Security at Entrance to Parks

Is there a bag check at the entrance similar to WDW at the both Parks?

Actually Universal has airport style scanners at the main (City Walk) security area. You put your bags in a plastic bin, go through a metal detector yourself, and meet your bags on the other side. It is quite efficient - at least when the masses of people follow instructions.

Yes, as PP said, it is at each entrance to Citywalk, rather than at the entrance to each park - once you have gone through and are "in the bubble", you don't have to go through security again if you move park to park or go out to Citywalk to for lunch, etc.

It's actually way more efficient than WDW and actually feels more thorough. They also have wands and/or metal detectors at the hotel boat launches. They manually inspect bags at the hotel boat launches, but it's really fast.

Actually, it seems even the boat launches are getting the bag xray machines now. We had them at the dock for our last two stays at Royal Pacific in January and at Hard Rock last week.

Yes, same at Hard Rock. We were there two weeks ago. Any point of entry to City Walk will have them - be it from the parking lot, the boats, or the walking paths.
