Star Wars dessert party

We loved the FEA dessert party last year even though it rained and we had to be inside. We have the Star Wars one booked in August and I’m still toying with adding the FEA in hopes of no rain this time!

We did this in 2016 for our 25th wedding anniversary. The jawas and stormtroopers were fun and the bartender was super cool and generous with his drinks! I liked the frozen Nutella and I use my Chewbacca cup a lot. The fireworks were AMAZING!!! But dang those bus rides back to the resorts after😥😥😥Gonna use that Minnie Van this trip! Im too old for busses!

We did this last year at Spring Break. I thought it was pretty good, since we love Star Wars. The desserts were good and my kiddos loved interacting with the Storm Troopers! We use our Phasma mugs for popcorn at home. And I liked our viewing spots for the fireworks. We had plenty of room to sit down on the ground and still have a great view!

IMO, the best things about the SW dessert party in no particular order:

Viewing area for kids (and other assorted vertically challenged people)

Booze is included

If you enjoy pita, hummus, and salted, cured meats, this is EASILY a dinner. Matter of fact, I liked the savory foods more than the desserts. I think Disney made a mistake in declaring these things "Dessert Parties." They are NOT just desserts.

Storm Troopers working the room are hilarious.

Meet&Greets.

We EASILY made the HEA and SW "Dessert Parties" a dinner, and we ate VERY well. The WDW extras that we have chosen have always been well worth the money. Not sure what the SW dessert party costs these days, I think it was 69 bux a pop when we did it, but with my math, all of that stuff together, PLUS the stuff I left out - the mug, the storm troopers walking us to the area, the experience for the kids to not have to stare at peoples' butts and shoulders, not being blocked by 15 dads putting their kids on their shoulders because they believe you do not deserve to view anything since they are more important than the 4 people they are blocking, and more, it's a decent value. The only thing I would like more would be a seated area outside, and a server delivering a few more Yeunglings to the viewing area.

They are currently scheduled every day until the end of July. Don't know after that.
Not quite understanding the question, I'm a geezer. Are you thinking busier dates should be avoided?

Right...like is Monday or Saturday always an especially crowded party?

Now you're really challenging me, you asked about the SW tour. Did you mean the party?

I'll start over. I'm so sorry, and I truly appreciate your help and patience.

I plan to book the Star Wars Dessert party in early August, but I was wondering if because the tours sometimes create a more crowded viewing experience, is there a day of the week that would be recommended as generally better for the dessert party?

Not a problem.

Gotcha, normally even with the tour people in the viewing area it's ok. Now if all of them showed up, which is rare, and if the party was sold out, and if they invited a bunch of VIPs, it might make for a cozy viewing area, but that's a lot of ifs, so I wouldn't be too concerned. I'd select the night that works best for you.

We obviously are the exception. We did not think it was worth it at all. We are big Star Wars fans, the dessert table looked nothing like the pictures and YT videos, Unimpressive would be an understatement, and they had the same characters at the party as the ones we had photos taken at Launch Bay where anybody can have taken. The viewing was good but I am in a scooter so I would have had a good spot for viewing without the party anyway. The stein of Darth Vader was a joke. Plastic and looked like something you would buy at Dollar Stores. YMMV

Not really, it's not for everyone.
the dessert table looked nothing like the pictures and YT videos,
How can that be? What's at the party is as described on MDE.

That's correct. Other than the escort to the viewing area by the Stirmtroopers, none of the SW characters are advertised as appearing at the actual party, not even the Stormtroopers, although they do mingle several times during the party.

Having handed out thousands of them, that is not the usual response. Do you have a suggestion for a better handout?

Thanks to all who contributed to this thread. We have been considering this and the thread helped me make my decision.

We've done the dessert party a few times and found it to be "worth it". Not so much as a strategy to view the fireworks (the view is good, though!), but as a whole experience. The vibe is really cool, although I do miss the original viewing location and the Jawas. (not part of the party, but they were fun to interact with during the party!)

We've also done the MK party several times and I can say the food, drinks, atmosphere and souvenirs were much, much better at the SW party. There's also more CM interaction, and as someone who is gluten free that was a big plus! The gf offerings were delicious and a chef came out to speak with me and explain each item they gave me. I never had that at the MK party.

I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

I really liked my experience. The view for the fireworks and show was great, but there is enough space at DHS to make it easy to get space.
I think Disney realizes this and puts more effort into it.
The desserts are really good, and the savory food is nice. You could make a light meal out of it, but its more of a snack.
I think the drinks are really nice as well with lots of options. There are also Mikey bars available, but you have to ask.
Having it in the launch bay was a plus and the Storm troopers mingle with you during the party, making for a super fun experience. They stay in character and harass you a bit.
The CMs encourage you to take desserts, drinks etc. to the viewing spot, so you can really have a lot if you would like.
The stein souvenir isn't amazing, but its a nice touch and I use mine for pencils and the like.
As someone who was skeptical about value, I really enjoyed it.

Done this 2X and as SW fan and 501st member... LOVED IT! Good desserts and adult beverages.
Good variety of sweet and savory, plus the characters were fun. When I went, it was standing room at small cocktail tables.
I think they have seats now? get there for the start of it and eat up. have a light dinner or bigger lunch and have a BLAST!

can you take stroller to fw viewing area?

No
Tables are for 5 Guests. You're a party of 4 so you'll have you're own table.
Usually you can sit on the ground but on certain busy party nights you may have to stand. It can also be both sitting and standing. No way to predict ahead of time.
If you have a sleeping infant in the stroller before entering the party area, they will allow you to take the stroller in otherwise you'll park it outside and pick it up on your way out.

I've done the party 3 times. The last time was last year in the spring. It was a crowded party - tables were tight and it had very, very long lines for the drinks. There was a full VIP tour group there and the party was sold out.

The desserts were good but I really enjoyed the savory items more.

I did enjoy the storm troopers - I got in trouble with them when I walked up the handicap ramp to take a picture. (there was no one using it at the time). They escorted me down and told me they were keeping an eye on me.

I also loved doing the character meet and greets in the area with virtual no lines - everyone was staying in the dessert party area so the line was extra short.

I must be the only person who doesn't like the area for watching the show. Everyone was sitting on the ground and I can't sit on the ground easily. I did manage to get down so I wouldn't block the people behind me but was in horrible pain from sitting on the ground . And then I could barely get up - a nice gentleman next to me helped me up.
The other 2 times I did this party the viewing area was further back and everyone was standing so it caught me by surprise when the viewing area was moved closer. I prefer the view further back too.

If I ever do this dessert party again, I will need to bring a stadium cushion in with me so I can at least be comfortable once I get on the ground.

Overall it's a nice dessert party but it's not my favorite.

Depending on when you did the party, you may have done it when it was included as part of the tour? Only the viewing is included now. [/QUOTE]

Just the opposite, many people don't care for the current viewing location.
