San Juan 2019

is it too early to think about booking air and a hotel for a San Juan embarkation in Jan 2019? Traveling from Connecticut and want to stay one night prior to the cruise, somewhere near the pier. Any suggestions?

The embarcation will be from the Pan American pier. The nearest hotels are either the Hyatt Place or the Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino. I just got my flights and hotels for Jan 19 for a Miami cruise, but I am using points and not waiting for an airfare sale!

You might at least get a free reservation at the hotel of your choice and cancel it if something better shows up or to switch to an advanced purchase reservation when it gets closer.

We stayed at the Hyatt place hotel and had a good time. It had a free shuttle to Old San Juan, but you had to find your own way back (taxi or Uber).

I just booked our hotel room in San Juan this past week for our cruise on February 3rd, 2019. They had a good cancellation policy so I can always change it. We are staying 3 nights prior to our cruise in Old San Juan.

Hotels operate on the supply and demand principle. As long as the cancel policy is good, we always book asap to secure the lowest rate. San Juan is very expensive for hotels so the earlier the better! Have fun! It's an Awesome cruise!!

I booked my flights and hotel as soon as they were both available to book for my San Juan cruise that I just took in January. I am glad I did, as the prices never went any lower. They only got more expensive. I thought with the hurricane uncertainty, the prices might drop, but they never did. So, I would definitely suggest sooner rather than later
