Room booked to GTY

Does anyone know if you can have a booked room and change it to GTY if/when those rates come out? Will Disney refund the difference? Do GTY rates ever come out before the PIF date? Thanks guys! On a budget here!

Change to a *GT? That is the discounted rate...and generally no. IGT offers typically (not always but usually) come out after the PIF date. And they always require a "new" booking, paid in full at the time of booking. What you might be able to do is cancel the existing reservation and book a new IGT. But if it's after PIF be sure to calculate the penalty to determine if it's worth it.

If you mean a regular GTY (such as 4A GTY) that isn't a discounted rate and will almost always be higher than an earlier booking for the same room category.

Also, if you do cancel and rebook on a *GT rate after making your final payment, you will lose any booking for excursions, dining, character meets, etc. that you have made, because you will have a new reservation.

You can, however, change to a lower-fare room before the paid in full date if you're concerned about cost. If you change your room but keep your reservation, you won't lose any activities you've booked. For first-time cruisers, the paid-in-full date may be the same as the activity booking date. For Castaway Club members who pay before the PIF date in order to book activities, you should get a refund if you move to a less expensive category before the PIF date.
