My husband wants to bring this device on trip in July. After dialysis, he gets very itchy when its hot or even warm. Would this be a problem with Disney security checks?

Has anyone ever use this product? Does it really work?

SharperImage Stuff

I don't have any first hand experience with Sharper products, that they have a good rep for quality stuff. I love their store at the Mall of America. Some pretty neat stuff there.

I have seen all kinds of cooling type gizmos on people at disney, especialy in the summer.

If my dh needed this for medical reason, I would give it a shot. Arent the Sharper proudcts guaranteed?

Herc.

I purchased one of these for a summer trip two years ago. Found that it was virtually worthess. Perhaps it would have worked if the temperature had been more moderate, but not in the blazing Florida sun. It also was not terribly comfortable to wear. The squeeze-breeze fans were far more effective, and certainly much less expensive.

We may reconsider investing this product, since we've finally got some feedback from someone who has put this product through the test in the Florida climate. The ice-filled misty mate may be our best bet! Also, with additional security in the airports, I would hate for the authorities to think our "new-fangled" contraption is something its not! :)

Just bought one myself, but hafen't been able to try it out since it isn't hot here yet!

So, it's really worthless? Dang! The worst place I sweat is the back of my head and neck--I was counting on this thing really helping.

Oh well, back to the drawing board. What else you y'all suggest? Is a mister fan the only other good idea? Isnt that a pain to carry around?

Thanks!

My DH bought one of these for me because I really really don't like HOT. I have used it a few times, but as a previous poster stated, it's not much use in Really Really Hot weather, or when it's humid for that matter. It has a water resevoir in it which runs out after about 20 minutes, and it's clumsy to refill. It gets heavy on your neck as well, and it actually feels better AFTER YOU TAKE IT OFF! I personally am not enamoured of this product, but I do appreciate the thought behind the gift!

I think I'm happy with my own personal misty mate...here in California, I've seen folks with the Sharper image ones that you hang around your neck, but though it doesn't look heavy, and it doesn't look like it pulls your head down like other units, it does look like it chaffes into the back of your neck. Ouch!

Misty mate is cool...can sling it over your shoulder, or wear it on your back, or whatever. The misty fans work well too - I just wish that the batteries lasted longer in those things.

Hi Tinagirl...what's a misty-mate? Is that a name for the battery operated fan/sprayer dealies, or something different? lin

A Misty mate is basically a canister that you fill with water. It has a pump on the top, and basically, you give it a few pushes every once in a whiile to keep good pressure flowing. They have them in anywhere from 10 - 24 oz, so if you want it small and light, and can refill it, go with the 10, or if it will be VERY hot go with the 24. Basically, it has an adjustable nozzle that creates a superfine mist that sprays wherever you want it....going on a ride? Just turn the nozzle and shut it off. I find that there are some very happy folks BEHIND me in line, because they get a bit of the mist too. When I bought mine on the Home Shopping Network a while ago (I Know, I know) it came with a carrying strap that slings around your back. It's very light, and works quite well.

You can buy them from some department stores if they have "summer" displays, or you can visit HSN.com and buy the one they have on special right now, which comes with a 16oz, a 10 oz and a mini fan. Also they have their own website at www.mistymate.com, where you can buy the units, as well as acessories like a filter for the water, and different sized nozzles.

I agree, I have the mistymate, and a friend has the sharper image device. I couldn't feel any difference in how hot I was when I tried the sharper image thing, and found it to be uncomfortable to wear.

I got a gift certificate from Sharper Image and when at the store,I inquired about the cooler. The employee said it is worthless in heat and humidity. At least he was honest.Ended up with a great little pair of binocs that came in handy at AKL.

I purchased a mistymate from QVC last year and loved it! I have used it in Disney as well as Las Vegas. In the
Sumer don't leave home without it!
