So...what did you pay per point for your membership?

I have 4 contracts:

1) 05/09/1992 230 points $51 pp
2) 04/21/1993 40 points $56 pp
3) 10/22/1993 40 points $57.50 pp
4) 06/14/1996 35 points $62.75 pp

$18,466.25/345 points = $53.53 average per point.

Memories = Priceless
I don't remember all the dates but I'll give rough estimates.
270 OKW 1994 $42 per point resale
232 OKW late 90's around $50 resale
50 points OKW traded another timeshare real cost around $30 pp but real value around $50 pp
333 BWV 98 or 99 $54 pp (clearly at last $4 pp below the ROFR price at the time)
AKV 100 (4*25) reconstruction $93 per point.

I now only own the BWV and AKV and my goal with the AKV was to sell ALL except 25 for the perks, I just never got around to it.

Personally I don't think that the purchase price per point is overly useful as a comparison. It doesn't include closing costs, MF paid, was there banked points or was the contract stripped, those can all make a big difference to what that real costs look like.

So I'll be a little different and also state my costs as Total Costs per Total Points Purchased. Total Costs includes everything I paid including, MF, closing costs, admin fees etc. Total Points Purchased are the number of points remaining on the contract till it expires after I got it.

  • 400 SSR - 2010 Oct - $1.37/point , paid $60/point
  • 310 OKW - 2011 Feb - $1.71/point, paid $50/point
  • 200 SSR - 2011 Aug - $1.41/point, paid $60/point
  • 200 SSR - 2012 July - $1.35/point, paid $54/point
  • 200 SSR - 2012 July - $1.21/point, paid $50/point
  • 270 BWV - 2012 July - $1.84/point, paid $54/point
  • 300 BWV - 2012 July - $1.81/point, paid $54/point
  • 310 OKW - 2014 Jun - $2.12/point, paid $60/point
  • 400 BLT - 2018 Dec - $3.02/point, paid $125/point

How do you all remember these prices? I have no idea what mine were...trying to find them in old emails...

Okay - guess I found them all!
All resale:
2009 VB 50 points $59/pt
2010 AKV 40 points $85/pt
2014 AKV 50 points $98/pt
2017 AKV 120 points $85/pt

We bought resale in 2011 after our family went to Disney as a post-Afghanistan reunite trip. We had stayed at POFQ/military salute and had an amazing time. We immediately started looking at coming back and had cash stashed from the deployment. (ETA we were 29...wish I had the foresight to figure out how to buy more but we didn’t have the cash for this purpose at the time)

We passed ROFR on 3/24/11
50 VWL $79
50 BLT $98
(Might not be exact but very close. We spent <$9k total for our points)

2006- $76 (200 OKW)
2012- $50 (25 and 50 HHI)
2013- $$65 (100 AKV)
2013- $60 (50 HHI)
2014- direct $123 (55 BWV)
2014- direct $130 (25 BWV)
2015- SOLD 100 AKV at $80
2016- direct $160 (25 BWV)
2017- $95 (150 BWV)
2018- direct $182 (70 CCV)
Edit to add...2019- SOLD 200 OKW at $92pp

Roughly an average of $80pp before sale of OKW (those direct buys increased our average for sure and if I take out OKW it will be even higher)

I didn't even think of closing costs, because way back when I purchased direct, the closing costs were paid by DVD. We did get a really nice purchase incentive of free park passes until 2000,it was discontinued prior to June 1996.

My costs were all inclusive on closing but did not include any adjustments for short term points accounting, all of my contracts were fairly middle of the road other than my BWV one where I got full points a few months after we closed but I did not reimburse any dues) which the broker felt was the reason it passed at "under" the then accepted floor for ROFR. To the point where a different broker from a different company took it upon themselves to actually call DVC and inquire as to why it passed.

If I read you correctly I believe the way you did this is less accurate. Certainly the points accounting and the dues paid are applicable and it's fairly easy to use dues paid, points availability, even UY to adjust between contracts but I think it's more difficult to compare over time in a pp format. Are you taking the total points YOU received for each and every year of the contract and dividing by the total you paid up front? IF so, the other variables would be the dues portion of the next MF attributable to the dues you received, an adjustment for lead time to UY and an adjustment for the reduced value of any banked or shorter terms points. I do agree that one contract at a given price is not necessarily the same as the next due to points accounting & closing but I think that's not very helpful in 10 years but it is very helpful on a purchase decision.

2007 WLV 150 puts $88 pp resale.

Added on direct 2X @50 pts each.
I want to say it was $95 and $104 approx for the add ons respectively.
At that time cheaper to add on direct small points becaise of closing costs.

This was all before new rules.

I am very happy with my DVC purchase. I cannot believe the prices now it is insane!!

I am currently waiting for my delayed SW flight home.

Just enjoyed 5 nights BRV then 3 nights Poly.... I love my Dvc
