Something About Nothing............ #14

Weatherman lied, it’s cold. Definitely the wind out there today that’s biting us out there.

Got what we needed but not lamps yet, we’ll get them eventually.

mac, janet, Maria and Ruth…….email is down for a few hours……again!!!

It's Friday :cheer2: It was a little hard to drag my butt out of bed this morning. I sure could have rolled over and slept for a little bit more. But I'm up and at work.

Tonight we have our niece's play/musical. They have been trying to get this performance since 2021...but with " C" and restrictions that kept them pushing off the dates. All the shows are sold out. I believe my sil said there are 15 shows...all sold out! It is " Shrek the musical" So it should be good. Then tomorrow we head to the big city for the concert - Thomas Rhett. He's not a huge name....but he is a favorite of ours....so it should be a good show.

Quiet evening last night. I didn't do much. I did get to the gym to get some steps in on the dreadmill. Then it was home for a quick call to my sister...and that's about it!

For dinner, I tried a recipe I had seen that was actually supposed to be done in the crockpot. I used the stove instead. It was ok....but my own version of it is better. The recipe called for packages of a rice/noddle variety by Knorr. It was easier, but I now know we prefer a more " homemade" version of it. I know we are now " an ingredient house" We liked it, but prefer my version better - even though it takes me a little longer to make.

We have gone to Vegas several times, and it always seemed like we missed a lot to see and do. We haven't been for several years, but did enjoy staying at the Mirage and seeing the white tiger compound. We usually toured all the casino's we could just to see their decor. The only one we missed was the Luxor. I really wanted to see that but didn't have the time. We took the side trip to the Hoover Dam which was frightening and interesting. LOL
We never ever came out of there ahead! We usually lost everything we brought, but had a great time with good food and shows:). There are a lot of shows at each casino that are fun, and concerts too.
It will be fun! I haven't been to Vegas in over 25 yrs, dh is 15-16 yrs. So it has changed alot. We are thinking The Hover Dam on Monday. We are not big gamblers, so doing that is not much in the plans. There are a few things I want to see - The Mirage volcano - which is actually doing to be removed!!! The Mirage is going to change into a new hotel - The Hard Rock I believe. So I really want to see the volcano one last time. There are also a few other things I want to see...Fountains at Belagio, The iconic sign, I would LOVE to do a gondola boat ride at the Venetian. Then one great meal!
Also my favorite guy - Keith Urban is actually doing a residency there while we are there, but I don't know if we will try to catch his show. I am always crossing my fingers to get to see it ;) I have been hinting pretty heavily lol

But, everything that can be put back in it`s place, is in it`s place. Gotta love new flooring when everything has been decorated with new drapes, blinds and all new bedding, although that will wait till Monday. Only a few more nights of sleeping in one of the spare rooms.
It sounds like it will be amazing once it is done! And you are settled back in.
I am having a quiet night at home. I will probably spend most of the weekend on homework.
Do you have a count down of how many more weekends of homework. You should make a countdown calandar!
Oooh...so many choices. I've only been to Vegas once and that was 22 years ago.
I think that is part of the problem....tooooooooooo many choices
We have gorgeous beaches here, we`re very lucky where we live and I`ve always lived beside the sea apart from when we lived abroad for a time, wouldn`t choose to live anywhere else. Although I do think our West Coast beaches are more scenic as we have palm trees along them. It is very tranquil and runs for miles.
It's great you have such an amazing area to live to have scenery like that, just out your back door! For me, seeing, feeling fantastic beaches like that, renews my soul. It is truly some of the few times I feel at peace and I can relax.

Well, my daily papers arrived on my desk...so I should start that daily paper shuffle.

Have a great day everyone!

Bahahahaha...lazy Friday. I wanted another tea...so I did a Tim's run and picked up a little for everyone.

Still gotta shuffle the papers - but I don't want to

Vegas is on our to do list also, we`d stay at Wynn Hotel there, one of our very good Orlando friends raves about it. But, so many choices out there

I agree, living beside the sea is good for the soul, we adore walking there most days (knee permitting now) even when it`s cold....but not too cold, it`s peaceful and tranquil with no industry around. It`s a 5-10 minute walk away or a 3 minute car ride to the car parks along the seafront. And we have woodland behind and around us, best of both worlds.

But, I do hope you get to see Keith Urban.....cool guy!!

Finally got all the baking done around 9pm......Tom has just dropped it all off in the village hall for tomorrow, he said there are plenty of items that have been dropped off. We only stopped to have a quick dinner, he cooked the steaks beautifully, I made a pepper sauce and triple cooked chips (fries)

We will drop over nearer lunchtime tomorrow as a man who moved here several years ago origiannly from Louisiana, well before that he came from South Carolina, but, he is bringing a huge smoker and doing ribs with cornbread to sell. Edgar`s ribs are famous around here, they are delicious and he is such a lovely man, very deep soulful Southern accent, a true gentleman.

I`ve just opened a nice bottle of wine as a treat for all our work last few days.

I doubt I`ll bake for at least a month, except for Kyle`s office the day we go in for our appointment, they love my petticoat tails shortbread, might surprise them with something else too.

Watching a Netflix show called Hollywood.......it`s a Ryan Murphy show, so a little adult oriented.....it`s good so far, has Jim Parsons and Holland Taylor along with the wonderful Patty LuPone.

Good Saturday morning.... :sunny:

It`s a glorious day here, cool, but sun is shining so can`t be all bad.

Going to walk for a while, as long as I can manage then head into the village for the bake sale and impromptu bbq from a real American. He sent Tom a txt last night telling him he had made some jalapeno cornbread too and not to tell me.....lol......of course he told me.

Ribs and cornbread for lunch and Thai take out tonight.....no cooking at all for me today as Tom cooked breakfast, well, bacon on a soft roll.....lovely!! Food sorted for the day......

Have a lovely weekend 😁

Save me a seat at your table
I heart cornbread…

mac, you`d have loved it!! I was telling Edgar about the bbq place you use and he said yep, can`t get better than a good bbq place!! He knew your area vaguely and said yes, it`s a beautiful area.

The whole afternoon was lovely.....I did limit my rib intake as we are having takeout tonight, but they were lush!! And he had only made a small amount of jalapeno cornbread, loads of regular, and saved me a container filled with it. So good, like you, I adore cornbread, especially the good stuff!!

It really has been a gorgeous day, a bit chilly but the sun kept shining and our village was busy! I think most things sold and it was nice to see a few folks we hadn`t seen for a while.

Back home now and enjoying a late afternoon libation...... then Thai food tonight...... :sunny:

You have been missed and hope you come back whenever you have free time!

I miss all the homies when we don’t hear from them

Quick hello. I have been up to my eyeballs in medical coding. Have I mentioned lately how much I hate this class? Just one more assignment to finish for this week and then just 4 more weeks left in this class.

Where are all the homies today?
Are many of you cooking for the game tomorrow?

Sunday will be a pizza night for us.

It is quiet.......we need Janet back posting.......

No game over here.......we don`t like UK footaball, so not a watcher of other football either.

Pizza sounds good for tomorrow. I cooked short ribs over night so that`s dinner for us tonight.

So far, wings and beer! Lol!
The vibe is crazy here about the eagles, although Lynn is going to feel a lot more than we will up here!
Hope all are well!

mrose....it`s so good to see you post here again! As mac says you have been missed, hope you and yours are doing good. Don`t be a stranger.

Quick hello. I have been up to my eyeballs in medical coding. Have I mentioned lately how much I hate this class? Just one more assignment to finish for this week and then just 4 more weeks left in this class.

4 weeks will fly past Charade. Hope you get through it smiling......:)

We ended up going out last night for Thai food, the restaurant had some cancellations so we ended up going there with some friends and went back to their house afterwards for a drink.

Food was good, but it got a little busier later, we were done by then so nice timing. We all got cabs back to one of their homes and I think we got home around 1am, but it was a good evening and nice to get back out with friends again, hopefully we`ll all stop hibernating now.

This morning heading out for a walk, it`s going to be sunny with a little cloud and barely a breeze so it should be lovely. Then some shopping and some family/friends call time.

Dinner tonight will be beef short ribs I cooked in ale, herbs and stock overnight. The beautiful aroma in my kitchen this morning is making me hungry!! Will serve that with creamy mash and roasted carrots and parsnips.

Then one more night in one of the spare rooms, back to our own room tomorrow night. I have all the new bedding washed, dried, ironed and ready to be put on once the bed is built up along with the closets. Closets first though, they`ll be here early then the bed is coming late afternoon, that gives them all day to build it all. Then my home will be back to normal again.

Always love a sunny, relaxing Sunday........:sunny:

Have a lovely Sunday 😁

Good morning. It’s a super soggy Sunday here. I think it’s supposed to rain all day. A good day to stay inside, finish my class work and maybe watch TV. I doubt I will watch the game tonight. I don’t care anything about either team.

Good Sunday Morning everyone

Robo, nice shopping and oh no, son has the virus, and I hope he gets better soon. Mummy dust well wishes to him.
Thank you Lynne son is doing better.

Millionaires Shortbread is buttery shortbread topped with a caramel made from condensed milk, set but not hard, and a topping of chocolate then cut into squares or slices. Sometimes called caramel shortbread.
It looks decadent.

Finally finished the TR finally......wooooo........even though it was five weeks long, it shouldn`t have taken as long. But it`s done now......
Your trip report was wonderful. Having the extra days I“am sure were nice.

I‘am still trying to finish my trip report. I don‘t like leaving things unfinished for sure, but life does get in the way at times.

Thanks gals. Trite but, seems like I’m missing her more each day as the reality sets in on me. Keeping busy helps fill the days. I take solace in that we were blessed to spend so much time together over the years, the most precious gift
It’s always so hard to say goodbye to your mom. Having good memories of time spent with her will be a gift you will hold in you heart forever:hug:

The mr bought me the latest of Mr King‘s scary tomes. It’s close to 3 inches thick. Haven’t cracked it yet.
Funny you mention that book. I saw it at our local Walmart here 3 weeks ago and there were only 2 copies left. I was on the fence about buying it and I finally bought it last week. I find his books a bit wordy, but when you finally wade through and get to the meat and potatoes its good. I have only read 2 of his books so far.

Welcome home. Not. Was cold, but there’s always that just feels good when sleeping in your in your own bed and using own bathroom. That and already smelling burnt food, as little one was hungry when we got home. Sigh.
I’am happy to get home, but do enjoy the adventure of vacation.

We did get out a walk along the shore this morning, it was chilly, but the sun was appreciated as it took the edge off slightly.
Beautiful pictures of your beach walk. I‘am sure the good clear air does wonders for
your health.

came back in, and the smell was worse in the LR. Those who have experienced it will agree, you can’t mistake the odor from an electrical fire. No smoke, just that smell. Madly searching at every plug, lamp & electronics in the room. Sat down to catch my breath after moving the furniture about…odor quite strong there. Turned out it was changing cord attached to my ipad. was starting to smoke:eek:
Thank goodness you found the source of the burning smell. It is a wake up call to all of us to keep watch on our device charging cords.

Then spent the afternoon at our village community hall, they were doing an afternoon tea to raise funds for that dreadful Turkey/Syria earthquake. Everyone is trying to do something to help as well as just making donations to the fund. Absolutely dreadful to see the scenes, seeing a newborn baby pulled out alive brings such hope in pure devastation, but sadly the mother didn`t survive.
It is always so nice to hear all the wonderful things folks do to help others in need. Sounds like you and Tom are very involved in your community and help out when there is a need. That is so nice of you both.

My back is now back to normal! I don't know how something so small and insignificant can cause such pain
Good to hear our back is better.

Lots of that sort of glitching all day in park according to CMs I spoke to, thinking many sectors getting hit by Russian hackers that’s not being publicized. Yes, I am wearing tin foil lined Mickey ears lol
LOL…I had to laugh when I read that. You might not be far off on lining yourMouse ears with tin foil. They shot down a number of objects in the sky over the past few days.

Love is in the air:p need to pick up one more popcorn bucket for my figment loving family.
What a nice greeting on your arrival. Cute Dragon popcorn buckets.

I need to try that cocktail if we get back to Boathouse, we did enjoy it there. Talking on hanging with the big dogs....one of my trips to New York, my aunt and cousins took mum and I over to Fire Island....told me of this cocktail one of the restaurants sold that you can only drink one of them called Rocket Fuel. Of course, Carole had to order one....they watched me like a hawk as I sipped it, then sipped some more, then drank the lot. Their eyes widened after every sip.....lol.....it wasn`t as strong as they described. One of the husbands ordered one and I ordered another.....I was fine, he was ok after he had something to eat......teased him about it for the longest time!! Apparently it`s well known for knocking folks out...... 😁
LOL….I‘am a wimpasaurus when it comes to drinking in my later years. I do enjoy a cocktail, but if they are strong I have to be careful.

Charade you will be done with your classes before you know it. Graduation is right around the corner.

Mac hope you are doing better.

Keisha hope you and your Mr are enjoying your trip.

Shout to all the Sans family who are not posting.

Well it is a sunny, windy Sunday morning. Just sitting in my favorite spot looking out of my window at the palm trees swaying in the wind.

Son and family are doing better and little J is doing better too. Prayers being answered. Thank you all for your prayers for them. Son is going to have a test next month and the decision will be made then on surgery need. I‘am praying he will totally heal up and they can hold off on surgery for awhile.

I went up to Universal for Mardi Gras and Kennedy Space Center for a Quick trip. I took a lot of photos. I’am going to do a trip report on it, but I need to finish my HHN trip report first. I have truly come to understand the labor of love that doing trip reports involve. I love sharing the fun and photos.

Carole you are the trip report Queen. You have inspired me and many others to do trip reports. It is always fun to look back on the photos and information from the trip reports that everyone does.

Today is Super Bowl Sunday and hubby does like to watch the Super Bowl. I watch some of it and do enjoy the halftime show.

Today is our Anniversary.

I’am married to my best friend and the sweetest man I know. He is truly a gem. I’am thankful for this very special man in my life. He is the love of my life.

Hubby wanted to know where I wanted to go for dinner today and I told him it would be better to go out tomorrow as places here are busy on Super Bowl Sunday. So I will have to think on it.

February is a celebrating month for us with Anniversary, Valentines Day and Birthday so lots of celebrating. I do enjoy the fun.

I did a little shopping for birthdays and Christmas while in Orlando. I‘am always looking for some gifts for family and maybe a couple for myself:ssst: Hubby told me to go up and enjoy Mardi Gras and buy myself something for our Anniversary.

Hubby does not like to go up to the parks or shop so it is always so thoughtful of him to support my love of Universal and a little retail therapy.

Need to get moving this morning. Going to make some brunch and go out in the yard for awhile.

Have a wonderful Sunday morning everyone doing what makes you happy.

Being honest, I don`t even know who is playing tonight.....that`s how much interest I have in it, and there`s not much being mentioned of it at all this year over here.

I love being indoors when it`s raining heavy outside......

Good Sunday Morning everyone

Hope you have a wonderful Anniversary Robbie.....yes, leaving it for another day to go out for dinner might be a good idea. As long as you celebrate, doesn`t matter when.

Glad to hear your boy and the little guy are doing better, and continued good thoughts he doesn`t need surgery, prayer can make a difference. But, I`m happy you have confidence in those caring for him and that he has family around that can reassure you too. That is a blessing in itself.

Thank you for the lovely words on my Trip reports, I do indeed love writing them and there is a lovely little community that has built up on them which is wonderful. I do enjoy reading others, some I try to get into, but can`t seem to somehow, if i read a TR though I always comment as I agree, especially for longer trips, they do take an effort.

I agree, life gets in the way at times, I took far too long to finish this one, but when I looked back, there were reasons I stopped for a while....life just gets busy. But I do look forward to reading your next one, we so look forward to getting back to KSC in May, I think we`re going to do two days at least as Kyle is with us.

Have a lovely day and again, Happy Anniversary.......💞

We did get out a walk today, it was so still it didn`t feel as cool as it claimed to be, we only managed 2 and a quarter miles, but it`s better than nothing. Such a beautiful walk even when the skies and sea were both as grey as each other.

Went shopping before we came home, had coronation chicken wraps for lunch with some salad, spent some time chatting to friends and emailing others and before I knew it, it`s 4pm, and still everything is grey looking out. Sky does look heavy, but no rain heading our way and not a breath of wind to be seen.

Couple of hours till dinner, will go find something else to do before I start that......short ribs are cooked, I just need to thicken the gravy and get the veg roasted, dinner will be done then.

Time for a pot of tea........:)

A very happy 36th wedding anniversary to Robo and her DH.

Robo, glad to hear family doing better, and hope your son does heal well, before any surgery thoughts happen. Sending lots of mummy dust well wishes to him. And thankful to read little J is feeling better. Also, how nice to enjoy some park time and some space coast time lately.

Ah yes, the month of many anniversaries, mine and Keisha’s too, and birthdays, with a birthday day today, for one of my SILs.

Hehe, older one is going out the door, as working today, and poked the bear, um, I mean disturbed the hornet nest, and asked little one a question as he was leaving. Little one, is at front of house, as her room is at the front of our house. I could hear from the back of the house, where our den is, and I guess she answered his question. And poor guy will have to watch some of the game if there’s any being streamed where he is. Sadly, doesn’t work in a TV store. LoL

Going to watch that puppy bowl this afternoon. Hehe, very entertaining, and pups from my City will be featured in it, so another reason to watch.

Off to see if little one is civil, I mean awake enough, and wanting some lunch. And need to refill that tea kettle.

Though chances of some light rain, but hey, high is 46. Sadly, no shorts, as just that bit too cool. So pants and maybe even my favorite lightweight sweat jacket. Errands to run this afternoon.
