I'm going through a rough patch on the personal front and could use something happy to read. I'd love it if y'all could share a favorite DCL story or memory, something you just love about cruising in general, or else a thing you're excited for regarding a future cruise! Let the positive vibes roll :)

We had a waiter on the fantasy who would always say “you will love it” if we asked about an entree on the menu. Well on the last night of the cruise he brought us a special dessert and written on the plate in chocolate sauce was “you will love it”. It was just a truly hilarious moment after hearing him say it every day.

After a leisurely late seating dinner on the Magic, on an Eastern Caribbean cruise, going to the Wide World of Sports deck about midnight, with our kids, standing in front of the wind screen at the very front of the ship, warm breeze, pitch black out, just the lights of islands in the distance. So relaxing. They were 12 and 16 and still talk about doing that 18 years later. As West Coasters, we never switched our body clocks to east coast time. Late seating dinner was like eating early, and none of us were ready to bed before 1 or 2 am. All our excursions were late in the morning or early in the afternoon, so other than kids running screaming in the halls at 5:45 am on a sea day, no issue sleeping in.

Lots of great memories over the years, but if I have to pick one it would be our Thanksgiving cruise on the Magic out of NYC. Sailing past the Statue of Liberty on our way out of New York Harbor, perfect weather at CC, Thanksgiving Day at the Magic Kingdom, and Marvel Day at Sea which included a talk from one of my DH's favorite comic book artists.

During the 2019 Merrytime EBPC a bunch of characters were mulling about in the atrium in their christmas outfits, and I went to go say hi to goofy. We were talking about the gingerbread house and suddenly he linked arms with me, and walked across the whole atrium over to the gingerbread house so we could get cute pictures there together :sad1:. We made a promise to meet later that night to eat some of the gingerbread house when no one would be around to spot us .

A few days later that cruise pajama goofy was walking around in the atrium, and I went to go say hi again. He linked arms with me and walked me over to the gingerbread house again! But when we got there he moved us over to the christmas tree when he remembered we already had pictures with the gingerbread house :rotfl:.
One of my favorite memories!

All character interactions on our WBPC. The characters are always great, but on a long cruise, there become more meaningful interactions. We loved it and can't wait to do another long cruise like that again.

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary on a Wonder cruise to Alaska. One evening, we returned to our room to find that our stateroom host had created a path to the bed with tea lights and rose petals, with more on the bed in a heart shape surrounding two intertwined swans made from towels and a Happy Anniversary card. Truly magical!

I'll never forget our first cruise. DH and I ended up being upgraded with a navigator's verandah on the dream "with the mickey view" (aft). As we left PC, we saw dolphins in the wild (they are always around the same spot, we've always seen them after that). I had never seen that before.

Then we left the room and we sat on chairs in the adult section and had ice cream. We couldn't stop laughing. We could not believe that we would be spending the next 3 days on a "boat". It was so special and different for us.

Turns out I got super sea sick that night and for a moment I thought cruising wasn't for me and really regretted my decision ...

... Until the next morning: I was perfectly fine, I had never seen water that BLUE and after spending the morning at the Rainforest Room (spa) we were at the desk to book another cruise. :rotfl2:

P.s.: Sending you positive vibes pixiedust:

One of my favorite memories!
Second favorite memory, disembarkation from our New Year's eve cruise. Waiting (forever) in line to leave the ship next to the Gingerbread house and two burly guys tearing down the Gingerbread house with hammers. LOL

With 23 Disney cruises under my belt its hard to narrow down 1 memory but in general I would say the cruises we took with others were the best. Whether it was our first Disney cruise with my whole family, a cruise when the kids were teens and we brought our neighbors along, the DIS podcast cruises, sailing with coworkers/friends...they were such good times!

As a family of 4 though, dinners were when we would spend the most time together and some of our fondest memories were made at those dinner. 1 server in particular gave us a lot of laughs....we still bring up his birthday every year on the date, 10 years later. :rotfl2:

I guess if I had to pick 1 big thing that stood out for me personally, it would be when DH and I completed the CC Challenge after running the marathon the previous weekend. It was our 1 full marathon and just getting that CC challenge medal with the ship and the Castle made it all worth it.

Mine would be on our last cruise which was an Alaskan cruise on the Wonder. It was our last night of the cruise and I happened to go out on my verandah just as the sun was setting. We were in the inside passage. The water was so still and it was so quiet. It was just amazing to watch the sun set over the mountains. It really was one of those moments when you think, this is why I cruise!

We have been on 9 DCL cruises and learned that having a verandah is worth the extra cost for us. A few years ago we were on a WBTA and several times I saw flying fish and dolphins enjoying the waves as much as we on our water patio. Then in Juneau (how come most of the memorable comments so far happen on Alaska cruises?), we were sitting out there, waiting for the ship to shove off when a hummingbird flew up over the railing, paused to look at us, then flew off. There were no flowers around for miles. We decided if must have been Tinkerbell who popped up, perhaps looking for the drink of the day.
We have a B2B British Isles-WBTA, booked for Sept. 2022. Our 54-year-old son is coming with us (his wife didn't want to come and his kids will be in college). Now, I am wondering if there is a kids' club for him? He is 6'4" and has a great Jack Sparrow outfit...so good, in fact, that, during Pirate Night a couple of years ago, he was mistaken twice for Jack and people on the ship wanted pictures with him. We had staterooms on opposite sides of the forward elevator waiting area decorated the doors with 3-D ship battles between Barbosa, on one side, and Sparrow on the other. Maybe both of us should be checked into a kids' club.

Last cruise on the Wonder November 2019, Panama canal cruise. On deck 9 standing next to captain Puckett 7am in the morning watching as we came into the Galveston port
I think Captain Puckett is an amazing speaker. I would have enjoyed that experience as well!

On my first cruise (7-Night on the Fantasy) my friend and I decided to splurge on our last night at Remy. I was so sick when I woke up that morning with nausea but didn't want to miss our reservation so I went anyway. I was miserable the whole time and could barely eat anything. Halfway through I got up to use the restroom, and when I came out, one of the waiters was waiting to escort me back to the table, arm in arm. He asked how I was feeling and I was truthful that I wasn't feeling the best, and he took me on a mini walking tour through the restaurant to show me the glass Remy, the wine bottles, and we had such a great chat before we rounded back and he brought me back to the table. It took my mind off my nausea and really made the meal stand out - even if I didn't eat all the food

Out 2nd cruise was on the fantasy. Every time our stateroom host saw my mom he giggled. Finally after a few days we asked why he giggled every time he saw her. He told her he thought she looked like Dame Judi Dench!
