State by State...What is Yours Doing/Covid-19?

NJ- stay at home order. Only essentials businesses open- grocery, pharmacy, hardware, pet supply, medical, post offices

I work at a private parochial school. Originally we were closed until March 30 but just extended today until April 20

TX is a huge state and the governor has said he won’t shut the state-thus far. Dallas is shelter at home as of today and San Antonio will be at midnight tomorrow.

many places have to work even thou they are non essential.
Amen to that!

DW is literally 4 workdays and a checkout from retirement after 35 years, holds a totally non-essential position in a very essential organization...and they're making her work.

Her boss told her she could burn her leave time (which she gets paid for on retirement) if she wanted to take a day off.

We are on "pause NY" as our Governor isn't calling it a shelter in place.
All non-essential businesses are closed however the list of essential businesses is pretty long.

It doesn't matter, people aren't paying attention. I just read that police are investigating a party/wedding of 100 people in Rockland county. Idiots.

TN here—our state government is pathetically slow to respond despite our state being in the top 15 in case number. Restaurants were ordered to switch to take out just today. The governor has urged schools to close until March 30 but not ordered. City governments have to adopt their own policies. Nashville closed restaurants and bars a week ago. Our city has a stay at home order starting today, restaurants had closed a few days prior. Thankful our city is doing more than our state right now...

Washington State. No stay at home order. We are out and about every day. Restaurants still open for take out. All the grocery stores still open. Went to Costco this morning. Plenty of toilet paper. Number of cases is not exploding as others have predicted. The hospitals have a few cases in the intensive care units but they are not overwhelmed like the fake news media is reporting.
There’s a stay at home order statewide made in the last hour-ish

My doctor's office called me today to say that they're temporary cancelling all appointments for healthy patients and putting us on a back up/wait list, so we'll be rescheduled at a later time when the corona virus stuff has died down. I thanked them for the phone call because I've been meaning to call them to reschedule.

I went to CVS to pick up my medication. I was not able to do this inside the store. I had to go outside and go through the Drive Up line, and get my medication there. I did not feel safe doing this. Surely, they could come up with a better/safer plan. I have heard that my bank's lobby might close. I don't drive, so will I have the same problem there? My husband sends me to the bank every week to cash a check, so he will have enough cash in the house for a week. I understand most of the precautions taken, but this one boggles my mind.

Near Philly - our county has a stay at home order from the PA governor. Only life-sustaining businesses are open. Around here I’m pretty sure it will be enforced.

A lot of banks around me have already closed their doors, and are only allowing customers in if it’s necessary for in-person and by appointment only. Actually, even some of the retail stores allowed to stay open because they were deemed essential have only pick-up available.

It really depends on the business, but I've seen quite a few setting it up where there might be a table at the door and everything has to be done there. I know of one local bottle shop with a French door (pretty useful for this purpose) keeping the top open, and they currently seem to be taking orders and bringing them to the door rather than allowing customers to browse.

Just to expand a little on MA:

Gov Baker: “I do not believe I can — or should — order U.S. citizens to be confined to their homes for days on end,” Baker said. “It doesn’t make sense from a public health point of view, and it’s not realistic.”

It’s interesting that the list of essential businesses for a blizzard is much shorter than during a pandemic.

Michigan's governor addressed us Michiganders this morning saying as of midnight our state is on lock down. You can only go places that are deemed necessary. Two of my nieces received papers they will carry in their cars but it's not like we're going to have Checkpoints to check those papers as the governor said; so we'll see. :confused3

Strangely yesterday morning my husband got an email from the company he works for to remind all employees to carry their company ID badges on them when leaving home as their industry is deemed essential. The company is nationwide and MI had not yet announced the lockdown.

I noted you mention you don't drive. Hopefully your husband has access to a car and can drive?
The changes you mentioned are very standard during this crisis for many pharmacies and banks/credit unions.

Right now, I can still walk into my pharmacy if I'd like, but I much prefer the drive up. Other local pharmacies are drive up only.
As far as banking, the lobbies are pretty much all closed in my town. It's drive up or ATM.

Well..... Arizona is divided in half and eastern Arizona following US protocol....but in the Western Half, out in the middle of nowhere Yuma, life is going on as normal, other than empty shelves. All business here have closed on their own choice, not a city choice. Casinos just closed....because one was gambling enough to keep the expensive enterprise floating.
