Rides Down

Was in the parks today. First of all- it was busy!! Second, nearly every major ride went down at one point. Sometimes multiple of them were down at the same time. Fiancé and I ran into 3 or 4 rides down in a row which landed us with a lot of unused Fastpasses. Ugh! HM was the most noticeable as it was actually down the entire day and hasn’t gone back yet. Hopefully tomorrow!

Sorry for my ignorance/hijack, but when a ride goes down now, do you still get an "anytime" FP you can use for the rest of the day? Is it for any ride at DL/DCA, or are there some exclusions?

We are going to DL-DCA next month for the first time in 10 years. Have been to WDW three times in between. It is tough to get fully up to speed in how things work now.

Also, I know that an "anytime" FP is not necessarily a magical fix, since the FP lines can still take a decent amount of time. But they can still be very helpful in the evening, right?

Yes they still do Multiple Experience (ME) passes when a ride goes down. You can still collect fastpasses if the ride is down too. They can be helpful anytime of the day. If a ride goes down in the daytime, and it is back up in the evening, you can use the ME to ride the ride. Fair warning: when a ride is back up after being down, that is usually when the fastpass lines back up the most because everyone else has a ME (along with people not knowing how to scan their tickets).

Exclusions: you can only use a ME on the ride you got the fastpass for, OR another ride in the SAME park. So say you have a fastpass for RSR. It goes down so you get a ME. You can't use that ME on Space Mountain because it's in Disneyland.

Thanks! Does the ME FP ever exclude certain rides in the park? Like, if Goofy's Sky School is down, would you really get an anytime FP that could be used at RSR/Guardians?

In my experience no. They don't exclude rides. On the app, when the Multiple Experience pass comes up, you can click on it, and it will show all the rides you are able to use it on. So if for whatever reason it does exclude a ride, you will know through that.

Yes. Off the top of my head DL anytime FP can’t be used at Peter Pan. Don’t think there are exclusions in DCA...

Whenever I have checked what rides to use a Multiple Experience pass on, it has always been rides that have fastpass..so wouldn't Peter Pan automatically be excluded since it doesn't have fastpass?

That only happens if you are part of a line dump or are walked off an attraction. They give you a multi experience pass that’s good for anything but Peter Pan.

This^

An ME that's good for non-FP rides are given to you by CMs because of an issue like having to be walked off. A regular FP turning into an ME is only good for other FP rides (clicking on it will show what rides an ME is good for).

That said, though, I have gotten the elusive "good for Peter Pan" MEs, but that was due to having to be issued MEs by a CM because the system glitches sometimes and doesn't always convert FPs to MEs like it's supposed to.

Hmm. Thought the list of rides was a suggestion but it’s been sometime since I’ve seen a ME FP. Probably I’m recalling the very beginning days of them where it was good anywhere except Space & Peter Pan. Makes sense to reign it in to FP rides only.

I used it first in August 2017 not long after it debuted (like a month or so after?) and that's how it worked for me. The list always said "good on the following rides" or something like that.

But I definitely can't speak to those first few weeks beyond the reports I read about it, lol!

I must have ended up with some re-admit ME FPs then!

So many things down. I am trying not to be Debbie Downer about it, but we’ve lost multiple fast passes that I couldn’t use on other attractions because their fast pass lines were so long and then the park closed.

Forgot to add that we got escorted off Mike and Sully tonight. Lights on, CMs walking us out. Then went over to RSR which was also down. :(

I wonder why the rides are down so often? Is it guest problems? Power outages? Excessive use?

Hope everyone gets a chance to ride everything they want by the end of their trips.

If the ride is down when it closes and you had a fastpass, does it give you a multiple experience pass? Do those last through the next day?
