. Do it early in the day. I wouldn't bother doing child swap, as it is precisely the same as just using fastpasses or SR anyway.

Just because your child will be tall enough doesn't mean he will want to ride that ride next year either. Mine are 13 and 15 and still won't ride it. They are scared of it, and it is excessively loud, dark, and full of sensory assaults, so it is pretty intense.

I've read that one of the lines (single rider?) is confusing to navigate. Would a person who once got so lost driving in a straight line for two miles that she wound up in another town be likely to get turned around? Asking for a friend....

No, it's not confusing. You won't be the only one in the SR line. The CMs tell you exactly where to go and when. You basically just go through the exit, walk up until you reach a CM and wait where they tell you. They will then escort a group of SR to another checkpoint with a CM. That one will let you through and to an elevator. You get in, go up, exit, walk down a short hall, get into another elevator and go back down. When you exit, you are put into a chute and when you get to the front, a CM will wave you over to fill a seat. The SR go in groups of about 7-10 into the elevator. Just follow the person in front of you.

Indiana Jones is one of THE best attractions at the whole Disneyland resort. It's been that popular since the day that ride opened. It is so good that you SHOULD go through the hassle of going on it. Single Rider line usually goes pretty quickly. You go up the exit. Just walk up to a CM at the entrance and ask and they'll direct you. You could also ask the CM if you can do SR line AND child swap.

I mean, the ride is incredible. Puts Dinosaur at WDW to shame. Yes, it's jerky. yes, it's loud. It's exciting. We always end up with huge grins on our faces the entire time.

Try it once and you might find that you're hooked and then you'll go on it every single day you're there.
