Service Unavailable Error

I have reported this to Xenforo, if anyone has additional details please post them here
Experiencing the same problem again today. It was fine for a bit last night, but back to the Service Unavailable error again this morning. Website only accessible via iPhone.

I am getting this too, but only when using WiFi on my phone. When I switch to data it works. Driving me a bit nuts!

Me too when I tried in the mornings, and I put it down to the 5 hour time difference, but glad to hear it wasn't just me.

Me too. I just turned wifi off and pulled up the page with data and then turned my wifi back on. So far so good. No problem on my Mac using wifi.

Been happening off and on for a few days for me on my desktop. Happening for a while today, although I can open the page on an incognito browser page.

I just came here to see if anyone else was seeing this. I assumed it was a server issue, but has been happening regularly. Like a few other comments, I just figured out when I am on comcast at home right now, it fails, but if I turn off Wi-Fi and am on AT&T, it starts working. It is still working sometimes on comcast, but appears to be failing intermittently.

I had only been having issues on my desktop but it showed up on my phone as well this afternoon.

This is tough to fix because we can't recreate it
If anyone with a bit of technical knowledge has this problem and can help it's appreciated
While having the problem go to a dos prompt
Type nslookup and hit enter
type disboards.com and hit enter
type www.disboards.com and hit enter
Let me know the numbers that come up or copy and past the whole thing. It will look like this

C:\Users>nslookup
Default Server: a.resolvers.level3.net
Address: 4.2.2.1

> disboards.com
Server: a.resolvers.level3.net
Address: 4.2.2.1

I will try to do this, but it has mostly been my phone that was experiencing this. I will also see if I can find a good nslookup ios app. And of course it is working fine now.

Should note I had to look that up on my laptop, then email it to my ChromeBook (both on the same wifi network, both using Chrome) because I obviously couldn't reach the site on the laptop (but Chromebook can still connect).

Do you have comparable steps if happening on Android or iPhone? Getting the error now on chrome mobile app, but can access site on desktop (obviously, or I wouldn't be here!). I tried clearing cache, cookies, etc related to Disboards, but no dice.

That's interesting. 108.171.164.208 is our old address, You are using spectrum for your DNS and it's feeding you bad info
Just out of curiosity if you do the same thing while it's going on but type server 8.8.8.8 then type disboards.com do you get a different number? Like this
C:\Users>nslookup
Default Server: a.resolvers.level3.net
Address: 4.2.2.1

> server 8.8.8.8
Default Server: dns.google
Address: 8.8.8.8

I'm wondering if it's a problem with 1 or 2 services having a stuck DNS server. Unfortunately we have no control over that.

Keep in mind that it is happening on my iPhone as well, when on cellular and with WiFi turned off, so the issue is happening with Verizon as well for me. I will check.

Issue still occurring on my laptop, but not on my ChromeBook or phone. Both computers connected to the same WiFi connection.

Also, yesterday, when my iPhone was connecting just fine, and my laptop wasn't, I tried using my phone as a hot spot, and the laptop connected no problem. Later in the day, the phone lost its connection through Verizon, but the laptop(s) could connect via WiFi through Spectrum. The odd thing though, is that two/three devices, connected to the same WiFi connection, through the same DNS server, can have different connection success. Right now, my ChromeBook is connected, but my laptop wont. (Technically, I have two laptops and one ChromeBook all getting the error intermittently and at different times., but the issue is the same.)

This morning was working fine on Chrome (except for the tickers not working and reported elsewhere).

Now I only get the "Service Unavailable Error" message using Chrome BUT NOT when using MS Edge.

Very frustrating.....

Seems like it's getting worse and/or more widespread.

I know these things can be hard to diagnose, but it's no coincidence that all these problems (tickers not working, user names disappearing, signature images disappearing even after you re-upload them, the "Down for Service" notifications many got from last week, and the current "Service Unavailable" error) all only started happening after the move.
