Just now leaving Port Everglades and it’s 6:15.

Anyone know why?

They’re not giving out any information onboard. We watched two other cruises leave between 4:00 and 4:30 so I assume it’s a Disney thing and not a Port Everglades thing.

Could be a million reasons- people could’ve been delayed to port on DCL air, could’ve had issues loading luggage, could’ve had issues clearing customs to leave

That’s only like i think an hour later than usual so not beyond crazy

What ship are you in? We’re on RC Anthem of the Seas and watched Disney Wish start to sail away around 5:00. Did you come back or, is Port Everglades a different port?

What does the itinerary say departure time is. There can be thousands of reasons. Some are passengers planes were delayed due to weather, there is rough weather in the path the ship will be taking and they are waiting for it to clear, they might be waiting for some vital food item to be delivered, the port guide was late showing up. Any and all those things the passengers have no reason to care about. As long as they are not screaming at you to quickly, on a run, evacuate the ship, just go to the lounge and have some sort of fruity drink that has an umbrella in it.

Bingo.

There could be a medical issue that is not 100% clear disembarkation is necessary and family is deciding what to do. There could be a surprise inspection happening. Most likely there are multiple parties on DCL-booked air that were delayed.

But as @goofyernmost says, unless they are telling you to hunker in one area or evacuate the ship, don't worry about it. Enjoy being on vacation. I'd happily be on a cruise ship that's delayed leaving port than back in school.

All depends on where you have to be tomorrow.
Back around the beginning of the 20th century people used ships to get to important events oceans away and then getting there on time was crucial. That said, however, todays cruise ship passenger is probably not on the ship because they have a business meeting in the Bahama's at 8am and they have to be there or they will lose a lot of money. They are on vacation and unless it is when one has to get back to the ship after an excursion, time doesn't really matter.

I believe happycamper was referring to the fact that the cruise line has paid to be in port at a certain time/date. And paid for it.

Or they booked an excursion in the morning, so getting into port late would actually matter . . .

Could be, but that is an expensive way to travel and like any transportation option there are always possible ways that they get delayed. It is a situation that common sense tells us we have to be flexible about because there are no guarantee's that things won't happen to alter the best made plans of mice and men.

Also something that happens regularly. If it is an excursion even the people running the excursion can alter the plans. On a cruise ship excursions are extra and if they cannot be done the money, if already paid, will be refunded. When in a port there are always a lot of people the opt to stay on the ship and not go anywhere organized.
